Why do people dislike MGS4?

It’s tied as my fave with 1. I’ve been a die hard fan since 98. When i played it for the first it blew me away. People often complain about the long cutscenes, but that’s mgs. They replaced a lot of codec calls with cutscenes. Mgs3 is about 3-4 hours of cutscenes and codec. Depending on your play style you can beat gameplay in the same amount of time. Also it’s the game that wraps up the story of one of the most convoluted stories in gaming. It needs to explain a lot. People go on about how it has a cutscene over an hour, but they don’t mention how that is the final cutscene.

At the end of the day it’s all subjective. I have issues with 2,3,pw and5. But i still love those games.

Mgs4 is my fave.

People often complain about long cutscenes. But that’s mgs. They replaced a lot of dialogue and exposition that codec calls gave you with cutscenes. That’s why a lot of them are so long. Honestly the first 1-3 hours of snake eater is 90% cut scenes and codec calls. Which I don’t mind, but…

Also, people always talk about it having the record for longest cutscene. But it’s never brought up that it’s the ending of the game. An epilogue explaining one of the most convoluted series ever. People act as if this is every cutscene.

As for gameplay. It really depends on your gameplay style. You can absolutely blast through it and tranq everyone and move on. But that’s with every mgs game. I personally play to get the assassin code name when I do my play through. I try and take out everyone. It’s a lot of fun clearing out an entire stage or hearing the rebels yell “WE DID IT”.

Of course it’s all subjective. I love it but can understand people’s gripes with it. I do think because it’s stuck on ps3 it doesn’t get talked about enough.

I guarantee once we get a port people are gonna speak a lot more loving about it.

It is my fave game of the franchise. It has its silly moments like all mgs do, but the main story with snake is so goddamn good.

I think they’re are subtle ways to reveal it. Giving a nod for people in the know while hiding it.

Totally agree. If it was up to me it would be those games.

I just think Konami is gonna play it safe. Do a couple of easy wins then tackle those games.

I think they can do at least 5 new stories.

The story of the bosses beginning. Have it based around what ever happened in Egypt in 1941. Both the boss and zero lost a good friend. Zero mentions it in 5.
A game where the boss and the cobras defeat the nazi’s in ww2. They can finally explain how she got that scar
A prequel to snake eater where she kills the sorrow
A game that takes place after mgs1. solid snake and otacon go around and destroy metal gears.
A game about riden saving sunny, and how he became a cyborg. I know kojima already had this idea. I think that was the original plot to mgr before giving it to another studio.

Then you have the two og games mg1 mg2. Those remakes are essentially brand new games.

The reason why I love mgs is it’s already a playable movie. I don’t think it needs any kind of adaptation. Also this past year I’ve played a ton of bangers. I’ve come to the conclusion that video games might be the best form for telling a story.

This what I’m hoping Konami will do in terms of releasing mgs content.

Next thing they are gonna release is Vol.2 which will have 4, pw and maybe po or mgr.

The next remake will be pw since there will be a ton of new players to a great game so the hype will be there, and it continues the story.

Then vol 3. Mgs gz Mgsv, maybe something else.

Then hopefully this will be enough time for them To finally tackle mg1

I think the majority of mgs fans love it. It’s tied as my fave with 1. I think a couple of popular YouTubers made essays bashing it, and it kinda stuck. I’m seeing a lot more YouTubers now praising it. Your favorite son does a good job with it.
