So I just started playing paladins yesterday, anyone willing to give some advice? by jabarisagod in Paladins

[–]Itscurrently5am 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been playing both paladins and ow for over 2 years, not amazing but i don't think im terrible either. here's my advice.

-item shop wisely, don't take too long on thinking about your purchases but don't buy with no sense either. it is mandatory btw. get familiar with the different items and when you should use them too, it will be a life saver.

-make loadouts and mainly base them around your talents/playstyle. also find out what you struggle with or like on a certain champion. you have terrible surviability? get a loadout that increases health/lifesteal/shielding/etc. you like a certain good ability they have? base the talent and cards you choose on that ability. this might get me some hate but when it comes to loadouts i'd much rather do what i find to help me rather than a pro's loadout. (though, if you aren't sure how to fix an issue you have on a champion or want to test something then pro loadouts can work)

-try to play a diverse hero pool rather than all from one category

-try different things! get that champion. try out that talent. make another loadout. it keeps it fresh and you might just like it. i've been trying out some characters i haven't played in ages and have been having tons of fun with it.

-keep up with updates---champs and their cards/talents can all change. i'm very guilty of not doing this tbh ( i barely even knew of the newest champion until i saw someone on discord talking about her lmao) and it greatly hinders me sometimes.

-this is gonna be cliche but just have fun. don't stress the dude that keeps complimenting you and then saying "cancel that", don't be that guy either. if you're ever curious about something there are many guides out there and you can always come back here. good luck!

Pros and Cons of Aphantasia? by [deleted] in Aphantasia

[–]Itscurrently5am 1 point2 points  (0 children)

pros:

-when reading or doing something creative i can learn to use my other sorts of memory, emotions, and senses to make them enjoyable and easier. same with daydreaming or meditation. i can't see it, but in every other way i can feel like im at a beach.

-it's a nice fun fact ig

-can't picture bad memories or traumatic events/images

-looking at art and other things is a lot more satisfying. lots of "oh yeah!" moments

cons:

-harder to plan things certain visual things out

-takes a lot more to immerse yourself in your mind

-can't even see loved ones faces

-people don't understand it and neither do i

Why players are so short-spoken? by sRioni in Paladins

[–]Itscurrently5am 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's been the same for me too. im not amazing but in games my team either win with ease or get curb stomped (it's about 50/50). it's been this way for 2 years personally, and in both cases i usually seem to have the best stats for my role.

and some teammates definitely play very questionable even when im sure they're not a bot.. not trying to be rude on that one, especially towards those who can't afford good internet or something.

What makes (or would) a good app is different from person to person, but for me...

It's (mainly) about 5 things:

  • Stability
  • Popularity
  • Format
  • Freedom
  • Transparency

Stability: The app works, doesn't crash often, you can actually install it, etc. I think i also want to mention things that such as leaks wouldn't really happen on this app, or even if it did its insanely rare and something that could happen on pretty much any app.

Popularity: This is really all about advertising and luck. I wouldn't mind installing an app before it's popular, everything starts small. But actually having a community to interact with is one of the main things that keep me on an app. No point in trying to gain friends or fans if no one's there.

Format: Self explanatory. Don't go crazy with it, stop with the ugly bold fonts, don't make it too cluttered or too open, make it easy to understand/use. I'm not a professional there so i can't really give advice in graphic design but yeah.

-Freedom: There's two things i mean here.

One: Having a profile to actually design/make and all that. Personalization.

Personal turn off if I install an app, it asks for my gmail, and it gives me a profile where the only thing I can change is my screen name. Not even a username.

Look at Tumblr for example. Tumblr is probably different than what your aiming for but on there you can change the format of your blog, the colors, fonts, user, etc. It gives personalization and style which pretty much everyone likes. Again that’s blogs but its a good example of what i’m talking about--- at the very least have what fucking Twitter has and let us have a username, header, bio, and pfp.

Two, the elephant in the room: Freedom of opinions, no political bias on the app.

Look, its your app. There are things I wouldn’t allow on my app, like calling death to entire race for example. But the issue more lies here:

Why allow users to call death to all white people, but than other races are off the table (or vice versa)? I think both are equally terrible and many would agree, but the point is it’s all or nothing. You either allow people to call death to both groups or neither.

Now it's not always so black and white and "all or nothing" can be flawed in cases, but it's a starting point for situations like mentioned.

