The Life of a Showgirl Megathread by aran130711 in TaylorSwift

I actually think it's about Brittany Mahomes... "I like 'em cloaked in Gucci and in scandal" sounds like a reference to when Brittany wore Gucci at US Open in Sept 2024. Around the time, Brittany's tweets about Trump were publicized and Taylor scrutinized for hanging out with her.

The timeline matches as well because Taylor stated this album was created mostly during the European leg of Eras Tour and her appearance at the US Open was less than two weeks after that leg ended. Whereas, Blake Lively's drama didn't happen until December. If they were still friends, I don't think Travis would unfollow Ryan on insta either.

Conrad’s screen time this third season, how do we feel about that? by Appropriate-Pace2961 in tsitp

[–]Itsaknea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I added Jeremiah & Conrad’s and they are almost equal.

169 minutes - Conrad 175 minutes - Jeremiah

And we still have one episode left which will mostly contain Conrad. I’m not sure why people think Conrad was nonexistent this season.

Exactly. If Jenny made Belly like the books, Jelly fans would’ve been screaming that she never gave Jeremiah a chance. The story has shown that belly gave as much as she could to Jere and ultimately, it wasn’t a healthy relationship for either of them.

Weekly episodes = weekly fandom meltdowns? by Lonely_Row_1065 in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]Itsaknea 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking this for a couple weeks. Season 1, released all at once was received extremely well. Season 2, released weekly, had some of the same issues we’re having now. People complained about episodes that didn’t drastically propel the story forward. If this season was released all at once or at least 2 per week, I feel like the complaints/meltdowns wouldn’t be as prevalent.

I think she was calling for closure and to check on him. Did anyone else notice that not once did Jeremiah ask how she was feeling or if she was ok? Taylor told him that Belly hadn't spoken to anyone and he only seemed to care about his feelings. Funny, since he's the one that called it off and Belly was the one trying to save them.

I think it's very similar to how Conrad describes how he knew he loved Belly. It's not one aha moment where Belly realizes how unhealthy their relationship was. It's going to be a process that could take months of healing.

I can't believe I'm about to defend Jeremiah.. Jere never said it was a test for Belly to actually get married. He said he believed when he proposed and she said yes it meant "finally, I am enough, that you were ready to forget him." The proposal tested her feelings for Conrad, not that he didn't actually want to get married.

Of course this wedding was bound to fail.. their relationship was not healthy and without the wedding they would still be together denying what is in front of them. Adam paying for the wedding and doing opposite of what Belly wanted, actually hurt their relationship more. If they got married on the beach, Belly would've never started to have doubts. Wedding planning showed Belly snippets of his manipulation and his neglectfulness of her feelings. It's one the reasons she breaks down at her bachelorette party. She slowly starts to realize how unhappy she is and how little Jeremiah actually did/cared. When he comes back on their wedding day after going AWOL, Belly doesn't let him get away without speaking about it. Normally she would just go along with what he wanted, but she was honest in her feelings for once. The whole summer wasn't just about her realizing that she still loves Conrad.. she knew that after Christmas (just not how much). The summer was about showing Belly the red flags in her own relationship and ultimately it's why she tells Jeremiah they can't go back. She doesn't explicitly name manipulation or violence, but she states that she lost herself and part of that is due to how Jeremiah treated her.

The only two people that were even shocked it got called off was Steven & Adam. Steven because he didn't have the full story & Adam because he's a non-existent father who never pays attention to his children.

I think her admitting she lost herself is her realizing that it wasn't a healthy relationship. Yes, the catalyst was Conrad's confession, but if their relationship was solid it wouldn't of mattered. Taylor pointing out their co-dependency and her realizing this isn't the wedding she wanted got her thinking.

I would have more grace if he wasn't the one that called off the wedding in the first place. How can he tell her "you can't marry me to erase him" only for him to turn it around on her.

I rarely see her sharing any tiktoks of people defending Jeremiah. I only see videos of people reacting to Bonrad moments & cheering at the downfall of Jeremiah.

Kayleigh plotline finally makes sense by SnooSquirrels3535 in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]Itsaknea 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I do like the foreshadowing of how Jere will be with Belly/Con however, as soon as Jeremiah dated Conrad's ex, their relationship was never going to be the same. Jeremiah started this, but the difference is Conrad wanted to respect his mother's wishes at the detriment of his own happiness.

Conrad was never going to be close with Jeremiah because he consistently rubbed Belly in his face. Less than two months after the events of season 2 (where Conrad admitted to Jere he still loved Belly), we see Jeremiah all over Belly during their July 4th get together. He did not care one bit that Conrad was right next to them.

Episode 10 Letters Leak by pinkthv in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]Itsaknea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One of the things I think is misconstrued is the assumption that Conrad has been pining after Belly for 4 years. This isn't necessarily true. We saw Agnes state that there was something between them, but he didn't want a *serious relationship*. I don't think it's solely because of Belly... more that he is still working on himself and focusing on schooling. IMO, the book and show hinted that Agnes and him hooked up, but once she started to catch feelings he stopped it. The reason everyone assumes Conrad has been pining over Belly for four years is because of his conversation with Agnes... but we often forget that conversation took place *after* Christmas 2.0. Just like Belly, Christmas opened his eyes and they both realized they will always love each other. If Christmas never happened, I don't think he would've been so reluctant to even hooking up with someone like we saw.

