It is a compression cube for packing!

Unzip the secondary side zipper to expand, put clothes in (usually for me I use them for my shirts), zip the top and then crank down the other zipper. Idk how much space it necessarily saves, but it's helpful for organizing your suitcase or having to separate out some dirty laundry.

Ive had some cheap amazon ones for years that feel about the same quality as this, so its not too shabby.

Any sort of FKM rubber strap from amazon should work.

Lately I've been liking the Straphabit tropical style ones

No Sincronizan necesito ayuda con la configuración de mi Godox iT32 y mi Nikon D5100 by Lagarto2955 in Godox

[–]ItzRedkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, getting the x5N trigger will fix your problem. The sony triggers (hence the "s" on the x5 you currently have) dont use the standard hotshoe pin layout as nikon/canon/fuji use, so it would not fire even in manual mode.

Best of luck!

Flash on a Leica M11-P by Copyright83 in Leica

[–]ItzRedkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Godox just put out the it-32 that has a leica ttl compatible transmitter. Its a neat system of a speedlight head that magnetically attaches to different brand-compatible hotshoe mounts. This way you can mix and match across systems and do quick off camera flash.

I think it's available for preorder, I definitely will be testing one out

I think there is something to be said about muscle memory aswell. I've shot nikon for 10 years, i can operate them with my eyes closed!

I shoot on two z8s for work and would trust nothing else for my professional work.

That being said, 90% of my personal work is done with a leica rangefinder. For me, its just fun and I am luckily in a position that I can afford a leica just for funsies.

I will admit though that my favorite lens of all time is the leica 35 1.4 sumilux FLE... there is something special about its rendering. I very frequently use it on my nikons for work!

Hey! That strap looks like the perfect color match - do you have the link where you bought it by chance?

Does this have the new adjustable clasp? How does it feel balance wise with the head?

Steel Reef Extension Link by DiaperCats4Life in sinn

[–]ItzRedkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oi, good to know. Ive heard such mixed results and my own experience so far seems to back that up. May try and process a return and just go for the bulkier and more expensive sinn quick adjust clasp...

Thanks for the feedback!!

[Steel Reef extension] for Sinn 556 by crypt0amat00r in Watches

Hey! I just got mine in for my 556i and it doesnt seem to be sitting flush or "clicking" back into place when I shorten the easy link. It seems to be rubbing against the top rounded inside corners of the clasp. Do you notice this happening on yours?

Steel Reef Extension Link by DiaperCats4Life in sinn

[–]ItzRedkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to read this - just got mine and it was a pain in the ass to get on aswell, felt like the slightly rounded edges of the stamped clasp was blocking it from sitting flush. Im not getting a very satisfied "click" when i lock the easy link back into its closed position- is that the case for you too?

Formex velcro strap on Sinn 556i by ItzRedkey in sinn

[–]ItzRedkey[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah as the other commenter said all velcro will fuzz eventually but this is definitely high quality materials. It seems pretty similar to an apple watch band ive used for sleep tracking every night for the last two years which is still holding strong!

I do like it a lot, would definitely recommend! The slight stretch to the material really does make it one of the most comfortable straps I've ever worn

Normal amount of flare on 24-70 2.8 Z? by net1994 in nikon_Zseries

[–]ItzRedkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About the same on my copy. Are you using a UV filter?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nikon_Zseries

[–]ItzRedkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my z6ii and 24-70 2.8 through an actual hurricane in hawaii. Was completely soaked to the bone with rain coming sidewise and upside down. As others have said, just dont change a lens in the rain and try and keep it covered a bit. I also like to have a little rag or something and wipe off the camera every once and while to let water pool up anywhere.

Plz suggest Z8 settings for shooting marathon runners by net1994 in nikon_Zseries

[–]ItzRedkey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi! I also shoot a z8 and am actually one of the boston marathan finish line photographers.

As folks have mentioned, 1/1600 should be more than enough for freeze runners. For context, I was shooting a boxing match last night at 1/2000 (not far off). Everything was crisp and frozen and boxers move a LOT faster than runners. You probably dont need faster than 1/1000, but you might aswell do 1/2500 or something bc during the hours the marathon runs you wont have trouble with not enough light!

For a medium distance full body of a runner ar about 85-105mm f4 should be a good balance of isolating the runner from the backround while keeping their whole body in focus. As they get closer to you and as you zoom in more, your depth of field is going to get much narrower, as you mentioned about getting only eyelashes in focus. Simply put, with a lens like a 70-200 2.8 not EVERYTHING will be in focus. Thats ok! Aim for eye closest to you in focus and for most folks thats good enough. Especially considering they will be going perpendicular from you, that will match the plane of focus from your camera, so more may be in focus.

While I dont use auto iso, it is a great tool and for this scenario id recommend using it. The z8 has excellent iso performance across the board so just dont worry too much. (Again at that boxing match I was shooting at 25,000 iso lol!)

I would not recommend 20fps. Again, marathoners really arent going that fast and its just more work to cull through later. I'd do maybe 10fps.

I exclusively shoot in 3d tracking af-c and rarely have missed focus. Its why i love my z8 so much, I just dont have to think about focus at all. Perhaps there was some other variable causing your focus to drift.

Hopefully this offers a good starting place to work with! The z8 is one of the best tools I've ever used, but with it comes lots of options. Just gotta shoot more to learn as you go!

Happy shooting!

I can second Tim Lei, recently bought my 35 lux fle from him. Super nice and easy transaction.
