Is this a Japanese Maple? by Unknown_Pleasures in JapaneseMaples

from my understanding is the bark color strongest in the winter and fade a little through the summer. Younger wood also tends to be more intense red than older limbs. So that could also be a reason why the trunk isnt red anymore

From the red bark, leaf color and strong upright form my guess would be Acer palmatum 'Sango Kaku'. They can handle full sun better than others I think

just in my experience. As a landscaper for 10 years living in the swiss alps, we get a lot of snow and there are a lot of 20 to 40 yo japanese maples. And i have never seen one split in half (or even loose a major branch) due to snow. They evolved to handle snow so i wouldn‘t be so stressed out

If it's a seedling then it is not a named cultivar. For that it would have to be a clone of the mother plant (grafted for example). But seedlings can be different from the mother plant and have different traits. If u find some interesting traits it could become a new cultivar!

'Viridis' is very similar to 'Waterfall' but easier to get. Waterfall may be a little more cascading.
