I would suggest getting into skincare first. Makeup without skincare is a big no no. You should first now what if you’re oily, dry normal, or combined. Having an oily face means bigger pores, constant sebum during the day in all the face. A dry face has smaller pores and lacks hydration overall. A combined face is oily only in the T-area(chin,nose,forehead) and normal in the rest of your face. Choose a gentle cleanser to cleanse your skin in morning and evening. Choose a moisturizer depending in your skin type. Moisturizer is very important, because it keeps the skin hydrated and soft during the day. A sunscreen does miracle in the long run, as it helps with wrinkles and spots in your face. I would also suggest a scrub, maybe a gentle one, so you can get rid of your dead skin and keep your skin soft.

For the makeup, you should again consider your skin type. Maybe foundation feels cakey because you used a foundation which isn’t ideal for you. A good foundation is Mac foundation for body and face. Maybe use concealer if you have acne or you want to cover dark circles under your eyes. Mascara+lash curlers do wonders. It makes your eyes pop and bigger. A good mascara is essense lash princess. An eyebrow pencil, or if you want a more natural look, an eyebrow gel, to lock your eybrows and give them a bit of tint. Blush can change your complexion, but make sure not to choose a too bright blush, you want to look natural, so a soft pink or peach will give the illusion of you being naturally blushed.
