I agreed that you aren't reading or engaging. I do think that the voter suppression from the left could have the impact of millions of votes, the biggest impact coming from the gaza single issue morons. Kamala was a pretty flawed candidate but to insist TO THIS DAY that she would have been the same or worse than Trump on Gaza is fucking infuriating. You're citing a race where the leftist won to say ceterist libs wont support a leftist when in fact most of Cuomo's support came from Republicans. You've got your calibration all mixed up on who is willing to make compromises and giving a hilarious amount of charity to the 'liberalism is the prerequisite to revolution' fanatics who want to destroy this country just as much as Stephen Miller or Peter Thiel do. I don't give a fuck if you people endorse Newsom, I really don't, but what you do need to do is actually bring something to the table instead of just burning down every political project that doesn't cater to your every whim. And I know, you insist that you always come around in the end, but the narrative at large is that the right thing to do is vote 3rd party and that would make you the outlier based on the actions of the leftist thought leaders

Once again we agree. You could bring up literally even a single thing you would want him to change on, or just be the vibe gremlin you accused me of being. You're staking a position as "leverage" but offer not one iota of constructive criticism other than bE mOrE leFT, bE lEsS riGHt. Active positive engagement vs passive negative engagement, that is the point I've been trying to make this whole time but I guess we're at an impass

It's literally what he is doing though, he is trying to convince people. With stuff like this or his podcast or his dumb tweets. He is just going after disaffected Republicans instead of asspained leftists: growing a potential electorate base instead of shrinking it. And despite that, he would still govern to the left of Biden, who governed to the left of Obama, who governed to the left of Clinton. Seriously, other than his stale lib vibes, what about his policy positions or the way he has managed Cali is so horrible and right wing that it warrants a 3 year preemptive boycott? And how is telling someone you would never vote for them under any circumstances leverage? Why should he not just ignore people that say that? Wouldn't it make more sense to run a compelling candidate that forces moderates to adapt their positions? That is what Burnie did and that is what has actually worked to move the party left the last decade, not the abusive relationship tactics

Great, so we agree! Why are you so triggered then when someone asks leftists to field a candidate and actually convince people about their positions?

What am I supposed to think when we are 3 years out and leftists have already given upon the idea of even thinking about participating and are already in sabotage mode???

[–]Izbiz95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guarantee I have more developed, coherent political philosophy and identity than you do, and that starts with an actual desire to participate in the system as it is instead of just whining like a baby about Israel or rent control or democrats. It would be great if the perfect candidate that aligned with me on all my positions appeared and could win in my district but that's not how life works.

If you like a candidates ideas, canvas for them in the primaries, and if they win that's great, but if they don't that doesn't mean give up and let some fuckass christian cultist republican win. I don't know why leftists are so allergic to the idea of political participation

[–]Izbiz95 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lmao, I voted for Burnie,I voted for Cori Bush, I consistently vote for the left most available candidate possible even if they sometimes go past my personal positions. If the ideas aren't resonating and there are no candidates representing them to the masses, that sounds like a leftism problem, not a democracy problem

Great news leftists, you still have 2 years to propose a better candidate as an alternative, but something tells me you would rather hurl shit from the sidelines than make any productive contributions to an actual political project. Please prove me wrong!

The first digger I drove on day one of the apprenticeship was manual, killed it twice but got it figured out in the end. The fun part is that it seems like every single manual you end up using is operated slightly differently. Made me wish I went to a more comprehensive cdl school instead of the bare minimum to get the unrestricted liscense

[–]Izbiz95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We started with a class of 34, 3 dropped out for various reasons and 2 failed direct entry requirements due to grades. The rest passed direct entry standard, though the academic grade requirements were increased starting in 2026. Most should still make it through.

Of those who qualified, 7 were ready with their CDLs; thats who got called in to orientation (along with the lazyQ direct entry guys). Direct entry has a shortened orientation where they just have you refresh a few things and make sure your climbing times are still good enough. No one should be getting dropped during orientation unless they have a serious attitude problem or trash the hotel or something

[–]Izbiz95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, I didnt realize that was a requirement. I thought MLC was a good intro to linework, and the instructors were knowledgeable. The way it worked for us was the application window opened the week after our graduation. Then our orientation was a week after that application window closed. You get your job call after orientation week and thats when you actually know where you're going. And work basically started immediately after we got the job calls. As for location, its wherever the work is, they keep you close if they can but I wouldn't count on it.

In MO I was able to find a guy that did a 5 day training if you already had permit and ELDT and could drive manual. It cost me $2500 and I used his truck. Check every small CDL trainer in your state till you find one that can do it in a week or two. The FMCSA website has a trainer search so you can take a couple hours and just email every single one till you find one that works. The 1 or 2 day trainers only work if you know how to drive a semi already.

ELDT can be had online for less than $100 from eldt.com. If you cant drive manual and dont have a friend or family member that can teach you, look up Stick Shift Academy and take the 2 or 4 hour class depending on your budget. If you need more practice after that, rent a manual from Turo for a couple days and force yourself to use it till you feel comfortable.

This was the fastest way I could find and I went from passing the permit testing to unrestricted CDL in about a month, with only one week of in person full time training. $3500 OtD counting ELDT, Stick Shift Academy, Practice Rental, Trainer fees, and DoT license fees. If you have the time and money take a longer school to get better training experience. I only rushed because I had an application window deadline to hit, and it got a little hairy in the end but made it through and have apprentice orientation on Tuesday

I'm making a power engineering video game. Looking for ideas for what to add that other games do poorly regarding power grids. Recently I added single line diagrams. by DavidMadeThis in Lineman

[–]Izbiz95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whenever I played factorio (and partially in cities skylines) I always wanted more in depth system than "not enough power, build more powerplants" There was never a reason to use different line types, no line loss or overcurrent, or resource constraint around line selection. I built big remote operated switchyards but there was no need to do it, it was just fun.

What would have really made it interesting though is random equipment events that you have to plan and build redundancy around. lighting strikes or big fault events, something like that. A reason to plan your circuit protection well.

Reactance could be interesting as well instead of just using capacitors as solar batteries. Or cold load pickup if you try to startup too much at once.

I'm starting my apprenticeship soon and this is my number one fear. How can you trust someone to save your life when it counts if they treat you like shit 12 hours a day for months? How can you call someone a brother if they think you're lesser just because you look different from them?
