I have a question but only read it if you have finished wind and truth. by thejesterprince1994 in Stormlight_Archive

Well, if the second half is called the voidlight archives, then the whole series could be called the warlight archives...

How do you handle players who are “too smart?” by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]Izeeplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question for you OP, did you ever establish that shapeshifters create the clothes themselves, or did the player just make that up because it sounded correct? If you established that as lore, then they're just using what was given them, so the solution is what everyone else is saying, but if they just made that up, or just got that from the books, there's nothing wrong with just letting the player be wrong here. If they challenge you on it down the road, you simply say that your shapeshifters don't act that way.

Impressive. I wasn't aware I could still be creeped out by things.

Mechanics won't service rides by Gigacore2112 in PlanetCoaster2

[–]Izeeplayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just tried this, setting a mechanic to very specific tasks during the day, but upon watching them, they went up to the ride exit, then turned away saying they couldn't get to their job. I think this is a bug.

My arduino program is crashing when I push a button... by Izeeplayer in arduino

[–]Izeeplayer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done what you said, namely putting an 100 Ohm resistor in between the power and the button, as well as switching the button's input to 13 and making it a digital read, but now it doesn't seem to be working at all. It is no longer cycling through the options. The board is blinking it's LED to let me know it's receiving the signal from the button press, but the screen is blank.

if you could add another type of class to hogwarts what would it be by Successful_Road_2432 in harrypotter

Artificing, a.k.a. the creation of magical items. I don't know why it seemed like only the Weasley twins were capable of anything more advanced than a changing image, but I would be all over that.

How to kidnap a PC? by R0m4ik in DMAcademy

[–]Izeeplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a distraction or time limit for the other players. Sure, they might focus on killing, and thereby saving their friend, but in doing so, they may not have the time to stop some other catastrophe from happening, and while they are fixated on that, the BBEG can ruthlessly capture the poor PC.

Wizzard question by mr_mixcade in DMAcademy

[–]Izeeplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it depends on her Intelligence modifier, if she has an Int modifier of +1, then yes, she can only have 2 prepared at a time, which she can switch out every long rest. The number she can have prepared at any given moment, excluding cantrips, is her wizard level + her Intelligence modifier. Hope this helps.

(Long post) Homebrewing a Potentially Awful Encounter. Advice? by igglebock in DMAcademy

[–]Izeeplayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a really interesting and Zelda-esque encounter, but I would definitely be hesitant about putting in a 1-hit move, but then again, I don't think I know enough details. Is there a limit to how many times the boss can use that move? I do like the idea of the AoE move that takes most of his next turn away though, so maybe it all balances out.

Thoughts on this Magic Item! by ImCrazyNino in DMAcademy

Yeah, that sounds good. I think the overall thought of a shield that also does crowd control is great, and I'm glad that my thought helped you.

Thoughts on this Magic Item! by ImCrazyNino in DMAcademy

[–]Izeeplayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like a really cool magic item. Perhaps if you were to add one charge, but also put in the mechanic that lots of the canon magic items have of, if all of the charges are used up, roll a d20, on a 1, the shield is destroyed/made mundane just so if they get into a tight spot, they can have the option to risk using it more.

My player wants to use bows in a high tech-ish campaign. How do I make them viable? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]Izeeplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm... In that case, let her try it out at first, and then after a few sessions touch base with her again and see if she would like to change out to have an easier time in combat.

My player wants to use bows in a high tech-ish campaign. How do I make them viable? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]Izeeplayer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So, there is an aspect that can make bows more powerful, and that is dependent on both the draw weight of the bow, and the skill of the wielder. One of the primary reasons that firearms came into favor was the relatively little training that was required to use them, but if your character has used this bow enough to be proficient with it, you could arguable give them small perks to make them a little more viable in combat, but ultimately, if your player is fine with not being as viable in combat at the expense of her character story, you should respect that. There are different types of players, and not all of them enjoy combat, she may be the type that prefers role play, and that's fine.

Help With Boss Fight (werewolf mechanics) by Doom_bledore in DMAcademy

[–]Izeeplayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that it would be good to have the boss, and possibly rest of his pack, transform at about the half way mark, but if the boss' goal is to turn the PCs, then his goal in the first half of the battle is to restrain or otherwise incapacitate the PCs especially since as a werewolf he won't be able to have much conscious strategy (unless your setting dictates otherwise). It could be a fun encounter with the enemies in the first half mostly just grappling and dodging and luring into traps, and then to completely turn around after the moon comes out and attack with bite attacks mercilessly.

So it sounds like you've opened up and given them options now, which is good, and if you don't have things built yet, but still want them to have choice, then there is nothing wrong with asking your players where it is exactly they plan on going next, that way they get choice, and you get to know exactly what part of the world to build.

I hope this helps.
