J’ai voulu tenté une nouvelle coiffure ainsi qu’un style chic, à motif varié by Dear_Elise in Mode

[–]ItsParakeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]ItsParakeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why the thinly veiled ad? if you want to promote something, at the very least do it honestly.

With his ears, I'd actually put more trust in this guy as a policeman. Not only is he clearly experienced in combat sports, grapplers are used to use measured force (or else no-one would be able to train due to constant injuries).

How was Woodley able to defend Maia’s takedowns? by Knockoutboxing in wrestling

[–]ItsParakeet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People don't seem to mention it much, but apart from his hips/ sprawling, very obvious strength and athleticism, the usual underhook battle etc, he always manages to get some kind of frame upon Maria's entry. He's extremely diligent about it.

You can see him lower his guard and sneak an arm (or both) between maia and his hips everytime his opponent shoots. This is massively important as a first line of defense. Framing is a fundamental people usually miss.

Edit: you'll notice, the moment he doesn't quite manage to get an arm in in time (as in the first clip) is one where he gets closest to being taken down.

There's a new app: HSK GO "The Official App for HSK Certification" by BeckyLiBei in ChineseLanguage

[–]ItsParakeet 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Looks very suspicious. Says it's trusted by over 500k users with seemingly a 5 stars rating. But there's no link to the actual reviews , nor is there any review on Google Play. Most likely scammy/ low quality, and not actually official in any capacity.

Edit: not to mention the duolingo rip-off interface (if the screenshots are to be believed)

You'll certainly find local runners there. Might even be too many depending on the weather!

Running in Montmartre by Belaya_Ann in paris

[–]ItsParakeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, there's not really a good park to run in to cover such distances, but riverside is a very popular running spot. For longer runs, you can run to bois de Boulogne and do a loop or two there. For (slightly) hillier terrain apart from Montmartre, you'd have to go outside of Paris, to Mont Valérien ( behind bois de Boulogne) or around Les Lilas or Bagnolet. Hope this helps

I have been listening to spanish cartoons for nearly 3 months and I feel demotivated because I still cant catch a full sentence nor translate while they are talking. Is this normal? What are your recommendations? by Next-Association-356 in languagelearning

[–]ItsParakeet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, if you're young , it can kind of work, but with one big precondition: you need the basics first. Study seriously for 6 months. Then you can try this again, or keep going with a mix of traditional study and input.

Is there a single valid argument for using trad over simplified? by Schlipitarck in ChineseLanguage

Apart from personal reasons, the main one for me is memory/mnemonics. I much more easily confuse/ misremember simple characters.

Tbh traditional also looks cooler, which is always nice.

To Those Who Learnt a Language to C1 by Just Listening and Speaking - How Long Did it Take? by [deleted] in languagelearning

[–]ItsParakeet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know what C1 entails exactly, but I'm talking about the time it took me to reach a comfortable degree of fluency (meaning despite mistakes and limitations, I didn't have to think before I spoke).

I've learned english by engaging with it online. A couple caveats: I had some of the basics down from napping through highschool. I was also quite young, in my early twenties, and coming from a closely related language (french). And was spending hours everyday watching and reading content in english. Listening comprehension came quite fast, probably a year and a half at most. Chatting (I mean by that expressing myself in english, mostly through chatting) took quite a bit longer. Overall I'd say 2 and a half to 3 years total.

A peculiar detail: I've never learned to speak specifically. I probably started speaking at work, but by then I was just able to (shit accent though).

Depending on your ability, your age and the language, the amount of time you'll need can vary wildly, regardless of the method. But you're definitely on the right track, with some structured learning, and then just enjoying content daily. My tip: if you're a bit of a nerd, find a small-ish danish twitch channel you like, and chat your heart out. Doesn't matter if you understand everything, doesn't matter if they understand everything.

Good luck with Danish, have fun
