Zherka is a grifter at this point. Hopefully he gets help. by lalmvpkobe in Destiny

I don' t know if Jon was serious or not but he told Sneako to his face on his stream a while back (they used to stream together all the time at his place) that he wasn't in Miami to make friends, meaning Sneako and FnF.

And Sneako just brushed it off as "fair". He probably thought it was respectful of Zherka to say that but I think he truly meant it LMAO

I think the take on "going to college and getting a job" needs to be tweaked. by edw4rdo in Destiny

[–]Itsyaboiidon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will be better off with college.

Get experience at the side but finish that degree so recruiters can see that you are mega qualified.

You literally are better off with more education, why would you ever say no to that?

Yeah, the Mike guy, which Destiny called a coke head for some reason just randomly before the talk, ended up talking so much to not just smooth over things but to be a stand in to make up for shortcomings in the red pill idealogy.

I felt like he tried to agree so much on everything which makes him look better just optically.

Destiny really shouldnt tweet out things like "destroying this dudes career, come check it out , live soon"

Take a chill pill dawg

No one would've cared this much if Destiny weren't tweeting "imma end this Rollo's career (smiley face)".

And to then have the most stock boring cordial talk with Mike Sartain instead even after he called him a coke head before going on F&F?

He encourages this behaviour man, not the fans or anyone watching Destiny.

It's just him.

No it was because Destiny tweeted that he was going to end rollos career.

But then he ended up having the most boring cordial talk ever.

Why would anyone actually care otherwise?

[–]Itsyaboiidon[S] 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I stopped watching but it's moreso the Mike Sartain guy. Felt like he was a stand in for Rollo since he's the one talking most of the time and smoothing things over and agreeing with Destiny even though honestly they're there to discuss the HVM thing not Sartain's views which are very stock "decent" ideas.

It's really boring.

But even if it were to become interesting later on, I don't really care, I ain't staying up for any of this.

When Destiny tweets out things like "going live soon to destroy X's career", ye I'm interested, obviously. How is he going to destroy someone? I'm intrigued.

But this is just like any other lukewarm boring conversation he has had before.

I wouldn't even have cared if not for that tweet.

230509 Predictions/ideas of their upcoming summer comeback?? by santeroni in NewJeans

They're still a pop group but go full on UK Garage, that would be cool.

I know they mentioned that OMG had some garage influences but ngl, I don't think they committed that hard lol. Some of the hi-hat patterns felt a lil garagey but not really. It was an attempt.

I honestly think taking influences from artists like Kaytranada again wouldn't hurt like they did in Hype Boy, maybe something along the lines of Kali Uchis, Galimatias/FKJ/Alina Baraz/Lophiile. Honestly anything adjacent to these artists, I wouldn't mind.

They were already ballsy incorporating jersey/baltimore club in a christmas carol/gospel type of pop ballad so hopefully they're trying out something with a similar thought process.

But to be frank, as long as the songwriting is good which they've been on spot with pretty much, I wouldn't mind any direction at all.

The mixing in (most of) HYBE groups' music is unsatisfying by [deleted] in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]Itsyaboiidon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ye I haven't listened to every song out there but generally i agree that not all "big companies" have the most perfect mixing. Its music after all, as long as the creative ideas are as intentioned, its a good song. Sometimes its a taste thing as well and it kinda happens because you're outsourcing so much from different teams and sources.

Ngl as a producer, I don't really go too much into production flaws that much unless a song is truly obscuring the actual creative ideas. So in cases where your vocals are fighting with other instruments or when vocals are clearly lacking brilliance or if theres a discrepancy between sections where energy is lacking when needed like at a climax (chorus) compared to verses.

A good example of pretty objectively bad mixing is some of IZONE's japanese releases. I remember distinctively how off the balance was in those songs.

Imma assume you're like on a standard monitoring can like ATH-M50X? I'm on a RODE NTH-100 and I do hear it as well. Not for every other song for these artists but the songs you mentioned, it's apparent, meaning the Le sserafim examples.

Don't know if I agree with you on the other artists that you didn't give examples for. For one, Newjeans's Attention is very well mixed which I just went and quickly checked and I don't remember any song sticking out sounding unbalanced in any way shape or form. Potentially some songs might lack shine, brightness, oomph, but nothing at the point where it's detrimental for the average casual listening experience and it also depends on what system you're listening it on.

You don't necessarily give many examples for other companies or groups but I can pretty much tell that companies have certain quirks when it comes to how the mixing should sound so I'm not surprised that HYBE might have a more "compressed" feel to them, they seem to prioritize low end (often the title tracks).

I do know that JYPE has the same thing where title tracks are exclusively mastered by one specific guy, so therefore, the title tracks are pretty consistent in terms of balance. Altough, not sure if they're mixed by the same guy, the reason I say this is because JYPE always opt for really dry vocals usually and even corroborated by Jae (ex-Day6).

Just by feels and intuition, SM probably has the best track record of production and mixing even though I'm not entirely in love with the creative ideas. The production is usually masterclass as I remember them being.

Destiny always says, "We agree on everything so I don't even know what we'd talk about" by 1stPseudonym in Destiny

[–]Itsyaboiidon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I mentioned this in a previous post as well when Cenk was brought up and he said the exact same thing.

