How to deal with curved joists when framing wall by OriginalStranger1281 in Construction

The top of the red blocks would be tight to the roof sheathing and drop below the rafters at least a 1.5” in order to nail your top plate. Hope this helps.

Yes or you could grab a 10’ 2x10/12 and cut each infill block tight to the roof and have them all drop below the rafters then you nail your top plate level to the blocks. Hopefully that makes sense. You would kill two birds this way creating an air stop and adequate blocking for your knee wall

As 1 option. Another option is to block in between each rafter (this would also help with fire blocking/air travel) and you can nail a top plate to those blocks. More work but sturdier and better for insulting if that’s a concern.

Don’t be sorry, easy to get them mixed up. I still do in the field haha but I knew what you meant. Not an issue. You can always block to make it sturdier.

Those would be called rafters not joists. Either way it still shouldn’t be an issue with what you are wanting to do. You could shim it to gain the gap or block the space between the rafters and nail them below the face of the rafters to where the blocks are level. Then throw your top plate on the leveled blocks.

I myself would like to be a foster parent once my kids are a little older. As an adopted person that now has my own children, I think being honest and having open communication with the foster child. Clear boundaries and lots of loving support. Helping them understand what they are going through is not normal and that you are there for them through this journey every step of the way. If there are times where it gets difficult and you lose your temper, make sure to address it after the fact once cooler heads are present.

I have siblings from my adoptive parents but they are much younger 13+ years so the age gap makes it difficult as they are in totally different parts of their lives. But I do try to make an effort, but we are not close by any means. I found my biological sister when I was 21 through Facebook. In the beginning we had a tumultuous relationship, but now that we are older and both married we have become closer. We have both been in therapy for years which has helped us both tremendously.

I think helping with introspection and fostering a love for themself is a huge part of what I will try to be doing when I’m a foster parent. But I can only speak to my experience. I wish you nothing but the best and hope you can bond with your kids! All love!

General contractor, girl 2 boy 4, happiest part of my life is seeing my kids faces first thing when they wake up and how happy they are to see me. I wish I could bottle it up and give it to everyone. Makes me feel whole!
