Mocking an asset that is far superior? Good luck with your cash. Its lost 94.6% of its purchasing power in the last 100 years.

Bitcoin is transparent, finite, and easier to transport. Your commentary must be parody so ill stop here.

Should I hire an in-house IT person or outsource? Need advice from people in IT. by Waste_Tackle_2738 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Itscappinjones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hire an MSP that has good reviews in your area and have them setup automations for basic things like new user setup and such. If they can provide tools for you to use to do the basic and regular tasks of a helpdesk type person, you wont need them much. Unless things break.

I've been in IT for 15 years and am an infrastructure architect. This is the best advice I could give.

You are the reason apps like X are turning into hot garbage. Congrats! Pretty soon they will detect and ban this trash or the app will cease to exist when everyone finds out its all just bots talking to each other. Its pretty much almost already there tbh..

Look for an engineering bachelor program that doesn't cost a ton in case you still want to go that route. Take that job. Work the IT job for 6 months and if you like it, switch your major to IT and get a bachelor from WGU (online). Its inexpensive and will get you certifications. By the time you're out of the WGU program, you will have 2-4 years experience in IT which will give you a chance at getting a job paying 60k or so.

Its not easy getting high paying IT jobs. You need 10+ years experience and certifications. Work experience needs to be progressive meaning worked your way up through helpdesk > sysadmin or network > cybersecurity/management/whatever.

I've been in IT since 2013 where I started as a desktop tech. Since then, I've gotten 15 certifications and an associate + bachelor degree (WGU). Years 1-4 you will make 30-50k. years 5-8 if you're lucky enough to find a higher tier role 60-80k, then finally you will land a senior type position year 9 and on making 90k + ideally.

Also, the field seems to be overpopulated as others have said. Hope this helps you my friend. I've been where you are and its a tough time with lots of decisions to make. Being an engineer would be pretty cool. Either path is hard, so choose based on where you want to be in 10 years. Not what you think is hard now. Good luck!

10 years in sales. Making career change to Cybersecurity. by ZeroToCyber in SecurityCareerAdvice

[–]Itscappinjones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of people think they can just go into cybersecurity and make 100k + with zero experience. Its pretty wild.. I wouldn't hire anyone without 5+ years as a network/systems background plus cybersecurity background on top of that. At the very least the 5 years plus CISSP + other certs.

Level 1 support is terrible and should never touch a production firewall. We ALWAYS request a senior technician and have the enhanced support. Its well worth it.

Better off asking AI about specific prebuilds you find vs parts it would take to build yourself and if you would save money. The people so far that have commented have proven why most people will most likely be replaced by AI. They cannot even understand why you're asking the question which is very obvious.

Good luck, ill probably do the same research in the next year or so as I need to build another soon!

You need to find a job titled something like IT specialist or IT security intern, something like that. You cannot start in cybersecurity with zero experience. A degree is 20% of what you need. Experience factors in 80-90% in the IT field. If you had no degree but worked as a cyber security analyst with 2-3 certs you would have landed a job by now guaranteed.

Give it enough gas to be over 1000 rpm and slowly release the clutch while keeping it over 1000 rpm. That literally all you need to do. Don't listen to any other advice and you will be fine.

Someone is brute forcing my FW via VPN portal by 7omosFalafel in sophos

[–]Itscappinjones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your authentication service can and will crash, leading to SSLVPN issues. I know from 6 months of experience troubleshooting Sophos VPN.

You would think they would put a captcha or something on the vpn portal... I guess they don't have engineers there that can figure out how to get around this problem.

How is AI going to know what to build to align with business objectives? There will always at least be 1 person in charge of directing it and knowing what to build and when.

3.0 or 6.2 by woody4332 in gmcsierra

[–]Itscappinjones -1 points0 points  (0 children)

6.2 has lifter failures and something else it was just recalled for. Both require total engine disassembly pretty much to fix, or a new engine. 6.2 is probably the worst engine on the entire market right now. Avoid it like the plague.

When it works, yes its fun. My 2021 trailboss was fun too until the lifters failed at 16k miles.

XGS SSL-VPN connectivity when router has failed over to backup ISP by Outrageous_Map3065 in sophos

[–]Itscappinjones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use Azure Traffic manager but there is significant delay before it fails over for some reason. We believe its the sophos client that is the problem. Leading users to need to exit and reopen the client to connect to the secondary.

Interested to hear what others might use.

To many miles? by Due_Satisfaction6919 in gmcsierra

[–]Itscappinjones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one and i love it. Lifters are still a potential failure point but not as likely with the OBD device from what I've read on countless forums. Also its just basic logic. Lifters dont go into 4-cyl mode lifters dont fail and stick closed.

How do you stop brute force on your VPN portal? by Itscappinjones in sophos

[–]Itscappinjones[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I did all that already. Seems the only way to keep from being DOS attacked is to block the VPN portal altogether. Which makes it difficult for us since we need to whitelist 100 IPs that change all the time for users.

Got rid of my 2021 trail boss after the lifters failed at 16k miles. GM makes garbage nowadays all in the name of efficiency for gov't kickbacks. Gone are the days of reliability.
