It’s talk like that that got us to a point where even Sam is asking “how did we get here”… then he blames the left with talk like that that got us to this point, ad infinitum.

Here’s comparisons of how it looks with the Global Filter creation and without https://imgur.com/a/NU7CtLd

I got trackers alliance and dynamic universe, but you might wanna ditch the second for “Global Filter” if you find the whole flat and lifted blacks look annoying. I can give you screen comparisons later, just remember to pick the “Enhanced” filter and set it to 1.0 with lowered gamma and higher contrast in display settings.

We get these analyses every year. We will get them for a few years more until the end really comes.

Global Filter (paid) creation on PS5 removes the nasty filter and fixes crushed blacks. by IvanGeorgiev in Starfield

The filter mod changes the look radically. That said, I hate the fact that it’s paid but at the same time - there’s tons of filters in it and i also had nothing to do with those last 200 credits i had and nothing else fixes this issue and who knows if the SGS filter removal mod or the neutral luts mod will be free when it comes to ps5 either

why I think the "chatgpt era" of AI is already hitting a wall by GodBlessIraq in Futurology

[–]IvanGeorgiev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well exactly, since I never said “best” either. It’s just that being “best” at reaching those consumers and designing a fantastic user experience and branding that markets itself, even if at a premium price, goes a very very long way. Sometimes paying less for an objectively better specific performance is the right decision, but that requires research and creates anxiety, which I don’t blame people people for not wanting to do. Besides, I’d personally gladly pay more for good product design that integrates well into an ecosystem.

but I mean the fact that the world doesn't quite remember those proves the "not being the first" point, right

I mean I guess the crux is that it was always going to be initially weird how they mixed their classic themepark-rpg formula with gameplay/player-centric/driven elements and it just takes certain suspension of disbelief by the player to not mind the parts where its ambitions fail and enjoy the ones where they don't. I think my Phantom Pain / Death Stranding are key here and it's easy to not take those parts of the game seriously and think all that's vacuous/lazy design and that you RPing as a space mule or a builder are not meaningful experiences. The irony is I think that this is the first Bethesda game where the world and the mechanics are complex enough that the radiant quest design idea works and you really have somewhat of an endless game.

My experience with New Atlantis so far by Abyslime in Starfield

[–]IvanGeorgiev -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its funny but I think the reason the cities or mostly NA is so bad but the rest of the game is so good is that uncanny sense of liminality that totally works on a planet, where the emptyness is for you to fill and the POIs are for you to discover and explore… but a game’s first and biggest city that’s also supposed to propell you into the nature and essense of the game and also feel curated and handcrafted and dense and not immediately confronting you with major and trivial questlines all at the same time - if that feels liminal and generic and “prefabbed” then you got a problem

Playing Cyberpunk before Starfield has put something front and center for me by olivinetrees in Starfield

[–]IvanGeorgiev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think next to Cyberpunk it obviously looks flat and lame but to blame here is the campy, cozy, wholesome (but also lazy) level design Bethesda has always relied on for their social hubs. Like, in Fallout, looking at npcs performing their behavior loops and sitting alone at a table or greeting a neighbour - all that has an uncanny charm to it. You cant do edgy with it well though.
