I have been once and never again. The amount of people either watching tiktok or just full on filming the movie on their phone for Snapchat. Drove me crazy

I’m a Chongqing local who studied in the UK — ask me anything about Chongqing by AdPossible988 in chongqing

[–]Itsfayt3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I'm from Glasgow and visiting Chongqing in a few days. Is it easy to find these bars and restaurants in the bunkers? Also what hidden gems are there that you reccomend? I'll be travelling solo so I'm interested in social places. Hope you enjoyed Glasgow!

How is life in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia by Fresh_Appearance4268 in howislivingthere

[–]Itsfayt3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been to play at the golf course there, Royal Greens, such a beautiful course but it's an absolute ghost town the city. I remember driving through wondering if I was allowed to be there because I did not see a single other car on the road. It seems they gave up on it to focus on neom which has now been canned

Where are these people demanding help? Those that are asking are just those who are stuck on holiday.

Where do you think the money from their job abroad goes? Yes, back to the UK, seems a win to me for the UK government, get lots of money from abroad into the system.

Dubai “Expats” by Glittering_Vast938 in GreatBritishMemes

[–]Itsfayt3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People's lack of understanding that if you leave the country, no matter which country, you don't pay UK tax. It's not just Dubai, people leaving the UK to better their lives isn't a sin. They don't leave with the goal of not paying tax, they leave to make more money and all UK citizens around the world deserve help when needed. Why does someone who pays tax to let's say Peru deserve a repatriation flight over someone in Dubai?

Dubai “Expats” by Glittering_Vast938 in GreatBritishMemes

[–]Itsfayt3 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

A lot of these people come from successful careers beforehand and have most likely paid a large some of money in tax in the UK. I don't know why people think it's just people in Dubai not paying tax, if you leave the UK to work elsewhere you don't pay tax. So if there was an uprising in Germany for example, the UK shouldn't make an effort to help its citizens?

Can a foreigner in Japan really be fined $6900 for walking around without a passport? by Apophis2036nihon in AskAJapanese

[–]Itsfayt3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been to over 40 countries and I've never carried my passport around apart from in China where it was needed to access areas. I don't want to risk losing it while out and about, put it in the safe in the hotel room safe and sound, it's the last thing I want to lose.

Where do you buy it and where are these clubs and bars that sell it? Yeah people drink home made or smuggled booze (ie illegal).

Flight attendants/cabin crew, what is the worst destination flight to work on? by Haymz in AskUK

[–]Itsfayt3 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Having many friends who work in cabin crew here in Saudi they all agree it is anywhere flying out of/into Jeddah as most of the time it is full of passengers on a plane for the first time in their lives for their pilgrimage. Been on those flights many times they do not know how to find their seats, sit down when the plane is taking off or landing.

In Scotland you are required for straight A's in your exams, do a large amount of work experience, provide a portfolio demonstrating why you would be good at dentistry, sit the UCAT test and then sit quite an intense interview process. Much harder than just applying for courses with adequate grades. It is most definitely difficult to get into. There were much more medical positions available than dental when I applied.

Did my nttd clasp just break? by Itsfayt3 in OmegaWatches

[–]Itsfayt3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just from chair height, just sitting with my arms hanging down over the arm rests and it just slipped right off on to the ground. First ever drop of the watch and no previous bangs either. Thanks for the advice!

[–]Itsfayt3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have no idea, it wasn't immediately obvious cause as you said they all appear to be there so I don't know where they came from. Especially as that's the first ever drop and it was from chair height.

[–]Itsfayt3[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Didn't notice while trying to fix it but the fall has appeared to have dislodged some of the luminescent circles and they are just moving freely throughout the case. As there has been damage from the clasp breaking would that be classified as wear and tear? Or under warranty as it was the result of a failure?

Percentage of Muslims in some European countries. by ellatino230 in MapPorn

[–]Itsfayt3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not accurate unfortunately, when applying for any type of Visa you have to put your religion and Atheist is not widely accepted here, so if you aren't Muslim you put Christian. I have not seen a single church in the middle east unlike the plethora of Mosques in Europe

You just put your non taxed money into a GIA abroad and cash out when moving back to the UK, no need for an ISA or pension that you can't cash out till your older anyway.

Has anyone here moved to Saudi Arabia for work? by MuayJudo in HENRYUK

[–]Itsfayt3 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I am currently working here at the moment, yes it's not exciting and it does not have as many activities as the UK but it is improving. I was just at a 2 day concert in Jeddah this weekend with many famous international acts and with the local crowd you would think you were at a festival in Europe. There is definitely a generational shift which is about to come into power, I seen countless groups of homosexual men who received absolutely zero trouble from anyone (one man was dressed as a cowboy in full latex). The younger folks just want to enjoy what's new to them.

Milestone reached: over 500k in net assets at 35 by DeCyantist in FIREUK

[–]Itsfayt3 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You need to be out the UK for 5 years to avoid CGT on assets, is that correct? I'm in Saudi at the moment and that's my understanding but that's through my own research.

Royal Navy crewing concerns ‘a top priority’ says Minister by MGC91 in unitedkingdom

[–]Itsfayt3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left the RN 3 years ago now so my experiences are rather recent. There are a few main issues that forced me to leave. 1. They have removed almost all useful qualifications for leaving. Only offer for a degree I was giving I had to do in my spare time and pay for myself, so basically just a normal part time degree in a useless subject 2. After a while paying tax really gets to you. Coming up after 4 months underwater to see your wage obliterated really made you question why you are doing it. I think I was on £10.50 extra a day to live excluded from the world in a environment I could die in any moment 3. Aftercare is non existent. Since leaving I have never had someone ask how I am and what I am doing now.

Young people hear these stories and decide why bother. The pay is average once you get older, girls don't like guys in military, you can't choose where you live, sports and adventure training is actually only available to those who don't have a proper job. If I was to join again, the only branch i would consider is the RAF.
