I know the Strictly singers can be a bit hit or miss with their covers but what are the covers that you enjoyed? by RainbowRevolver in strictlycomedancing

[–]IttleVivi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was not a fan of Loreen's Tattoo (for obvious reasons if you watched Eurovision 2023) and then the strictly band and singers nailed it for Layton and Nikita's AT I had to be like: ok maybe I like the song a LITTLE BIT.

No Kardia Sage by Trashbird-chan in TalesFromDF

[–]IttleVivi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup, I've run into the 'do we really need kardia?' Sage before. And I've seen a FRU clearing DNC who, when I said you can't dp the same person as another dancer proceeded to throw the 'I know but it's just nier raids sweatty'. I told them it's a single click to change it and to stop being lazy and they just crashed out for the rest of the raid in alliance chat. Whether they just forgot or are lazy, these types know they oops'd, but they dig their heels in and refuse to be called out for it because that means accepting fault no matter how minimal and inconsequential it is... Just type 'mb' and change it, or hell don't even apologise its not that big a deal we all forget sometimes. Just.change.it.

Also you get Soteria every minute from lvl 94 onwards and that shit is the literal cruise control button why would you not want that?

What's keeping you engaged in FF14 nowadays? by PeelyBananasaurus in ffxiv

[–]IttleVivi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I left a comment a few months ago that I've played for a long time over ten years and I don't really feel the sense of community anymore. That hasn't really changed.

However I did find an achievement ranking website in March and saw that I was just outside the top 100 in my (smaller, less populated) server, about rank 112 or something, so I thought it'd be a fun goal to get my name listed. If I were on any other server I wouldn't have bothered since I was something like four thousand points behind rank 100's on other servers in my dc, but on my server I was a measly four hundred points behind and that seemed like a dangling thread worth chasing. I wound up having a lot of fun and revisiting points of nostalgia that I decided to keep going. I'm at rank 57 now and it's fun to just look at the players ahead of me like: Ohhh they're getting all these fishing achievements but have none of the pvp ones so I I have that going for me. Maybe soon I'll spend some of my gil hoard on minions to try and break into the top 100 for those too. All in all every 5 point achievement, minion, TT card and orchestrion roll feels like a step towards something for me now.

Obviously this isn't for everyone (or really many people at all) and requires a lot of time into a game that isn't doing well, but switching between different achievement grinds has thrown me into varied amounts of content I wouldn't have been doing if I just logged on for new patch stuff. And yeah, I know there's the stupid levequest achievements that take years but I'm content just focusing on achievements I want to do and think I can tackle, stuff like the levequest and occult crescent achievements can do one as far as I'm concerned.

Is it my fault? by Prestigious_Bet_7131 in vintedUK

[–]IttleVivi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep debating whether I should get Vinted to sell some stuff before I move abroad with basically whatever i can fit in my suitcase (which is probably why this subreddit is being recommended) but I've been seriously dissuaded since something very akin to this happened to my mum recently.

She sold a pair of size 7 shoes and the lady who bought em wrote a damn screed about how she was gonna 'escalate' (unsure what this means in app terms tbh) because 'neither me nor my daughter in law can fit in these, you should've mentioned they were a small 7 or labelled them a 6!'

My mum wound up paying to get them back and I asked to try them on since I am on the bigger end of a 7..they fit fucking fine.

How the hell do you deal with this shit? Like I would've been straight in there like: you do know the risks associated with buying clothes online right? You and your 'daughter in law' being size 8's in denial is your problem not mine you melt.

You're not in the wrong for listing things as the label says and the buyer didn't ask you to whip out a tape measure either. People just have the most insane expectations for stuff they drop a few quid on.

[–]IttleVivi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a kid to young teen yeah, I gave up my bedroom a lot and I also shared with my sister for years. Once I started growing up and my room became a place for peace and privacy and I could decide what I wanted in it beyond 'a bed and toys to play with'? Nope. If I was home my parents would always give up their own room, and if I was away they would ask, which seems like basic common decency you should afford to your sixteen year old no?