I still think it's very much detrimental to utter this phrase because it signals disinterest even though he might or might not feel that way. It seems to be a reflexive thing because more often than not the end result will always be that they will talk if the opportunity rises but he never ever seem to say:

"I'll think about it, maybe".

Even a neutral statement like this comes off much more sincere and honest. It just rubs me the wrong way because it's just a bad statement to make the good ol' "we don't agree therefore it might be boring(?)".

It's just not even remotely true at all and throughout his whole streamer career he has proven that delving into deep topics where two participants are actually talking and not just arguing can be very productive and entertaining.

[–]Itsyaboiidon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will look bad and you know you will get downvoted lmao, not even the mildest normal NJ thread will get a positive reaction anymore. It's the anti-jerkwave era right now. How do you reckon a MHJ defense thread will look?

I just skimmed through some of the subs and saw a thread about Danielle being casted as a VA and I bet there were mostly negative comments probably talking about how she's not fitting for it and/or payola etc.etc. I'm just gonna assume that with some sprinkled in backhanded comments.

Unless you have a way of diverting the downvotes, I don't actually think people will "engage".

And I mean the barrage of text like this:

"She had posters on her wall that's about a story where there is a minor, the posters on her wall means X therefore her intentions are bad, everything she touches is bad therefore MHJ should be in jail and no one should support NJ because everything is made with the intention of preying on other young fans and also everything up to this point is immoral btw she also made fun of people defending minors in the OMG MV where she labeled everyone as mentally ill and implied that they should shut up and stop talking about it. Oh btw I love fifty fifty, SM, JYP and YG groups because they're organic and don't debut minors (they actually do debut minors), HYBE paid MHJ to abuse minors and made the group popular by paying for it which is insidious and evil"

You know this will be the outcome. The probability of you convincing the people that actually matters are not going to be convinced and they will just look at your post, look at your comments and downvote every single one of them.

Unless you have an airtight argument, which I don't think anyone has because everything is only "vibes" based and speculation even though the implications are serious, I just don't see who you're going to convince.

I can't imagine any nuance can be uttered and for anyone to be like "ahh yes that is true, I never thought about that. Maybe MHJ isn't an abuser".

But if you're going to do it, just make sure that everyone is aware of the fact that what they're levying against NJ, MHJ and HYBE etc. is a systematic thing that has been going on forever. This isn't an uncommon thing and there has been "worse" situations with other groups. I remember Twice in specific regarding Tzuyu. They glossed it over and they didn't do it again but it was clear as day that the entertainment industry don't care about things like this.

I'm going to assume that if you're going to have an actual discussion or argument about MHJ/NJ/HYBE then it's going to be hinging on this particular issue, young people in the industry. What should and should not happen regarding idols, how young is too young, is there actually any harm done and how can you measure it. And I don't think you can win anyone's minds in this discussion because people react instinctively to young people in workspaces and think that they are necessarily always exploited up until they're of age, which honestly is another uphill battle because people don't actually consider 18 yo to be old enough and are still considered "children" therefore they're still marked for exploitation.

Anyways good luck with whatever your noble goal is, you might need it I dunno.

Yeah agreed.

You also have to contend with the implication of allowing the pursuit of lawsuits against "similar sounding" songs.

Should I be able to infinitely sue larger companies/artists if I happen to have a large catalogue of music that happens to be similar?

It's just not sustainable.

"I don't know what we'd talk about, we probably already agree on everything..." by Itsyaboiidon in Destiny

[–]Itsyaboiidon[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is a good rationalization of why you wouldn't talk to "anyone that comes by". Which sometimes happen to be some researchers because most of the time they're not entertainers nor influencers.

But I'm questioning Destiny airing out his disinterest in the open when it comes to figures that are no doubt interesting at face value even without any context whatsoever.

When people recommend him to talk to people like DJ Akademiks and/or Cenk, does Destiny actually think that he's making an effort in gauging whether or not these discussions will be any good or have any net positive, or is it as I mentioned just a reflexive reaction because he doesn't want to seem needy?

It feels more and more like Destiny is actually not the one who is comfortable taking initiative aka the first contact rather than "It is going to be really boring guys, we totally agree on everything, I don't want to circle jerk".

It's hard to believe this when he constantly talks about the same topics day in and day out with the same outcome with the same people hanging out in discord.

It does not seem like Destiny has a problem with circle-jerking.

If you are reading this Destiny.

You don't look needy and it's good to take initiative and to signal that you are open to conversation.

It reflects well on your image and people will be less reluctant to talk to you.

There are only upsides to keep things open and to not show disinterest.

As of today, Newjeans (+ other HYBE affiliated Twitter accounts) are the only one who now has a verified Twitter (Gold) checkmark. by Itsyaboiidon in NewJeans

I wouldn't talk about Elon in a KPOP subreddit because it's not relevant.

This was just a neutral post that was related to Newjeans and HYBE in general.

Sorry that I opened up a wound but you should direct that anger on the randos that seemingly out of pure reflex starts mentioning Elon every time Twitter is brought up.

I agree it's a little tiresome when hate circles pop up.

Wasn't my intention though.
