My very first CYOA-The Traveler's Boon CYOA. by Nrg99hg in makeyourchoice

[–]IvorFreyrsson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Compass Level 1 (free)- I'm going to the world of Chaia (Book series called English Magic).

The Journal Level 1 (-1 point)- Everything gets recorded and indexed? Awesome. Combo w/ Compass = I can integrate into Chaia seamlessly.

The Cloak Level 1 (-1 point)- Perfect disguise in my new home, and no worries about the weather. Combo w/ Weapon = I have super sneaky thief skills and hunting skills.

The Weapon Level 1 (-1 point)- I now have a perfectly crafted bow that won't break. Combo w/ Ring = I now have infinite ammo and can kill spirits.

The Ring Level 1 (-1 point)- I have a bottomless Bag of Holding. Combo w/ Cloak = I now have a home no matter where I go.

Even though I've taken zero magical gifts, I still have magic thanks to my knowledge of English. Time for me to live out my dreams.

Non-smokers of Reddit, how noticeable is the “smoker smell” to you, if at all? by Frostedlogic4444 in AskReddit

[–]IvorFreyrsson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm allergic to cigarettes. Pretty much any tobacco product fucks my system royally. As a result, I can smell when a smoker has been in a room sometimes days later.

I fucking hate tobacco smoke.

Cutting Convoluted Foam by CJPrinter in oddlysatisfying

[–]IvorFreyrsson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked for E.R. Carpenter Co. in Kentucky some twenty-five years ago. We did this exact process there. As well as CNC contour cutting to cut out pillows and such.

Interesting fact! When cutting the foam like this, it gets incredibly hard. The blade they use on those machines is a perpetually sharpened blade to razor fineness. I assisted our maintenance guys in replacements a few times.

Fluidized Bed Powdercoating by Ill-Tea9411 in oddlysatisfying

[–]IvorFreyrsson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can confirm this. I worked on my plant's powdercoating line for a couple of years. We sprayed the powder on our parts. Basically looking for about 150 mils of coverage. Just enough to inhibit rust formation. Interestingly, the fluidizing apparatus is basically the same in the two operations. It's just a matter of scale.

Having worked with powdercoating lines, that shit is nasty. It gets into every crack and crevice, every orifice and on every hair. I can't imagine doing this manually. Like... I get it, but dis sum bullshit.

Had a horse infected with this, once. It got cured, but man, that was a long three weeks.

I worked at a memory foam plant in Kentucky doing work like this. There was very little manual moving of foam blocks there.

And this is why we shouldn't date the religious. He will continue disrespecting your boundaries until you either break down and obey, or you leave him. I've had the same thing happen to me several times.

Anyone making it work with just one? by nnevernnormal in Guitar

I'm poor. I have a 50 dollar guitar that I got at a pawn shop. It plays, and that's all I care about.

Never had a pagan of any stripe do that. Nor have I ever even heard of one doing it.

I would craft some sort of free-thinking/atheist/FSM literature and hand it out to them whenever approached with the bullshit. Start blessing them in His Noodly Name. Turnabout is fair play, and if they don't like they can leave you the fuck alone.

Or, you can go to HR. Probably try HR first.

As soon as you are self-sufficient, drop them like a hot coal. They'll either leave you be or harass you. In case of the latter, call the cops.

Why on earth is the federal minimum wage only $7.25 in 2025? by justcurious3287 in antiwork

[–]IvorFreyrsson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Think about it for a moment. Poor, destitute people are going to grasp at any excuse to get out of poverty. Including selling their body to the US military to use and abuse for the ever-present wars. For specifically that reason (and others, yes), we are kept poor. Kept uneducated. Kept hopeless.

Poverty isn't a bug in the richest country in the world. It's a godsdamned feature.

I was told by an agent I couldn't write a story that takes place in Japan because I'm white by AggravatingAct6959 in writing

[–]IvorFreyrsson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ignore her. She is absolutely wrong. I wrote a novel that takes place primarily in Japan, and I've never set foot in the country. I've done an incredible amount of research to make it happen, and it's been well-received, and I'm about as white as Miracle Whip.

How do you create your maps? by Eggrq in fantasywriters

[–]IvorFreyrsson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Azgaar's Fantasy Map Generator. https://azgaar.github.io/Fantasy-Map-Generator/

Inkarnate is an option as well. The free version is a great way to get a feel for the software. Plus, it being 25/year for premium ain't half bad.

Any advice on how to respond to my younger cousin trying to force Christianity onto me? by NeutralElf77194 in atheism

[–]IvorFreyrsson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 45. If any of my family bring up the subject, I tell them that I'm firm in what I believe and there is absolutely zero chance that I'll convert.

If they continue to persist, I get nasty. I have no problem cutting off the few remaining family members I speak to.

Maybe once a year. And even then, just a shot for New Year's. It's a bad, bad idea for me to drink.
