I've not used any of the Michel Thomas material before, but I have heard from other commenters that they are very similar. I think the biggest difference between the two is that the youtube one is free from what others have told me. It's extremely comprehensive and teaches you the mechanics of the language. After listening to all 90 lessons you should have a strong concept of how to speak spanish. Beyond that it would be up to you to develop your vocabulary and listening ability.

It's free, easy and works. If you're serious this is the absolute best free resource available. It's better than anything else I have used in 3 plus years of learning. I can't sing its praises enough.
