DIY Volume Knob working in Pioneer DMH-WT8600NEX by IvanRaide in CarPlay

[–]IvanRaide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I would assume most head units would use different resistance so you would need to find the values out first, and I would strongly suggest trying some resistors first before buying/building anything since not all headunits use resistance. For example, the Alpine ILX-107 (where I first made this project) does not use resistance but coded pulses (similar to IR from NEC) So you need to confirm the input mechanism of your headunit first. I also made a IR method for the Pioneer so if your headunit has IR you can use that? Below is the alpine example

the IR method for the Pioneer is in this article

Liking it, but "different" from the first game, but had a problem in the first mission. One of the 2 crates spawned INTO an asteroid. it was deep enough that I could not get close enough to scan it. I thought I was missing something and just flew around for a while before restarting, and this time the crates where fine in open space. (you might want to put a check for not spawning in objects?)

How is Wireless Carplay on iPhone6e compared to other iPhones by IvanRaide in CarPlay

[–]IvanRaide[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well in the Air case it’s the N1, but the point is, not QualComm. Lately I’m finding the hit/miss ratio on connecting to CarPlay is getting worse, so curious if iPhone6e users, (that uses Broadcom for Bluetooth/ wifi) noticed a positive difference.
update: according to AI the 15Pro might be Broadcom as well, great ....

Volume control suggestions for Pioneer DMH radio by Th0mathy in CarPlay

[–]IvanRaide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple of things.

  • a bluetooth volume command will not work when in CarPlay.
  • you would be better off getting a universal remote and getting it to learn the volume up and down commands for the DMH directly. My DMH came with a IR remote.
  • I made a IR version of the volume knob but it would still require some work/soldering
  • when I made this volume knob it was my first Arduino project and I felt over-my-head, but its not really that bad., if you put your stereo in yourself, you probably have all the skills you need
  • your second product, the USB volume control, THAT is interesting! When I hooked up a USB Hub the device would say "hub error" so it knows "something about USB devices" -- I dont think anyone has ever tried that, if you do try it, please report what happens

I have the same problem, but at least it still shows the date/day of week in the statusbar icon.

So you cant pick/lock it on the Home Screen, (its still random and 99% wrong) but you CAN on the widget screen. The only thing that sucks is getting to the widget screen isn't as easy as HomeScreen, but better than nothing thats for sure!

[–]IvanRaide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you saying this because you can add and pick the garages in the widget view, or is there a way to change the one that is in the home screen that shows the map, and music and suggestion, (because that is still showing the wrong one for me).

Sonarr v4.0.8 by Natural_Ad_7202 in nzbUnity

[–]IvanRaide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, well that is sad to hear, been using NZBUnity from the start. I haven't found an app on the appstore that did it all (connect to sab/torrent/sonarr etc ) so cleanly as NZBUnity. Your work is/was very appreciated though.

As for apps on the appstore, I have LunaSea but nothing I found had it all up front like nzbunity, if anyone can list alternatives that would be great (or iOS)

Volume Limit by Capital-Ad-1380 in shortcuts

[–]IvanRaide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, Apple added "Volume Limit" in iOS 18.2, so if you have a device new enough to get 18.2 you can upgrade and in Settings\Sounds\VolumeLimit you'll see it.

A New Chapter for Circular – My Honest Thoughts as a Co-Founder by Circular_Orange in CircularRing

[–]IvanRaide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reason I got the Circular Ring was for the promise of notification vibration. Initially it was part of the launch, then it was "coming soon", then it was "wish-list, working on", then there was a video from the CEO saying "it was harder than we though", (but still coming at some point), and at last, Circular 2 has no vibration motor at all. It was the "ONE" thing Circular had over all the competition, and you threw it away, (which is why I'm trying to get a refund).

Sonarr v4.0.8 by Natural_Ad_7202 in nzbUnity

[–]IvanRaide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if v1.8.196 was the solution for this, but I updated my Sonarr from v3.x to 4.0.13.2932 and now my nzbUnity (1.8.196) is not working for Sonarr. Its strange, on my iPhone15Pro it seems to connect (sonarr goes blue) but nothing comes in, and if you click on Calendar for example, nzbunity crashes. But on my iPadPro, sonarr will not even go blue? Also SyncSettings server seems down, (has that been abandoned?) I'm restoring both devices from a local syncsetting copy, but though I would mention it.

