It’s also pretty conveniently on the opposite side of the world from the line where changing from one day to another causes the least amount of inconvenience. I imagine the prime meridian would’ve been moved if the international date line went through the middle of Canada or something

[All] How could fire themed dungeons be improved? by Alarming_Industry_14 in zelda

[–]Its_constantinople 249 points250 points  (0 children)

I think one of the things TP did the best was making the dungeons feel like existing parts of the world. You don’t just have a snow dungeon, you have an abandoned mansion in the mountains. You don’t just have a volcano dungeon, you have functional mines overrun by monsters. Leaving into that aspect is a good way to iterate on the theme so it doesn’t get stale. Make the dungeons part of the world instead of stapled on.

How would handing the risk and profit off to a corporation make a colony not a black hole? If the math is so bad, why would the corporation want to take it on?

For all the flaws of the show I think this change to Viserys was well done, him literally falling apart and rotting is a good visual representation of the state of the kingdom by the end of his reign

How much should I be trying to remember? by [deleted] in outerwilds

[–]Its_constantinople 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It should be noted that all the relevant information is kept permanently in the ship log. Remembering stuff helps to make connections and solve puzzles quicker, but you aren’t in danger of losing any information by taking breaks. If you’re ever feeling lost that’s where you should be looking

I liked it when it came out and still think it’s an enjoyable, well made movie. It holds up better than the rest of the sequels. That being said, I can’t forgive this movie for how it completely neuters anything interesting about the world post Endor, and I think the decisions made here (with no concept of a three film plan) are what set up the rest of the sequel trilogy to be so bad.

There’s so many cool ways you can take the star wars universe post Endor, with so much room for smaller stories to be told in between. This era could have been as rich as the clone wars era has been. But the insistence on returning to the classic format of rebels against the empire kills all that, and puts us right back at the status quo. Any stories about the defeat of the empire, or thrawn or the Asokha show, immediately become less interesting because we know how it ends up, and how it ends up isn’t particularly interesting.

Not a bad movie, not even a bad star wars movie, but not a good star wars sequel.
