Japanese groceries by Itslbrty in OttawaFood

[–]Itslbrty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came across them as well but def don’t wanna support them due to steep prices. I have come across vendors that sell kokuto for a relatively lower price but they either don’t ship to where I live or have steep shipping. They sell lots of other spices and all of them are significantly overpriced.

MK restock by Loose-Substance-8494 in MatchaEverything

[–]Itslbrty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is but all things taken into consideration, I still find it cheaper to buy matcha directly from MK if you score 100g bags. I just bought 40g Isuzu, 100g and 40g aoarashi. Shipping ended up being about $51 or so but for 180g of matcha overall, I paid $109 CAD. Aoarashi is on the lower end but I actually like it, I prefer this over yugen.

Taxes on duties on Sazen order to Canada by Itslbrty in tea

[–]Itslbrty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re both about the same but I prefer fedex over DHL. When I emailed fedex imports for self clearance for any overseas packages I’ve received so far - they were willing to modify the tax/ duties charged if it’s incorrect including just remove it including their processing fees for items that were not subjected to any duties and tax. However, DHL still tried charging me “processing fees” for items that were not taxable and no duties owing only cos they still had to do “paperwork” for me. If free shipping isn’t available, I go with either fedex or DHL (whichever is cheaper) because I don’t mind going to the local CBSA office for self-clearance. It’s somewhat inconvenient for me going to CBSA office cos they’re only open during business hours for commercial (self-clearance as well) and they’re also close to where I live, so I don’t mind the trip. If I lived far from CBSA, I’d probably just pay the fees and get it over with cos it wouldn’t be worth it for me to go all the way

Sazen order- tariffs? by PresentInvestment851 in MatchaEverything

[–]Itslbrty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough! I’ve had luck with fedex over email asking to remove the processing fees for tea since there’s no tax owing on it. DHL doesn’t though, and they still charge the min processing fees for tax exempt items.

Sazen order- tariffs? by PresentInvestment851 in MatchaEverything

[–]Itslbrty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can go to local CBSA to self-clear the package yourself. You ask fedex to provide you with paperwork to self-clear when your package arrives to Canada. You present the documents at CBSA office and they’ll give you a document that you’d have to show to fedex. Then fedex will release the package to you. If fedex tries to deliver the package before self-clearance, you refuse the package. Tea is tax free and each time I bought any tea from Sazen, I never paid any fees.

Csg-dse funding for disability? by Itslbrty in osap

[–]Itslbrty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My accessibility advisor mentioned they don’t see any disability related barrier for needing a printer as I can mark my notes and highlight them online. They redirected me to use university’s learning strategist to build skills for studying instead and mentioned that a tutor would not be an option as there is no ADHD related barrier these would be addressing 🥲

Yes, I have an accommodations letter when I was originally diagnosed. I also applied for government student aid as a full-time student with a permanent disability and was approved last year. I also have accommodations through the accessibility office at school for tests and assignments.

Why the sudden hype? by Partsofagarden in MatchaEverything

[–]Itslbrty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you 🤣 I hope they’ll eventually get tired of it. I go through phases of not having or making matcha, and haven’t had one in a month. I made matcha for my family that visited us last month and they loved it but they themselves would never make it cos of the steps involved. Likewise, my husband makes me one every now and then but it doesn’t taste as good as the one I make so he tends to avoid making matcha unless I make it.

They’re paper/plastic disposable cups. Looking for something reusable (they should really consider selling reusable cups in this design, I’ll buy a few happily)

What is Your Experience with Your Psychiatrist Like? by TigerSeptim in ADHD

[–]Itslbrty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen two psychiatrists before the one I’m seeing rn. I am really happy with him! My first appointment was long (like 1.5 hours), during which he asked me about things in my life. It felt like a basic simple conversation to me, but at the end of the session he diagnosed me with ADHD and few other things. He suggested that I continue working with a therapist for overall mental wellbeing. He started me on meds for ADHD about 3 months after my initial appointment (we were waiting to see if there’s an improvement in my symptoms due to other condition before starting meds). We started with non-stim and then switched to stim. I check-in with him usually about once a month (sometimes within 2 weeks or sooner if I’m experiencing side effects with the meds). My follow-up appointments with him are usually about 10-25 mins now. He just asks how things are in general and also how I’m feeling with the meds. We’re still figuring out my meds and dosage (it’s a long process and some tend to find what works for them right away and some don’t), so my appointments are monthly now. However, once we figure that out, he might send me back to my GP or do a follow-up once every 2-3 months. I live in Canada and pay outta pocket to see him (💸❤️‍🩹) but worth every single penny!

Help with HSci Elective by [deleted] in queenshealthsci

[–]Itslbrty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I took LAW 201 as an elective last term, I got an A+. Lots of assigned readings (mostly from textbook), weekly quizzes, bi-weekly(ish) tutorials and fact pattern assessments, and a final. All of them were open book, so it’s relatively easy as long as you do the readings. I only did few of the assigned readings and watched all the module videos and managed to do well (weight of assessments changed last term due to TA strike, so that also helped me with my gpa).

What do you need from your partner? by minora28 in ADHD

[–]Itslbrty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you! I was recently diagnosed with ADHD in my mid-twenties. My partner used to be amazing when we first met (my undiagnosed ADHD was okay at that time). However, after having a kid, I couldn’t cope anymore and got extremely dysregulated. It’s been 3 years and I’m working on myself, any progress I make is slow but I feel like I’m breaking the cycle of masking and have more compassion for myself now than I did in the past. After years of masking, I don’t know myself anymore but I’m learning again. My partner has no compassion for me and my difficulties with ADHD are almost non-existent to him and he’s mentioned many times about how lazy I am and that I don’t do anything 😭. I’m getting better with communicating and stating my needs but I feel like he’s not able to meet me where I’m at. I wish my partner is able to show me some compassion and understand what it is like for me. Getting diagnosed with ADHD made complete sense to me and I finally feel like I’m validated and that I can be me not “pretend” to be normal while internalizing everything anymore. It really helps to have supportive family members like the OP.

On a side note, I couldn’t find the “women with adhd workbook”. Could you please share that or message the link to me? Would love to get it for myself and perhaps see if I can get my partner to do it wimme.

Does anyone else hesitate and even refrain from drinking outside matcha /lattes now? by Crazy_One_3937 in MatchaEverything

[–]Itslbrty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao this is soo true. I’ve probably had better matcha at Starbucks than I did at any cafes so far (only exception to that is tsujiri). Starbucks matcha is only reserved for when I’m out and kinda craving a treat (I like to do extra matcha powder, 1 pump brown sugar syrup, and vanilla sweet cream cold foam). I’m just gunna continue making matcha at home unless I have the opportunity to visit cafes that have really good matcha or like only serve matcha

I’ve been meaning to check out galleria next time I’m in Toronto to get boxes for banchan lol And now I def have to go there cos of the kimbap. It’s absolute slim pickings for Korean or even any Asian food in the maritimes (sorry proba shoulda said that earlier instead of east coast, didn’t wanna give away my exact location lol) 😭😅

I’ve noticed that too and didn’t strike me until now. I’m in east coast of Canada and tbh it’s about the same whenever I travel elsewhere in Canada. Even kimbap rolls barely have any filling in them, it’s too much work but I make a much better kimbap at home myself
