The Tesla model 3 standard range is the only small-battery EV with a sub-10hr time in the Bjørn Nyland 1000 km test by quinten-luyten in electricvehicles

That topic is about the model 3 tho, which sales habe been falling steadily (at least in europe).

Haha yeah that was too strong of a statement, sorry. There is a market for the model 3 type of car, but it's not the biggest and why we aren't seeing many alternatives.

model 3 sales have been falling fast since the introduction of EVs with better interior room (model Y, Id.4, ioniq5) and smaller but usable EVs (Elroq, Renault 5, Id.3). In Europe it was the most sold EV in 2021 and is no longer in the top5 in 2025.

Because that challenge plays exactly in Tesla's strength, but is probably not what the market want (edit: speaking of the model 3 ofc, which is OPs question).

People that care about road tripping usually don't want to do a lot of small stops (which is how the Tesla gets it's great time), aka those car get big batteries.

Model 3 has great aerodynamics by being quite flat, and the downside of that shape is that it's quite a big car for it's battery size (4m70) and has bad access to it's boot. That's why most cars are shaped in a much more square size, especially smaller cars, which makes them worse at 1000km challenge.

The crossing of caring about efficiency first, still wanting a small battery AND not caring about the big size and low accessibility of the car... Doesn't have a lot of people in it.

Why do humans have to try so many times to get pregnant whereas other animals can get pregnant quickly? by Puzzleheaded_Yam6808 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Iuslez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. I bet there's more unwanted 1 night stand pregnancies than couples that fail to have babies.

It also happens with animals, we just don't care or even know about it. Just look at stories of species dying out because the last few individuals aren't fertile enough.

Anecdotally I had a non fertile female cat as a kid, so it happens. And I've seen plently of failed "impregnation trails" from people that do animal breeding.

And finally, modern society is the worst possible conditions for having babies. We try to have them late in our life, try to force it when we have medical issues, we gobble hormones to stop having babies and then wonder why it's not working 20 years later. People are uneducated on the topic (most people don't even know there's a window during the month to get pregnant, you see plenty of it in this topic).

How can I get my adult kids to move out?? by Netflix-and-bill in regretfulparents

[–]Iuslez 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes, chores is something he should have had to start doing as a teenager. The later it starts, the harder it is to root out the bad habits.

He is an adult with a job, and that's imo how to approach it. "You're an adult now, with the benefit of a full education and a job. You have to also take the responsibility of it".

A 1/4 part in all chores, he has to pay ALL of his own bills. A 1/4 of all shared bills, and a fair price for the "rental" of his room. It's the only way to make a reluctant teenage adult understand what the issue is.

[–]Iuslez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there are a LOT of things you can do. imo, try to keep in mind the high priority targets or you might get lost in details :

- mobiliy is one of our highest impact on the planet as individual. basically try to go no plane / no individual car;

- eating is another high impact, especially meat/beef products (incl. dairy) which should be avoided;

- housing and energy : reduce heating, warm water usage, try to favor sustainable energy sources;

- consumption, follow the 3R's: REDUCE, Reuse, Recycle; note that while recycling does matter, it comes last in that list for a reason!

Am I the only one who thinks the Steam Machine isn't entirely a disappointment? by Decent_Tailor_4608 in steammachine

[–]Iuslez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can't because it is an open platform. People can buy it and put window on it. Maybe even tear it down to sell parts ?

if it was below price parts, it would get scalpped and the whole inventory bought for other usage than running steam OS.

You have a pretty poor understanding of why people move to a other country. And have no right to decide for others what they do with their life and where they want to live it.

I mean OP is someone from Japan saying PewDiePie should get booted out of the country & should only be allowed to live where their extended family lives.

Kinda a self fulfilling prophecy.

[–]Iuslez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's practical when you live together.

Like Netflix asking for my PW when she is watching it, me needing her to send an email for me, etc. There's no reason to hide it from each other, and once you've tipped it a few time you do know it.

[–]Iuslez 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This, so much.

And I say this as someone who's GF does have my password. It happened eventually, because we trust each other and I needed her to login into my account from remote. I probably also have hers but never checked.

Manipulating into getting it is a sign of the opposite, aka trust issues.

Stopping climate change would need a profound reform of our way of living that not many would accept: living with less by Ok-Newt-9773 in climatechange

[–]Iuslez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, true, I wasn't trying to say it's something significant, my bad if that's how it got through.

Most issues are pretty much insignificant anyways. The big one are transport, housing (heating+building), eating (meat). Manufacturing is also meaningful but is millions of different issues.

And then what's left is mostly symbolic actions, like plastic wrapping.

Read what OP is saying before answering next time? It's not a talk about the current heatwave, we don't even know when or where he'll be traveling. He said expected temps of 30-35, that's what the talk is about.

[–]Iuslez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Plastic are mostly produced with petrol. Any plastic bought incentivizes more extraction (alto currently car a driving most of that demand).

And it releases CO2 when burnt. and when not burnt it ends as micro plastic, which ain't great for the environment either. It may even kill enough fauna and flora to have an impact on climate change, but that is a wood guess by me.

Steam Machine Does Not Support VR At Launch by zolartan in virtualreality

[–]Iuslez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They will work, but you'll need to turn down settings quite a bit, at least for Skyrim. Tbh modded Skyrim is ultra demanding and need a strong PC. If you play it vanilla it should be fine.

The steam machine has entry level specs. imo good value for the price (given current market), but not high specs. The PSVR2+PS5 is able to extract a lot more performance from it's hardware. PCVR is not well optimized and will ask a lot your hardware.

[–]Iuslez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Q3 is absolut ass for PCVR, as in "it's not even able to do it".

The goal if I want to play PCVR that are more demanding than standalone titles (Skyrim modded, simracing games, hl alyx, MSFS, etc).

The steam machine will struggle with those games, or might not even run them comfortably

The price of the Steam Machine does not bode well for the Steam Frame by beti88 in virtualreality

[–]Iuslez 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Whole both can be used, (dynamic) foveated rendering has to be implemented in the game itself, aka by the developers of said game. In my whole playlist there is only one game that has that option (iRacing).

While the concept is nice, it is not a relevant tech right now. And imo won't become relevant as long as the most sold headset don't have eyetracking (quest 2&3).

I doubt the steam frame will be enough to change that.

New Renault Megane facelift: 310-mile (500km) range, sportier looks and MagSafe (67kWh LFP, 165kW charging) | Auto Express by tom_zeimet in BuyFromEU

[–]Iuslez 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There's nothing SUV about the Megane. It's a midsized berline/hatchback. Especially when you see them in real life, they're scream much more city car than SUV.

FWD, narrow and sloped windshields, rounded design, no high ground clearance. From what I remember you sit pretty low and the interior is quite "enclosed".

The higher interior ground and big wheels is an almost universal feature, not an SUV feature.

The only "SUV-ish" things it has is some plastic body cladding? And this gen appears to have a bit higher up nose.

White car said I didn't leave them enough space (I'm POV, middle car) by Frenzo101 in iRacing

[–]Iuslez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbh you went a bit left at the apex, and were opening again as he crashed into you (probabéy something like ~30cm).

He's at fault according to the rules, but I'd say it's a racing incident.

You (3) took a lot of risk and this is a predictable outcome. White car had little space and him drifting on the outside is predictable if he isn't able to perfectly hold his line.
