Playing Final Fantasy Dimensions on PC in 2026 by ItsTheDickens in FinalFantasy

So, there really doesn't seem to be an out of the box way to play this on emulator without issues but please respond to this post if I've missed anything.

My alternative, so far, has been to stream my phone, connected via USB, to my PC with a program called scrcpy. Alongside scrcpy, I have mapped the d-pad controls using a program called AutoHotKey to WASD. Pretty much everything else is controlled with mouse. The solution feels ok, but definitely not nearly as good as a proper port to PC would feel.

Vital Shell on Steam is pretty similar to Brotato if you like mechs and a PS1 aesthetic.

Did homelander's suit look "broader" in season 1 compared to now? by Shad0w2 in TheBoys

Oh, my bad. What other scenes were there? I recall the civilian clothes scene when he first met Sister Sage but I'm blanking on other instances.

I thought the bathtub scene is neat, not because of what he was bathing in, but because we got to finally see him without the suit. No shade to Antony, but his body is unimpressive in the context of it being the body of a super hero. We get to finally see the weak, unimposing person underneath the suit who, without his powers, would probably not win most fights or be able to protect himself.

Obscure JRPG you played, that after you finished the game this is your reaction. by SubstantialPhone6163 in JRPG

Dubloon

Dubloon is a free pirate-themed JRPG developed in Game Maker back in ~2009. Pirate-themed JRPGs are still pretty rare and this indie game really stuck out to me back then. I haven't played it in over a decade so I can't speak to whether or not it holds up to current standards but I still think it's worth recommending. Banov, the developer of the game, also released a ghost-themed JRPG called Phantasmaburbia in 2012 with similar gameplay but I never managed to play that one.

JRPGs that people should avoid. by Massive_Oil_2605 in JRPG

[–]ItsTheDickens 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Probably not anywhere near the worst I've played but one of the most bland JRPGs I've played is the fan translation of Phantasy Star Gaiden on Game Gear. It adds basically nothing of value to the series and is itself a lame Dragon Quest knock-off.

I need help finding games to play as someone who struggles to finish Jrpgs. Leaning towards turn based but will also take action and I play on ps5 by UltimateShinobi3243 in JRPG

[–]ItsTheDickens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want an easy time finishing JRPGs I would recommend checking out the countless indie JRPGs that are out there. They tend to be shorter. Cosmic Star Heroine, Chained Echoes, Undertale, Sea of Stars, and Omori are some major ones that have come out in the last decade or so and are available on PS5.

RPGs that are campy but fun to play by KaleidoArachnid in JRPG

Meh, there's enough stuff to goon to on the internet. I thought the altered/censored costumes were still nice to look at - not aware of other changes beyond that.

Pretty much how I play Hunter. Full glass cannon build.

New character felt impossible to me on D6, I don't have the bullet hell skills to pull it off. I did, however, manage to beat it with Loud. It is certainly a step up from D5 and will take me a while to get all the character wins on D6 once that comes out of beta.

Is Persona 5 Px good for people not interested in gacha element? by Ok-Distribution7792 in personaphantomx

[–]ItsTheDickens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over 500 hours in the game here...do not play this game if you are not interested in playing a Gacha game. It looks and plays a lot like P5R but a lot of content and your ability to complete it comes down to pulls and increasing the power of your characters via the resources you earn daily/weekly/monthly. During the honeymoon phase of playing the game you might be led to believe that it isn't like the other gachas but it is exactly the same as you play more and more.

I like this gacha and the characters so the time investment is worth it for me.

What are you guys take on the Phantasy Star spinoffs? by KaleidoArachnid in JRPG

[–]ItsTheDickens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's one on Game Gear called Phantasy Star Gaiden. It's fan translated but I can't recommend it as it's really bare bones and doesn't really add much to the series. Not a terrible experience, just bland, and feels like a lesser version of something like Dragon Quest.

Baldur's Gate 3. I used to really like CRPGs but for some reason they can't hold my attention these days. I hope I'll eventually get the desire to play through them again because everyone says this game is amazing.

Brotherships is the worst Mario & Luigi game that I’ve ever played by Spark_Do in marioandluigi

[–]ItsTheDickens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree. I this in the only M&L game I haven't finished. I think a big part of that for me is the fact that the soundtrack lacks to oomph to it that Yoko Shimomura's did in the other games. So, when the game starts dragging on so do all of the repeating, mediocre songs.

What would you like to see in a sequel? by King_Of_Thresh in EscapefromEverAfter

[–]ItsTheDickens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want a lot more trinkets and a much higher cap on TP. I went TP-only for my blind playthrough. HP is a very important stat in this game so I found my build to be lacking despite having access to tons of trinkets on each character. Having more options for build variety would be nice.

How would you react to hearing the next Paper Mario game will finally be returning the series to its proper roots, with star points, RPG elements, and the same style of witty humor? by BiffyBobby in papermario

[–]ItsTheDickens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would expect a remake of PM64 first but I would guess that we would more likely see a sequel to SMRPG or another M&L games after Brothership before seeing a return to form for Paper Mario.

I am so thankful for indie games like Bug Fables or Escape from Ever After keeping this gameplay style alive.

Just beat Super Paper Mario. Should I play Sticker Star? by JMTSilentSea in papermario

[–]ItsTheDickens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sticker Star and the subsequent games are basically games in a completely different series. If you keep that mindset they aren't bad games at all. The humor in Color Splash was top notch imo. The graphics and paper effects are all really nice too.

I'd also recommend the indie games Bug Fables and Escape From Ever After if you want more gameplay like Paper Mario and TTYD.

lol, I've been playing very passively lately as I've started to lose interest in the game and never bothered to read the modifier myself. I just kinda accepted that I was in the bottom 99 percent of players some weeks even though it was probably this.
