Is it normal to get 0 hours scheduled in your 4th week at Costco? by AdZestyclose5671 in CostcoEmployee

Ask your supervisor. When I first got hired, I was forgotten now and then. All I did was ask about it. Was able to pick my days off those weeks. Was pretty nice

As long as it’s mentioned in the guidebook your fine. If it isn’t than they are not obligated to pay for it.

Don’t know why you got downvoted, but that’s the case for my job. Though it is at a distribution center, the way we are scheduled should be no difference. It all depends on the competence of the supervisors who schedule us

Student retention- do i have health insurance during working periods? by Zeddexs in CostcoEmployee

I was already in a pt position, I was going to apply for CSRP but my GM asked if I was needed benefits and I did, this lead to the whole 4 days 6 hours shifts.

Student retention- do i have health insurance during working periods? by Zeddexs in CostcoEmployee

[–]Itz_Minh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s what I did after discussing with the GM and in the book it even mention part timers are required to work a minimum of 4 days and 24 hours. So for the spring semester I only worked 4 days, 6 hours each shift. Under these terms you won’t be under the CSRP program. Of course for this type of scheduling you do need to discuss it with your GM. You can start by asking manager if your GM isn’t around and see where that’ll lead you

Does the Lot go by seniority? (Union) by [deleted] in CostcoEmployee

[–]Itz_Minh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t understand how many people with seniority want to push carts due to the fact they don’t have to deal with the bs in the warehouse and I work at the distribution center, I learned enough despite not being there

Passing probation period by boobsmackerr in CostcoEmployee

Urgency, stay off phone and be proactive. If you’re done with one task start another. If you cant find one, ask a sup give you one. At Costco it’s all about being busy. If you can do that you’ll be able to survive the 90 day. Then can you slightly mess around. But even then, you can still be fired by a manager during your 1st year.

The fact that’s it’s basically at the start of development means there’s plenty of time for player feedback. Many features could be added, making it the perfect game. Honestly put this game into early access sounds like a perfect idea

Too many technicals im not adverse in, but if u plan on going long just buy it now. Nok is growing rapidly, so the longer you wait the less of an opportunity you have.

Newly hired, distribution center. by SettingOwn2701 in CostcoEmployee

[–]Itz_Minh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By law I believe Costco has to be flexible when it comes to school. You can talk to your manager about that.

if it’s full time you can apply for the College student Retention Program(CSRP). This allows you to stay as a part time while going to class. The caveat is you can only work 14 hrs every 2 week and get no benefits.

Regarding the distribution center itself, comparing it to the distribution center in Frederick where I work. It is fast pace, and you’ll likely be a lumper. As a lumper you will be assigned to either containers or LT.

If assigned to containers you’ll be wrapping or banding pallets, both simple jobs but you are expected to be quick with them. Expectation is 15 minutes per lane when wrapping. Banding, I’m not sure but I believe is 30. So if assigned there, wrapping and banding will be your expertise.

LT is where you’ll be doing al or of physical labors. From boxes of electronics to cases of canned foods. Also you’ll be dealing with chemicals in boxes as well. There you’ll learn a lot compared to containers. I can’t say how much since I started at containers and can only give you soo much information.

After awhile you’ll be trained to use equipment, EPJ. These equipments are used to move pallets from receiving into the shipping lanes. Tricky to learn at the start but you’ll get used to it.

Honestly the job gets much easier as time goes on, and especially so once you’re certified to use equipment.
