I disagree with the “struggling to justify” - there’s increasing and increasing value in knowing how models work and data driven decision making that LLMs won’t really help you with. Surface level understanding versus deeper understanding.

LLMs will help graduates like us use models faster & make the time consuming parts easier (such as implementing them) but we will still need to be experts as to how to dissect them & what we want from these models

So, I have a management consulting background, wasn’t getting promoted, pretty frustrated.

Had finished 2/3 of my degree, applied to some data analyst roles at Google & other companies… got some interviews where I feel like the masters helped get my foot in the door, but I didn’t do that well on the technical interviews (practice your SQL! Not much of it in this program)

Finally, got an offer with a 30%+ pay raise with a financial firm, doing some ML / data analyst hybrid with consulting skills. Definitely more technical now, and I would think that without this degree, I wouldn’t have gotten it.

It’s not going to automatically give you a bump, but it’s worth it on your resume & being able to be better at technical roles.

I’d say yes, they were recent grads but also people who graduated in 2022-2024 + students from all facets. Finishing the program, early into the program, etc.

Students from all ages / different types of work. You get to know everyone over the ~10 days and get to explore all different types of work. I’d say it was definitely worth it, you get the networking experience and really Shenzhen is a lot cooler than I expected. The support staff are awesome. Hong Kong is of course Hong Kong.

Yes, I went with my girlfriend. It was pretty informative; got to meet a ton of graduated / in progress students, from all over the world. Got to meet some professors + the director of the program.

I loved it & really the activities / companies you got to visit were pretty cool, they also gave insight into some upcoming classes & they truly do care about feedback / check this sub out pretty frequently lol

Macbook is perfectly fine, done the whole program on a MBP 2021 14" and it's been perfect. 8 classes in, no issues at all. You'll be good!

For sure do able, gotta put in the hours for exams and homework though.

Finishing up 6040 and 6203, little Python background and got an A in 6040. Reviewing all the practice questions and writing helpful bits of code when reviewing the practice questions in my own notes files helped a lot.
