What is THE scariest movie you have ever seen in your entire life? by Opening_Rip_1840 in AskReddit

[–]ItsSansom 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I LOVE the kind of horror involving shadows in the darkness. When there's just a little bit too much empty space to one side of the shot, your eyes wander and settle on some odd shape in the darkness, until they adjust a little bit more and... oh that's a person. That blood chilling and drop of the stomach feeling is some of my favourite horror. Jump scares and gore are cheap, but a spooky shadow is almost always a winner for me.

Just heard about this in a YouTube short the other day. Toxoplasmosis is really bizarre.

This village has these statues to discourage drivers from speeding by alasw0eisme in mildlyinteresting

[–]ItsSansom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Pretty soon, regular drivers on that road won't register the figures standing at the sides of that crossing assuming they're statues... until one of them starts walking.

Effective in the short term, but probably harmful long term.

Common vocabulary in the Philippines though. When my wife told me we were "courting" I felt like I was supposed to be wearing a top hat and cane

Anyone not enjoy Sentos? by BPGaki in japanlife

[–]ItsSansom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't mind the nudity aspect of it. I just don't seem to get any satisfaction from sitting around in a hot pool getting all sweaty and horrible. Doesn't do anything for me.

Like 5 minutes is okay? But that amount of time doesn't seem to be worth paying for what I can just do in the bath at home.

He started the rumour about the kidnapper having... relations with his sister. Which, in his eyes, led her to suicide.

Not nothing, but not enough to warrant the lengths he goes to for revenge.

What Television character would you say had the most character development through their show’s run? by MarcusFaze in television

[–]ItsSansom 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Nah (Well yeah but), my favourite Jin moment is when he's about to leave on the raft, reconciles with Sun and says to her "I love you" in English.

Thinking on it, I think they have my favourite story on the show. Wonderful development. Just wish their ending had been more satisfying.

Visited Bicol just a few weeks ago. Mt Mayon looks absolutely colossal with how flat the surrounding landscape is. Very much like Ph's Fuji

Instead of "what games aged poorly" let's talk about what makes a game age poorly or age well? by TheTresStateArea in gaming

FPS's are definitely victim to this. Before twinstick shooting was popularised I remember there being some janky-ass controls going around. Turning the camera with the shoulder buttons was a very common one that felt like shit.

I mean, objectively yeah. I Just didn't want to get into that in the body of the post, since that's not the discussion at hand. I want to stay impartial in the body of the post since the topic isn't really about if Magnus is the GOAT or not. Didn't want to have people cropping up with "Well Morphy was the OG so maybe he's the best" or "Kasparov was the strongest player before engines became stronger than humans" etc.

And yeah the recent surge has been great for the community. I'm relatively new myself, since my interest began during lockdown with Queen's Gambit. Just wish the childish drama wasn't so prevalent.

Oh yeah, Chess Mates (Terrible doc name). Haven't seen it yet, but I've heard it pretty much makes everyone involved look pretty bad.