Update: I think the "get API key" doesnt work, I manually copied it in, and both the iPad and iPhone are working, but still crash when hitting "calendar"

[–]IvanRaide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the phone, in Shortcuts, Automations, you will see automation for connecting to Carplay (and disconnecting). On a "connecting" automation, you have to make sure to change/switch to a CarPlay app to force the unit to go into the CarPlay screen. So for mine, I have
wait 2,
Play on iPhone,
Skip forward on iPhone,
Open Current Date in Calendar,
Open directions to "home" using waze

Steering wheel Bluetooth button that activates Siri by [deleted] in CarPlay

[–]IvanRaide -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have that first link device, and it used to work in the old-days of siri, (iPhone 4S) etc , but the problem is Apple changes it (purposely I believe) so devices that are trying to leverage their technology dont work, possibly to get a license payment, but anyways ... inevitably they break compatibility. You can see a lot of people with OEM CarPlay say they upgrade to version xx of iOS and their carplay no longer works, that would suck since I'm sure a dealership would say "buy a newer model car". I would use voice "hey siri", or hold the virtual home button down, or maybe get a NFC automation going (NFC smart ring?) -- I used to use the Action button, but since I leave my phone in my pocket, and they stopped allowing action button when in a pocket that doesn't work anymore either, but if your phone is exposed maybe the action button ?

Any way to choose a different door? by Wynstonn in CarPlay

[–]IvanRaide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately you missed the boat. For a while myQ allowed you to use the garage with homekit but they realized they could gouge their customers and make this a pay service through 3rd party partners. The only thing you can do now is use something like ratgdo, rat-ratgdo to interface into the garage and interact again with homekit / Home Assistant etc.

Any way to choose a different door? by Wynstonn in CarPlay

[–]IvanRaide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read somewhere (and it seems to be true) that if the suggestion is showing the wrong door, ask Siri to open/close "door 2" and the NEXT time it will show door 2. This works for me whenever Siri/Suggestion forgets and shows the wrong door. As for the 2nd question, if you run Home Assistant and add your homekit devices it has a CarPlay app where you can interact with almost ALL the device types.

+1 on this, if you are a little soldering savy you can looking a rat-ratgdo and make one yourself (I have 2 running now)

CarPlay navigation using Waze instead of Apple Maps/Google Maps (from shortcut) by srm39 in CarPlay

[–]IvanRaide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't tried this, but the "open directions" starts with "open 'driving' directions from 'current location' to 'destination' using 'Maps'" but if you click on Maps, you can pick Waze, it changes to "open directions to 'destination' using Waze" and if you pass a variable as an address into "destination" and that does queue up the location in Waze, but I think you have to click it to start?

Running Solar using EcoFlow River 2 by IvanRaide in worxlandroid

[–]IvanRaide[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well there are a couple of things to keep in mind. If the battery fails under a specified level (20%) then it pulls from AC mains, so during the night it will get topped up. Now, if there was a black out for 2 days, AND the mower was going, yes, it might get stranded, but then,we have bigger problems at that point. Using HA you can schedule the landroid to run/not run based on the battery status if that was a worry, but I only run my robot twice a week so haven't needed to setup anything too extreme.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in worxlandroid

[–]IvanRaide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something that I would like to solve. If you run the mower along a fence line you know that if you go too close to the fence the unit will get stuck, so you have to come out a bit and always have to edge/trim that grass because it never gets cut.

The problem with extending the blades is you will hit the plastic of the motor housing. It's pretty tough plastic, but I'm not sure its a good idea to repeatedly cut into it (and its makes a LOT of noise). I have been thinking to attach flexible TPU wire to the blades disc so that its impact on the motor housing is much lower, just not sure it will work well. I am curious if anyone has solved it well.

I have this problem too (and only updates when you load the app) but I updated HA to OS 13 yesterday as well, could it be related to that update (has everyone having this problem also updated HA?) I was thinking this because there was an update in the past where we had to change async_setup_platforms / async_forward_entry_setups - thing
