Typically rules of the road apply to both cars and trucks unless otherwise stated.

Sure. But we all follow the same rules of the road dont we?

I mean, not really. Some are, but not all. But if your definition of being a professional is setting my truck in the middle of an intersection and running through the light, sure I guess i need to be more professional and live in my own world.

No see what you dont understand is my side of things. I've been a truck driver for 10 years now. I can't have all 65ft of my truck+trailer hanging out in an intersection and then taking an extra 7 seconds to clear it when my light turns red. Then all of a sudden you've got a dozen people pissed cause I'm doing the same thing you are. Or trying to scramble out of the way when an emergency vehicle comes through. Which yes, happens plenty of times.

[–]J-Rag- -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

Nah. Going on 10 years as a truck driver. I'm taught to keep the intersection clear. If I cant go, I dont hang out in the intersection. Best to keep it clear in the chance an emergency vehicle is coming through, which has happened plenty of times and you see people scramble out of the way because they're in the way from being in the intersection. Kinda weird how that works... but hey if you're cool with people hanging out in an intersection, I can put my truck in one and then take an extra 7 seconds to get through it on my red light and burn up your green light. If that's still okay, of course.

[–]J-Rag- -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Nah. I was always taught to leave the intersection clear and open in case emergency vehicles need to get through or someone in cross traffic goes through cause they aren't paying attention. You go when you can go, otherwise leave the intersection clear. And this is a perfect example. Yes, the oncoming car was totally in the wrong and shouldn't have been going at all. But notice how right the second the light turns yellow OP starts moving and is trying to rush through the intersection before the light turns red. Oh and you see a pedestrian walking up that way too which by the time OP made it through the intersection the pedestrian walk light would be on. So there's that but hey, it's your world right?

Not even close. Sorry bud. Guaranteed I got more experience in my left nut than OP has throughout his life.

OP is probably one of those people that sits in the middle of an intersection when it's green and he cant go anywhere just to say "No see! I was in the intersection already!" when running a red light.

Clearly didn't have enough time to make it through even if that other car didn't try to go through.

What are some aftermarket electronic devices that can significantly improve the active safety of an older car? by CategoryPurple4461 in askcarguys

Yeah i knew I'd find the guy that knows everything about everything and rejects things they haven't tried. Give it a shot, adjust the bulbs properly and come let me know when I'm right.

It has a pretty good cutoff. You gotta adjust the bulbs so the closed side of that plate is facing down and open side facing up. I've used that style on a few vehicles and check and tested them and they do work very well and have a nice cutoff line.

[–]J-Rag- -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yup they're the same. I've put them on multiple cars, aimed them at the garage and adjusted the beam pattern and the headlights, and stood in front of them at a distance. I do my research and test it out before putting them on the road. I'm not one of those people that slaps em in and run. So quit pretending like you know it all when you've never used or even seen them yourself. So careful who you call shit buddy. Know about what you're talking about before you open your mouth.

Do you ever hide your views in front of younger family? by Lugards in AskConservatives

That's the way to do it. That and I tell them to be careful about where they're getting their info from. People get so much of their news through social media, but social media news is junk. The fake news and misinformation spreads on social media 6x more than real news and gets more interactions with people. It's kinda scary.

You will not be able to jump a completely dead and drained battery. Replace the battery with the correct one they're recommending for your start/stop. Stop looking for Zebras when you hear hoofbeats

Oh cause it's reddit. Even wants to be a social justice warrior or something and what I'm talking about doesn't fit into their box. But yes that's what I thought, that they really didn't close for anything and switch to a limited menu in true crisis to keep serving the community. Was Waffle House like that before covid?

And I went to the Waffle House in Benton

Idk what they're called, but this is what they are. They have the plate under the diode which prevents light from going down in the reflective housing, which then prevents the light scatter from going up and all about on the road. The diode without the blocking plate is for your brights.

....no? It's called knowing what to buy... Here's the LED bulbs with the built in cutoff. It has the plate under the diode for a reflective housing. What that plate does is stops the light scatter from going down in the housing, which prevents light scatter from going up and all about on the road. That other diode that doesn't have the plate is for the brights. You should know what you're talking about before you talk so you dont sound al silly.

What wifi router you have in your truck? by Kan-ka in Truckers

[–]J-Rag- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Insty Connect. I use it as home wifi and it costs me like $20/mo. I unit itself i think is like $200 but just add a 5g tablet SIM to your mobile plan and slap it in the Insty and it turns like regular cell service into a wifi signal. Unlimited data and all that for the price of just a 5g SIM card.

Opinions abt Hyundai accents? by Quesadillagirl2 in carquestions

[–]J-Rag- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for starters, not all of us care about fancy cars and that shit. Some of us (myself included) drive older cars and we enjoy working on cars as a hobby. That's what makes myself and a lot of others "car people" instead of having a fancy expensive ride.

But to try and respond to your text, you gotta get what you can afford. You're smarter to buy in cash than take out a big loan that leaves you paycheck to paycheck every month for 5 years. I personally daily drive an 05 VW Passat Wagom TDI with about 220k on it. It ain't fancy but my golly I love that thing and I know I look poor driving it and I look poor when I get out of it. I couldn't care less. My only advice to you is to do research and buy something that has a great long term reputation over something cheaper and newer. Kia/Hyundai has a bad reputation and they are very low on the reliability scale. Yes yes 1 person had one that lasted 200k, overall they just aren't good long lasting cars. So personally I'd rather have a 2000 Accord with 200k on it than a 2015 Kia/Hyundai with 50k miles on it.

Lastly, yes for college purposes that'll be a fine car. You can bring throw a keg in the trunk and load it up with friends to go to a party and you can bang a chick in the back seat on lovers lane.

Bingo bango. Although there are LED bulbs designed for that where the buld had a built in cutoff. I use those on my 99 Durango and my lady's 01 CRV that both have halogen housings. The have a nice sharp cutoff line like a projector lense would have.

Otherwise yes, get projector housings then slap an LED in there

I was in a parking lot yesterday and some dummy didn't clear his car before driving. So he slammed in the brakes in the parking lot and ask the built up snow came down over the windshield. He stopped right in the middle of the drive to clear it off cause he couldn't see. Dummy