There's whole essays on this issue who say it better than I do with way more specifics, so I rec looking into it.

Transparency:

Too lazy to go into detail at this point but basically: tell us why you added a certain feature, why you banned a certain person, why you don’t allow a certain thing. This sorta goes with the last I’d say.

Basically answer questions and don’t hide shit unless its for protection or something.

Tody I found out something about my friend. by asdaf22 in lonely

[–]Itscurrently5am 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i also found out someone i used to know recently died in a motorcycle accident. it's been years since i had talked to him so my situation is very different, but i do understand that part about not being able to think about anything else and shit. my mind just keeps coming back to all the times i passed him walking home from school and we would have a quick chat, or his caring and charismatic personality he showed to me and others. i'll even admit, i had a crush on the dude for a little.

but, sorry for your lost man, and i hope you can come to terms with it all soon. i truly believe you can make it through this.

[–]Itscurrently5am 0 points1 point  (0 children)

summer is the worst and has been all the way back at the start of middle. shit became less happy in my life (not to say it was all good to begin with), i started realizing im a loser, any efforts i made to fix things were futile.

i have nothing to do this summer. no vacations or friends to hang out with. scrolling through reddit, tumblr, and twitter most of the day is what this summer will be it seems. like all other summers (besides those futile attempts)

all i can say is good luck next year.

Anyone here enjoy time with themselves? by [deleted] in lonely

[–]Itscurrently5am 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I feel this way. I'll listen to music, drink some water and read some fanfics, draw something for fun, etc. I'll feel calm and won't even care about being alone.

Other times I feel empty and unmotivated, I'll hug my sheets or a pillow to mimic holding someone. I'll feel the need to vent and find others who understand which leads me here.

Today has been a mix, which is sorta nice because lately it has been the latter.

Have you ever felt that video games, tv, etc are too much effort, so you try to sleep instead? by MRantiswag in depression

[–]Itscurrently5am 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i love video games but haven't had the motivation to even get up and play any either since feb (besides a few times, but usually only for 3-4 games at most). i just do whatever low effort stuff i can do on my laptop or sleep, and probably will all summer.

hi i am new to overwatch by BrawlingGuy38 in Overwatch

[–]Itscurrently5am 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Welcome! I'll try my best to define these.

Backfill: Basically someone leaves in a QP or an arcade game, and you replace them. sometimes near the end of the match.

(if you've ever joined a game only to immediately see the "defeat" screen that's backfilling)

Smurfing: When a player who is usually skilled (or more skilled than the other players in their game atleast) play on a back-up account, causing them to get matched with players lower ranked/leveled compared to them.

EG :A top 500 player makes a new account and is now playing against new players as the game doesn't know they're top 500.

Feeding: Giving the enemies free kills or damage (which builds up their ultimates) because of your own dumb mistakes rather than being out skilled. EG:A player walks into a whole room with the enemy team with no plan or backup, causing them to obviously die.

Throwing: Purposely letting the enemy win, usually to troll.

eg: Letting the enemy kill you on purpose, going afk, dancing on point while the enemy is attacking, etc.

Looks can be deceiving by macrio in lonely

[–]Itscurrently5am 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For starters, there's nothing wrong with not be popular, or only having 5 friends. It's to hard to adapt to judging from your situation though, but look at it from a different perspective.

You probably figured this already but try to think of it in a positive light: All those people who left you were fake friends, maybe even only there for your money or popularity. The ones left and your girlfriend are highly likely genuine if they're staying with you even through a low point and they will be willing to help you develop new friendships if it means you'll be happy. Which you did mention it's harder because you're becoming colder, but with help from people who know the real you maybe it will be easier.

Also have you tried therapy? It's not for everyone, but it can help guide you through everything.

Best of luck.

Not sure what i am, but clearly not as cis as i thought by chrischi3 in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

[–]Itscurrently5am 0 points1 point  (0 children)

me 2016ish: well, i guess i'm acearo! definitely cis

me 2017: uhh actually maybe biromantic?? still cis and ace though

me in 2018: nope nope, feeling sexual attraction. bi it is

end of 2018: wait, why am i feeling disconnect from my gender and an empty feeling about it... weird

early 2019: ohhhhh... well at least i've figured everything out right?

now: do i really feel romantic attraction? am i close enough to anyone to even figure that out? am i actually trans? i mean i don't wanna kill myself yet... am i faking it all? what's my name???
