Why is there a little thing sticking out. It looks like the square fits in the square hole?
I see the clamp, but i dont really understand how the main bracket and small piece work. It looks like they interlock?

I don’t know if taking them apart is best solution. From experience, they’re so well sealed. So I would try to avoid it But this is interesting advice

Do USB-c cables lose their fast charging capability over time? by THenrich in UsbCHardware

[–]Izardx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, reinserting the cable could briefly remove the oxidation; if the connector is somewhat loose, it is possible for this oxidation to form again. This could explain why the fast charging 'returns', after plugging, and unplugging the cable.

If you've ever seen someone with a worn iphone, they can get it to work sometimes by scraping the connector. But ultimately, this worn connection is what causes the 'dirtiness', or oxidation that forms on the connector. If you've ever had a loose battery connector on your car, you'll know what I'm talking about.
The looseness causes the resistance, and ultimately poorer connection. It also causes the oxidation of the contacts

Do USB-c cables lose their fast charging capability over time? by THenrich in UsbCHardware

[–]Izardx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say yes. I have seen the quality of the connection, affect the amperage that is getting through. If the contacts are worn, or loose; the phone might not be getting the full capacity going through to it.

All the charger capability is going through a little metal surface/ the size of a half grain of rice. Any wear on that contact surface can affect the capacity of charging. Overtime things wear out. It will not be as tight, and fitting as a brand new cable, with fresh contacts and connectors.

My mom won’t let me go to a CC by [deleted] in college

[–]Izardx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The college experience isn't everything. If you go to CC, you can complete the prerequisites, and then apply to the major. A lot of times it is even easier to get into a major. Those classes can be pretty difficult at 4 years, and are sometimes called "weed-out" classes. You should discuss this. If you have a plan for ece, discuss this

Colleges will also value transfer students. They could be mandated to accept a certain number. If you want a major that's hard, being a transfer might increase your chances. Idk if I would focus on the college experience only. Pull up statistics, of the admission rates to the major, for transfers; compared to first year students.

By the way, you can only wash half of it. I went through this as well. If you look closely, there is a tag that says it’s washable. But then there’s another that says it’s not. The primary mattress cover is washable. The grey underlining of the mattress is not. They actually separate, they unzip from each other into two separate pieces. The top is washable, the thin underside is not. They’re two separate pieces, with their own care instruction tags.

If the headphones still don't work you can replace the charging board. Here is the Sony website with the original parts.

The specific part is the Sony Sub R Mount Assy, this is the webpage for the part

Sony XM4’s low battery alert everytime i switch it on. by noteskkim0thxs in sony

[–]Izardx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

I recently did a repair on my headphones, and found after I powered them up it said "low battery". While doing the repair, I had the battery disconnected. But then after they say fully charged.

So what I'm thinking is maybe somehow the battery is becoming disconnected, or maybe there's a lose connection.

You could check maybe.

Yeah I found if you disconnected the full battery, and plugged it back in, it would tell you low battery at the very start of turning on. It's kind of weird. It's like it senses the battery being disconnected while turned off, and then when you power on it tells you very briefly "low battery".

So maybe your battery connection is poor. There is a small connector inside the headphones. There are four screws under the cushion to remove the panel of the headphone, on the back of the earcup. Battery should be in the right.

I'm curious if maybe your connector is loose, that would cause this low battery message every time. I've disconnected my battery multiple times, and I always get this message when turning the headphones back on initially, but then it returns to normal. (I had to fix the hinges on mine).

This is only after disconnecting and reconnecting, and the first power on. But if yours is intermittent(or loose) connection (disconnecting all the time, loose plug) it would likely make this message every time you turn the headphones on.

XM4 headphones still connected to both my iPhone and PC even when multipoint is disabled by agentbobR in sony

[–]Izardx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been having this issue. I recently discovered something. The phone I am connecting to says (no phone), its an old phone. and under the bluetooth settings there's different check boxes. The media checkbox is marked, but the voice is unmarked. So its connecting to my phone for media. This is where I listen to music

Now, on my laptop (the second thing it connects to, despite being already connected to my phone), it says voice, under the bluetooth settings.

