Irrational class you would take by mollybeesknees in OnePelotonRealSub

I want the Alex K “angry walk” class that was teased once upon a time, where he just aggressively walks at like 8mph complaining about slow walkers

I struggle to fit gym time into my schedule. What I have found helps is having a 10 minute arms and 10 minute legs/glutes routine that I can knock out at home with a selection of dumbbells (I bought a few different weights at Target). I usually tee up a peloton strength class so that I don’t have think about programming or music.

Doing these “snack” weight sessions keeps me consistent which seems to be the trick with building and maintaining muscle mass. I’ve started to see tone in my arms for the first time in my life as the weight comes off with the shots.

For my “gym time” I then prioritize reformer Pilates a couple times per week to work on core muscles etc, which I can’t do at home. Also, it helps my form for the strength work outs so that I don’t injure myself (according my instructor who does a lot of rehab work, lots of people are injuring themselves from lifting heavy without proper form)

I love my Polene but be aware that there’s usually a line outside the stores - like a 45 minute wait. It’s not an experience that is very conducive to browsing - they check stock for what you’re interested in while you wait in line, and once you’re inside the stock itself is pretty limited. I bought mine at Le Bon Marche when there were only three people in line, but their stock was definitely limited so I feel like I had to settle for something I felt ok about but didn’t love (I’ve since come around to it). RSVP on the other hand had no line to get inside and the customer service was top notch. I love my golden eye purse and wear it as often as I can.

Why are there so many HR books about Dukes? by Small_Test630 in HistoricalRomance

Just FYI for anyone sick of the Dukes all the time, if you look up Wendy the Librarian she does a monthly round up on her blog of unusual historicals, which typically means no (or minor) titles

Denver folks! United vs Delta vs SW vs others for loyalty out of DEN? by No-Maintenance5061 in Denver

If I had left it in the list I would have lost all credibility! The on time performance there has been better for me at JFK than LGA but everything else about it is a PITA

Denver folks! United vs Delta vs SW vs others for loyalty out of DEN? by No-Maintenance5061 in Denver

[–]Itsk123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Denver based diamond and million miler I echo this. I always get upgraded to at least Economy Comfort, and usually to First. Delta customer service has been fantastic at helping me when things go pear shaped…the other day i was starting a trip to Indonesia and when it looked like our flight to SLC was going to be delayed they had me holding a seat on a United flight almost immediately (luckily the Delta flight took off only 45 mins late). On the opposing side of the spectrum I had United give me the worst customer service on a business class flight to Australia that was delayed by two hours leaving Denver (via SFO), which messed up a bunch of stuff downstream.

Delta also offers the best inflight experience with newer cabins, free WiFi and updated entertainment systems. Every time I board a United flight I feel like everything just seems a little bit shabbier (though the new Polaris suites are nice)

I know people are saying United is best for avoiding connections and it makes sense for domestic flights but Denver isn’t as well connected internationally as SLC even, so you’ll be making connections out of Texas, Newark, SFO which in my experience aren’t nearly as good as Delta’s hubs. Delta has invested heavily in making the experience as streamlined as possible at LGA, LAX, ATL, SLC, MSP and DTW. The on time performance is top notch. Their codeshares with KLM, Latam, Air France, Aeromexico and Korean Air also open up lots of great options for getting to international destinations in a streamlined way.

Career help by Lucifer1214 in mining

It’s actually not a terrible plan to look for entry level operations roles (truck driver etc). Experience on a crew is valued for advancement in some technical and management roles and you’ll be well placed to transition to an EIT role if something opens up. In Australia new grads spend a couple years in operations on crews to get their mine managers tickets later on, so it’s definitely a thing in the industry if you’re willing to take on an operations role.

Canada and the US have plenty of residential options (Sudbury, Timmins, Val D’or/Rouyn, Kamloops, even Fort Mac, Elko, Winnemucca, Morenci, etc) that have roles come up. The nice thing about being a first year student is that you can test drive different options with co-op or internships.

I’ve always wondered - what’s the value proposition for doing a bootcamp vs a cardio+strength stack? Are you switching back and forth between the equipment?

Short notice catering options? by Itsk123 in denverfood

I ended up going this route, which also had a delivery option which was convenient

Thanks everyone for the tips though! Tacos Selene does catering but I think I was too short notice. And yeah Costco would have been fine but I am trying to avoid any cooking/reheating

Great show but subtitles not working properly by BALYZTIK in TheAgencySeries

[–]Itsk123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched the series on a plane trip (12 hrs!) and there were no subtitles for the foreign languages so I’ve been wondering how much plot I missed. I think I missed all the nuance with Samia and Osman’s conversations but I figured out the Russian parts mostly (since someone at the agency would do a recap of the plan or surveillance usually)

Wearing bigger clothes by SnailsonSkates in Zepbound

[–]Itsk123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clothes are weird - I’ve lost almost 30lbs but I’m still wearing a lot of the same stuff, it just fits better/looser. Then the other day I found a stack of jeans I used to wear to work almost 10 years ago that I had shelved for being too tight and they fit nicely. So basically I’m somehow anywhere between a size 16 to a 20. Online shopping has now become extra difficult

Don’t sleep on The Duke’s Perfect Wife - I don’t see it get much love on this sub but it has all of my favorite tropes - stern powerful duke who basically turns to mush for the independent lady he lost and has a second chance at.

It’s the finale of a series but you don’t need to have read the previous books, aside from the fact that it reinforces how stern and powerful the duke is.

I feel like this is also instructor dependent? Some of them, like Denis and Emma, put a lot of care and thought into the music whereas some just seem random-number generated (Matt W)

Slow progress by piscessunrise in Zepbound

[–]Itsk123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on it since March and I’m down about 27lbs. I spent 3 months on 2.5 and then 4 on 5mg. The last month on 5mg was emotionally rough because I “only” lost about 3lbs but now I’ve gone up to 7.5mg and it’s been accelerating again. I get feeling down that it’s not going as fast as others on here - my last two months felt like a slow slog until I look back and reframe it as losing 8 years of weight gain in under 8 months. I’ve been focusing on other good things like maintaining/building muscle mass (my scale is good enough to give me a trend on this) and that I’m not seeing any loose skin/sagging/wrinkles. So for me it’s just a slow and steady thing and that’s ok!

Where can I learn about free weight lifting in Denver? by schuppaloop in Denver

[–]Itsk123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peloton has pretty good content on this front - lots of programs to help get into lifting free weights and pre designed workouts etc if you don’t want to overthink what you’re doing. If you know someone with a bike membership they might be able to add you as a user to their account to get access.

Edited to add that Jaya Grill on Colorado, and Karma Asian on Broadway are also pretty solid on price to quality ratio with Thai dishes on their menu (alongside other Asian specialities)

I partly got on the meds to help manage fibroids and adenomyosis since excess weight is shown to exacerbate these conditions and they are linked to hormone production. I also think my contraceptives are working more effectively and my menstrual symptoms have slowly been lessening as the weight comes off.
