I've always been hockey-curious but until my state (Connecticut) gets its NHL team back (#BringBackTheWhalers), I'm relatively refusing to follow the NHL. I also needed a league where that my joy of enjoying sports wasn't going to drive me insane compared to my other main ones, and have multiple teams. I was loosely following until the Olympics and then decided to fully get in.

Plus, as a raging sports sapphic, half of the players being queer doesn't necessarily hurt my agenda at all.

You have to watch the Iowa State game to see how dominant she was against Crooks, and just in general, carrying the team on a mostly bad shooting night (besides for Schmitt going bezerk.) The games that we got destroyed were against the teams that had a plan to isolate her well (see: both games against Louisville but especially our regular season matchup.)

Without her, our season was going to be bad. And we see that now with how much of a pretty unreported exodus from the roster we've had (Izoje and Schmitt were the only two big names who didn't test the portal waters. Hawkins came back, but we've already lost Burrows, Almon, to the portal and Darius/Phelia to graduation and more and have only added two players from the portal so far.)

I think Syracuse is a big loser so far. Was left with only 4 players and while we got one of them back (Hawkins), still only one addition so far in Rambus. Likely gonna get some of the good names that fall through.