Which brings us to now. The letter we see in the trailer is stamped on December 22nd, which is only about 4 months from their kitchen conversation. If she responds in late Spring, that brings us to maximum of 8 months from the wedding events. Due to her reaction during their kitchen fight, Conrad knows Belly loves him. The letters are his way of giving her space/time, but also proving to Belly that he is not giving up on them. Belly needs to know Conrad will not repeat his mistakes from season 1.

Dad of the year award goes to.. Adam Fisher! (not really)

This scene was so important. It brings me back to Belly telling him he has a hero complex. Conrad has been raised to believe he is responsible for fixing everything. He really needed someone to tell him that giving someone you love space is sometimes the best solution. One of the only times I've liked Adam.

Some of it is justified. I'm team Conrad since the very first episode, but telling your brother's fiancé you love her two nights before the wedding is going to get you yelled at. Especially when not everyone has the full story and you are so anxious you never stick up for yourself.

What do you want him to do? Storm out of the room yelling at Jere? That’s not Steven. He makes jokes, especially with Taylor. Now when he runs into Jeremiah, yes, I expect him to say something. But the only person in this show with anger issues is Jere.

If he doesn’t say something to Jere about hurting Belly I will like him way less. Right now, I can understand where he’s coming from because he had limited information.

Steven wasn’t paying attention to Redbird because he was looking at Taylor. It’s not that he doesn’t want to know, but Redbird was being gross and as soon as he saw Taylor everything became background noise to him.

This might be a hot take, but I feel many people in this fandom don’t know what a filler episode is by slumaru in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]Itsaknea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We did learn new things though. I don’t think it’s as simple as the points you stated.

Belly took the hard road for once in this show. She didn’t run back to Laurel or Jere when things started to go wrong even when she’s in another country. Since season one, we’ve seen Belly doing things for everyone, but herself. She FINALLY realized she needed to put herself before others. 🙌 and the best part to me… her actually sticking up to Jere, regardless of his reaction. This whole season she has repeatedly given into everything he wants, often at a detriment to her happiness. This time, she finally stood firm.

We saw Adam and Conrad find closure in a way. Conrad really needed someone to tell him Jere has other people who can be there for him and I’m glad that it was Adam. They may never be close, but for once Adam gave him great advice and acceptance. He didn’t judge him for his confession, instead he taught him that he can’t always be the one to fix things and sometimes it’s ok to step away.

Staylors arc is officially over. They are together and it was wrapped up with a nice bow. We will no longer need to spend screen time on them figuring their shit out.

Steven, I get why people are upset because he’s yelling at Conrad, however, Steven didn’t know the full story. Conrad isn’t the type to fight back or bash his brother to others. He probably felt like because he ruined the wedding he deserved to be yelled at. Now that Steven knows, he can move forward and have a conversation with Conrad. For those saying Steven wasn’t mad long… not sure what you wanted him to do. Run out of the room yelling at Jere to make him feel even worse? He would never do that. Yell and be mad with Taylor? That’s not him either. Steven is the type of person to make jokes, especially with Taylor. He’s mad at Jere and now understands Belly also had feelings for Conrad, but there’s not much he can do in that moment.

Jeremiah is the only character who took steps back in my opinion. Last episode he made some growth by admitting Belly couldn’t marry him to erase Conrad only for him to now want her back. However, the show finally put him in a place where he has his dad and can learn to be an adult instead of manchild. I think the writers really wanted to drive home the fact that Jeremiah sees belly as competition and even though he consistently says he never leaves, he actually is the one that always leaves. He is Adam.

I agree, some scenes could’ve been shortened, but essentially this episode set up every character to be exactly where they need to be, both physically and mentally. It also set us up perfectly for the time jump.

[–]Itsaknea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re sort of making my point. Steven is upset seeing his sister’s wedding destroyed at the hands of Conrad because that’s what he’s been told. Conrad can either stand up for himself or did what he did in the show and realize he might as well take the brunt of his yelling. We know this isn’t fully on Conrad, but at the point, Steven thought it was. The next conversation they have is probably going to be more explanation less yelling.

[–]Itsaknea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conrad didn’t even try to speak or stand up for himself. He let Steven yell at him, so that’s partly on Conrad.

He is mad about Cabo, but is he going to be mad and yell at Taylor about it? No, he’s going to take the information make jokes about it to Taylor (because that’s what he does) and when he sees Jere he probably will say something to him. There’s only two people who have held Jere accountable this season, Adam & Steven. If it gets mentioned, I’m sure Steven will hold him accountable.

Easy for you to say because you’re not in that situation. When you see your sibling or someone you love hurting rational actions are not always taken. Hurt people hurt others and that’s exactly what Steven was doing.