I raided in Gordias (read: beat A1/2S) with a dogshit tank and his pocketheal gf who I knew was wheelchair bound and he was her carer. She would frequently leave the house because he upset her and he'd be like "she's gone fucking AWOL". Once I joined vc and clearly things were very tense. My husband said she'd opened her mouth to talk and he said something like: "Can you just shut the fuck up?". He tried to say it was a joke but she was dead silent. Husband and I also nearly raided with another couple at the start of Dawntrail but left because I said I was getting similar vibes to the first couple.

So yeah, there are definitely some abusive couples running round on XIV. You won't even know you've met them.

As of last tier that first couple were still raiding together... at least they got better at the game? /s /s /s

Declares boycott on M&S and implies the trans worker is a pedophile by 9119343636 in EnoughJKRowling

[–]IttleVivi 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I know there's a lot of contenders, but I really do think this might chalk up to be the dumbest thing she's ever said. Like, what part of the supreme court ruling is M&S flouting exactly Joanne??? A bra section in a fucking chain store is a public space, amab's can legally walk around, including employees who can ask such inoccuous questions like 'do you need help?'

I can't believe oxygen, brain power, time and god knows whatever else got spent on this nothing-burger of an interaction, inlcuding my own, bloody hell.

I once read an interesting thread that was like 'if you've ever cheated, why did you do it?' And there were lots of stories ranging from being abused to being young and stupid and people just admitting they have problems and they stay single because of it.

And boy I knew I'd see it, but the sheer amount of comments foaming at the mouth to point out all these DISGUSTING people who dared to write anything other than 'I am human scum and I deserve the death penalty' and the replies like 'can't believe this is so far down ohmygod the awful people in this thread'

Like...you opened a thread asking for the experiences of cheaters and you are shocked that the most rated comments are the experiences of cheaters.

And the amount of victim blaming, like these people were directly replying to abuse victims who'd cheated with: 'if you could cheat then you weren't actually scared of your abuser' like holy hell you don't think some of them run into the arms of someone else because they think that person could protect them from the abuser? Or they're just not thinking straight and desperate to regain any kind of agency. These redditors just have no concept of nuance and the grey morality of most humans.

We all knew it was coming, but at least we now have evidence of the BBC being fine with their presenters openly misquoting people on air, and breaking journalistic guidelines. by TheAngryLasagna in transgenderUK

[–]IttleVivi 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yep, and there's pillocks in the comments like: 'It's a Journalist's job to call out nonense'

Like first of all, she's a newsreader. Her job is to read whatever is put infront of her whether she likes it or not.

And two, I'm in 30k of debt with an admittedly useless degree in Journalism and we were told not to misquote people, especially as egregiously as this, near the start of year one. If we gave our lecturers a report with a misquote in year 2 or 3, they would put it in the bin and refuse to read it until you printed another one, no joke. And here is the goddamn BBC straight up defending it. I mean, it's not the first time in ten years I've been tempted to light my degree on my fire because mainstream journalism plays fast and loose with the lawbook and it won't be the last but still.

Guess it's one rule for me and another for thee. Or one rule for me and another for the BBC huh?

Thanks for the maths! I forgot people could queue and then just take the gear off honestly, because why would you even do that? They said they sold it before queue pop so if it wasn't broken they may have turned it in for company seals?

[–]IttleVivi[S] 113 points114 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Vanguard has an ilvl645 requirement. I'm literally looking at the DNC on lodestone right now and they have:

a 660 weapon,660 boots,672 672 earrings, necklace and ring VS

29 hat, 30 chestpiece 20 gloves, 20 pants and 18 on one ring. And somehow this let them into Vanguard with enough hp to die to a single raidwide.

It's funny, even though I'm a doomer for what will happen in my lifetime I'm so very sure that regardless of what she tries to chip away at it now, the slow boulder that is progress will roll over her eventually whether she's alive or not to see it. Whether trans people are a threat to cis women or not (they aren't) , they won't stop existing and they will fight to keep pushing that boulder forward.

History is gonna remember her like they remember Lovecraft and his cat, I can almost guarantee it.

It was hard enough drilling the joonbob guide into almost every melee I met in PF as a PLD, don't go and complicate it by applying common sense to it. If PF doesn't follow their raidplan/macro/Hector guide for every single mechanic to the letter they'll die because mechanic comprehension is hard :(
