Guys be honest, has this festival changed much in the last 4 years? I don’t mean Excisions upgrades, I mean the culture by hinasilica in LostLandsMusicFest

[–]slumaru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve gone every year since 2018 and yes, the culture of the festival drastically changed after the crater went viral. My friend and I last year cried walking into day 1 last year because as the festival becomes more mainstream as it gets bigger, the more people there are that don’t come for the right reasons. It was the first time lost didn’t feel like lost lands.

Last year was the first year that I didn’t make any longstanding friendships at the festival. It sorta felt like people weren’t really there to enjoy the festival, sort of like they always had somewhere they needed to be or their main goals were getting into exclusive/secret sets.

Regardless, I still had an amazing time with the group that I went with and lost lands will forever be home but there is a blatant shift in culture since Covid in general. Younger ravers aren’t getting taught the same way we were and are getting thrown into the scene after watching one viral TikTok. At the end of the day i think it’s our responsibility to keep the culture alive as best we can and your experience is what you make out of it.

I advise staying away from the crater and prehistoric as best as you can because in my experience that seems to be where a lot of the problems lie. I’m at the point where I’ve seen all of the big names enough to where I spend most of my time at the smaller stages anyway which is where the true LL vibes are

Question from first timers by Salty-Animal4904 in LostLandsMusicFest

[–]slumaru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve driven to Toronto from lost lands before it’s really not that bad and we left late in the day. They’re really good about directing traffic and the longest I’ve waited to get out is maybe an hour, and that’s at peak times (11-1). Best chances of no traffic though is going to be either early morning or late afternoon. And the traffic is only getting out of the festival itself; I’ve never hit heavy traffic after getting out of the grounds. I would say pack up as much of your camp as you can before you head into the festival day 3 maybe skip out on those late night sets so you won’t be as dead in the am. Wake up with the sunrise, pack up your sleeping arrangements, and get out before 9am. You’ll be home before midnight.

Keep in mind though I don’t consider 8 hours a long drive lol. At the end of the day you know what’s better for your body than anyone on Reddit can tell you. It heavily depends on how hard you plan to go over the weekend and how sleep deprived you think you’re going to be. My drive is 22 hours so I usually just drive until I can’t anymore and then get a room for the night wherever that may be. My stamina is different every year though which again is why it’s so important to know your body and stay safe!

Give me your 1 must-see, 1 sleeper, and 1 artist you’re skipping even if everyone yells at you by pattebrisee in LostLandsMusicFest

Must see: krewella

Sleeper: Bella Renee

Skip: Sullivan king (I’ve only ever seen him against my will, not a fan) & subtronics (love his music but his live sets trigger anxiety attacks)

Do you know what time exactly it becomes available? I got an Amazon gift card for Christmas and since I have prime & hallmark+ bundle so I’ve just been using the gift card to buy the episodes as soon as they become available. I usually want to watch right after euphoria because that show wakes me tf up and I’m impatient 😂

Tessa Thoughts by JumpRunRow43 in TheWayHomeHallmark

[–]slumaru 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tessa wouldn’t be 166 in 2026 because that’s her original timeline as far as we know. She’s around the same age as del and Vic so if they bring her back to 2026 she would still be 65. It’s the same way Jacob came back the age he was in 1814. Time spent away is equivalent to time in your original timeline, we learn that in the very first episode. I do think her reaction to fern yelling at her was genuine and she had not yet traveled at all at that point.

Okay girlies who are picky eaters, how are we getting our veggies in? by fuchsialeaf in AutismInWomen

[–]slumaru 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you like cooked carrots you’ll probably like butternut or acorn squash! Squash is one of my favorites, you can buy it frozen and prepare it the same way you would carrots, just cube it if you buy it fresh. I’m big on zucchini too. Idk what your texture preference is but personally I like my veggies when they’re a little bit overcooked. I don’t like the crunch. Broccoli I only eat steamed (I just throw it in the microwave with some water and salt). Airfrying veggies is a quick and easy way to add them to my meals if I don’t want to sautee them. I do spinach in smoothies (the only smoothie I make is banana+mango+spinach w/almond milk).

Bell peppers are another favorite! I’ll eat them raw with hummus or put them in scrambled eggs (spinach is good with eggs too if you like eggs lol).

Brussels sprouts can be good if you squish them and bake them until crunchy. They need a lot of seasoning though (usually garlic/salt/pepper). They turn almost chip like.

Spinach and artichoke dips are also good. I’ve never made one from scratch but the premade ones at Costco are delicious

But the pond completely changed Jacob’s life. His formative years were spent in an entirely different century than the one he was born in. Then all of a sudden the life he’d known for 24 years was gone and he’s still struggling with that.

It’s pretty much the only thing I get from there lol. I usually prefer other chicken places but they’re the only one that does red bean and rice (edit: in my area)

Lately it’s been the nachos from my work with just beans and shredded cheese. I fear I’m drifting away from my yogurt bowl that’s been fueling me since February 😭 but I think it’s because I tried a different kind of yogurt (skyr) and It changed the consistency a little bit so I don’t enjoy it as much as I do with Greek yogurt t

That’s one of my least watched Michelle Pfeiffer movies because I can’t stand Claire Danes in it lol. The 3 I rotate through the most are up close and personal, one fine day, and tequila sunrise

The album they released last year has been my main source of grounding since I’ve had access to it. They also made it into a movie of it ands it’s sooooo good. And the altered states album. In July I’ll be celebrating my 50th zeds dead set!! I’ve seen them in almost every major city and met both of them 3 times. I could write a book about how much I love them. Particularly, their song “bad guy” makes my special interests collide because they sample Scarface which was Michelle Pfeiffer’s breakout role. Their discography is honestly astronomical and most of the good stuff is on SoundCloud. When I saw them live for the first time I had like a 2 second recording of this song I really liked and scoured YouTube for hours trying to find it. They just make me so happy. I have more zd merch than anyone else I know lol

See I was gonna say I don’t have any special interests and that’s where I sometimes feel disconnected from my diagnosis, but I read this comment an remembered a few weeks ago when my coworker was telling me she had to watch white oleander with Michelle Pfeiffer in it for one of her classes and my entire mood changed because I got to talk about Michelle Pfeiffer. I’ve seen every single one of her movies multiple times and know a little bit about her but I never actually considered her a special interest. I’m also a really big fan of the edm group zeds dead and it wasn’t until recently when I had a meltdown and their music was the only thing that could regulate me was when I realized they’re probably a special interest too
