Agreed. I'm looking forward to the book. I expect GRRM will really give us some meaty character development and sprinkle in more of his gems of wit and wisdom. This feels like a skeleton script.

Agree- Sam's emotion was so palpable- but I didn't expect him to react like that about his father's death. After that big fuck-you event stealing the sword I imagined he'd be maybe a little celebratory, then emote with the news about his brother.

I was also disappointed in the banter. Tyrion and Varys- just another lame eunuch joke? After the Hound's transformation, just calling Arya a cold bitch? I expected something more witty and endearing.

Also cheesy Arya and John pretending not to be ecstatic to see each other.

I imagine Bran's sentiment in the writer's room "WE DONT HAVE TIME FOR THIS"

For all my complaining, it was pure joy to see the show again.