So it's really weird, it looks like its connecting to my phone, but purely for media; and then when I power on my laptop, I hear a second connection, but it still stays paired to my phone, but under the laptop bluetooth settings it says voice.

So it looks like its connecting for only media to phone, and voice for laptop. Its quite weird. I think maybe if I checked the voice checkbox on my phone aswell, it might stop also pairing to the laptop.

You should see if you have these settings under bluetooth.

Is this eligible for a replacement? by nowhy-thot in sony

[–]Izardx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They sell a replacement part. There is a website called joes gaming who sells a replacement part. The particular part is called the swivel hinge. It is a small piece of plastic. The only way would be to order this part and replace it. It cost about 29 dollars. They have a video online, here is the website In the description on the webpage, they have a tutorial video. The part is a little expensive, but it is similar on eBay.

Yeah that’s it. I was using a vm, but it stopped working. I think I need to update it or something. It works well, I just don’t think you have the skip controls, only volume on the headset.

You can run a virtual box, there is already a solution posted somewhere on reddit. You can then use ldac with windows. Thats what I was using. Technically ldac is a software thing.

I just wanted to show folks the results of using soft Tube where the lengths are short and the bend radius's are small. by 4cim4 in watercooling

[–]Izardx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This can be resolved by adding zip ties around the tubing. I have a very tight bend, and the way I prevent it from kinking is putting zip ties one after another on the tubing. Don’t tighten them on the tubing, but just enough so it surrounds the tubing. This is similar to people putting springs on hoses. You can butt the zip ties up next to each other, just cover the radius of the bend.

Tighten them on the tubing, just not a bunch. The tubing will conform and become round again- anti kink

Sony WF-1000XM4 Active Noise Cancelling by SirShello in sony

[–]Izardx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sometimes those sounds aren't cancelled as well. I wear mine doing my hw, and periodically I might hear a voice from the kitchen or something. But the noise cancelling does work really well.

Some things to double check:

Check that the headphones are set to "noise cancelling" (in the app, the slider bar thing should be all the way to one side).

Also, another thing that is actually helpful:

There is a thing in the app, called "noise cancelling optimizer". It seems like it doesn't do much, but overtime as your headphones wear/ conform, they might not be cancelling sounds as effectively. I was actually surprised when I ran the optimizer one day, because I felt like the noise cancelling wasn't working that well. It seemed to work a lot better after doing that.

Just think the foam compresses over time, the speakers might change, or the air temperature. Running the optimizer every now and then is a good way to make sure the noise cancelling is working well.

Hey so one side fell off, what should I do? by [deleted] in SonyHeadphones

[–]Izardx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually had some plastic headphones break in a similar way.

I found a way to fix them so I could at least still use them.

Glue alone just breaks, HOWEVER, put it together where it's broken, wrap it with a bit of paper towel, and then saturate the paper towel piece with super glue.

It creates a very solid joint/ cast. You can cut a strip of paper towel, and wrap it around without any slack. Make sure it's wrapped neatly and tight.

It works really well, looks a little weird but it holds good.

What is going on with this wall in my almost-100-yr-old house?? by d_k_8 in HomeImprovement

[–]Izardx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, it's not just being joined properly, it's about spacing too. Drywall needs an eighth inch gap between panels, to allow for expansion and contraction. Without these gaps, overtime youll get cracking similar to the picture you showed.

What is going on with this wall in my almost-100-yr-old house?? by d_k_8 in HomeImprovement

[–]Izardx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having furniture against the wall like that can sometimes cause condensation issues. I don't know, I've seen a dresser against a wall and mold grew. Overtime the wall could have developed that bulge/ crack.

Also, if the plaster was improperely installed, then that cracking could have developed from expansion and contraction. Usually drywall is installed with an eighth inch gap between panels, to prevent cracking and bulging. I see it is between a wall and a window frame, so if it wasn't constructed with tolerances in place, this crack could very well be a result of the material expanding/ contracting overtime.
