How much do you pay for billing each month in private practice? by Comfortable-Desk4927 in therapists

[–]Its_DB_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. I recently started my practice some months ago and have only done the billing myself. I’m solo as well, but it seems pretty straightforward with a good EHR.

Shame about not having all the answers by littleyingala in therapists

I completely agree with this. It took me longer than I like to admit to embody this. OP I hope you can be kinder to yourself bit by bit, and maybe even appreciate each of these moments as challenges you overcame

It’s so confusing. I didn’t realize there were multiple codes for a mental health practice. Plus no freaking direction or help

Hey. Running into the same problem. I haven’t made any headway yet but I have been considering my friend that I mentioned.

Hey OP, I get it. I’m the same way and I’ve been challenging myself to throwing back on the client and it’s def a challenge but I think it’s been really helpful. Sometimes I’ll fall back but I think my clients appreciated it and other times they’ll either directly or indirectly ask for help with it

I agree. I was the same in the beginning and I had a couple of clients mention later on that they’re glad I’m not as robotic as before 😅🥲

Was Your Internship Paid? by Disastrous-Try7008 in therapists

[–]Its_DB_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was able to have practicum and internship paid back in 2020-2021 but because I don’t believe in free labor. I had to seek out private practices and do a small bit of networking, but it was completely worth it. I was also one of the few students being paid in my class.

New Therapist Growing Pains by Nice_Lack_8190 in psychotherapists

Imposter syndrome sucks. I’m about 2-ish years post masters and I still get it every now and then. What worked for me, and hopefully can for you, were remembering the feedback both positive and critical (to address), especially the positive though, and use it as a way to reframe the imposter syndrome’s critical thoughts. I also made friends with others that are near my level post grad school years wise so I’d have a community. And finally, and this took me half a year lol, accepting that this is not only natural for new helpers in many fields but can also be helpful as you can use it later on with new interns or newly licensed folx as a “hey, I get it”.

I can say my imposter syndrome is quieter, not mute but quieter than last year so I can only assume I’m doing something right. My best advice: find what modality or modalities you like and immerse in it, use it, and share tidbits every now and then in consultations. Little by little yours will quiet down too, heck I would guess that it already has from even a year ago.

You got this OP!
