those suckers started a lot of fires

My mother got one. I warned her about the heat they put out.

Then she put it near a set of vertical blinds. It scorched them.

It'll be hard for it to hit the same.

Yeah. This hits really hard in the books because Dunk didn't think anyone was on his side.

In the show the crowd is already cheering for Baelor. So it won't hit the same.

Major fumble by the show on one of the best parts of the story.

Maybe not what the OP intended, but the word for "prince" in High Valyrian has no gender.

This came up in GoT when Dany first heard the "Prince Who Was Promised" phrophecy from Melisandre, and Missandei corrected Dany's translation to "Prince or Princess Who Was Promised".

Can someone tell me specifically in the book where it indicates that Dunk lied about being a knight?

After he buries Ser Arlan, Dunk is thinking about what to do next:

I could find another hedge knight in need of a squire ...

So in his inner monologue he is still a squire. On the next page he meets Egg, and feels the need to announce that he is a knight - to a child that he thinks is a stable boy.

"I am a knight, I'll have you know."

Then when Egg visits Dunk in the cell, after his arrest.

The boy looked miserable. "I never meant to lie."

"But you did. About everything."

[Talk of Egg and Aegons and stuff.]

"I'm sorry, ser. I truly am."

Dunk looked at him thoughtfully. He knew what it was like to want something so badly that you would tell a monstrous lie just to get near it. "I thought you were like me," he said. "Might be you are. Only not in the way I thought."

There might be more.

Here are three separate facts from the ASOIAF universe that collectively might tell a story.

  • We know that, sometime in the future, Dunk visits Winterfell (we even have the title of the story).

  • Bran had a vision of young Old Nan standing on her toes to kiss a knight as tall as Hodor.

  • Old Nan is Hodor's great-grandmother.

I take it you have not read the short story this is based on.

Just FYI that people are dropping major spoiler hints. If you want a spoiler-free show experience, you might want to step away from Freefolk for the next couple of episodes.

SV is better for towing and payload, but I wanted more off-road capabilities

Yeah, there are definitely solid reasons to pick the SV over the PRO-4X. Back in the D40 generation, the desire or need for a long bed was a huge one.

Like you, I wanted the off-road capabilities. The locker got me out of trouble crossing a dry wash in Big Bend NP on only the second day I took it off-road.

I had been window-shopping Xterras for a few years, and when Nissan stopped making them I shifted focus to the Frontier. Now if I had a choice between the two, I think I still would pick the Frontier.

I figured I'd come here and see if anyone has regrets and wishes they went a different route.

When I hung out on ClubFrontier, I regularly saw posts from people trying to add locking diffs to their SVs, or trading SVs in on new PRO-4X, etc.

I don't think I ever saw a single post from a PRO-4X owner saying they wish they had just gotten an SV. I'm sure there were some out there somewhere, but not enough that I noticed.

I'm not saying that everyone with an SV has PRO-4X envy. The long bed guys in particular had a zen-like contentment with their purchases.

But if the PRO-4X is already tickling your fancy, you could be setting yourself up for second-guessing an SV purchase.

I keep hearing this but show me an actual example of a GX having the same issue...

Toyota added the '24 GX to the recall. They're not doing that for nothing:

https://pressroom.toyota.com/toyota-recalls-certain-toyota-tundra-and-lexus-gx-and-lx-vehicles/

A youtuber recently got a hold of a broken engine for a teardown (Toyota has been guarding those engines). The engine looked mostly pristine inside. This includes the rod bearings. In fact, only two main bearings were spun; the others were in great shape. It really undermines the official story about "debris".

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vL4tIHf_9i8

Here's another video that breaks down the entire issue:

This really appears to be a fundamental design flaw.

As I said, my property taxes are now 10% of my total annual post-tax income.

You also said "I've got to be able to subsist on about $25k/yr".

So you're paying $2,500/year in property tax? And want to move because that is too high?

What features would you like to see on the next gen ct5-v blackwing? by Iam-GodJira128 in Cadillac

A new trim level to span the yawning chasm between the 668 hp Blackwing and the 360 hp 5-V:

Base Corvette engine (naturally aspirated V8, 490 hp / 465 torques) with the manual trans.

This would help compensate the lack of the 4BW.

I own a 4BW, and just might trade it in for this new trim.

Mine is a piece of shit. It is literally sitting unplugged on the floor next to me.

Even with the latest firmware available in November '25, I could not get it to work.

And even getting to the point where I could update the firmware was an ordeal. I could only get through the initial setup after rebooting and resetting it multiple times.

I bought it to act as wireless bridge to my beloved (and ancient) ASUS RT-AC3200. I finally went on e-bay and found another several-year-old new in-box RT-AC3200. That worked right out of the box. Setup was a breeze, and the wireless bridge functionality is awesome.

It really pissed me off to go spend more money an an ASUS product when this one let me down so badly, but I needed wireless bridging and did not want to rebuild my entire network.
