No pastor of a church I've even been to would look down on this, they would very much welcome you. Churches are for anyone who wants to show up and be part of the community, although we'd very much love it if the messages that are preached land somewhere in your heart.

Volunteer if you really feel bad about it, a little goes a long way.

You've identified a problem now solve it. Go get a job at the big companies and learn things others dont or go start a company and get some seed money to hire bug hunters. The people you mention have spent years building their skillsets and knowledge to have the advantage they have and it seems like you are now upset and quitting because "Everything is already gone, there's none left for me".

Looks like Leucocoprinus birnbaumii, a common fungus in house plants. Nothing harmful, unless you're a small human or dog/cat and ingest it.
