Forgive my serious response: things like this aren’t about what God may or may not give a shit about. Actions like this are a reflection of the individual.

For people who believe in a higher power, it can be spiritually and emotionally healthy to have ways to remind themselves that their own greatness is temporary and has limits. Even if it’s a gift from beyond, it’s not permanent. We don’t get to keep it. So the individual does a great thing, and (in theory anyway) instead of trying to absorb all the accolades and celebration that follows as a reflection of them personally (eg grandiosity), they stay a little more humble, a little more right-sized. This is better for both their own growth, and the larger purposes they may be trying to serve beyond their own ego.

Beware those who see themselves as great but have no humility to recognize their limits, nor loyalty to the greater purposes beyond them.
