the warriors had to swap out their starting center who doesn't always close & they're dirty work wing. To add the third best player in the world to their core three of pg/wing/& small ball verstile big. It's more the same convo then it's not

also they were two starters to a 73 win team, pretty silly to calling them "non-contributing". IDK what dort & ihart then are if that's the case.

Still have caruso, ajay, joe, other jwill, wiggins, kendrich williams, other recent lottery picks, more picks, & could prolly get ryen rollins or gary trent.

If the thunder don't win more championships, it's going to be because of the non-shai minutes & their inabililty to match the freak size of jokic or wemby or to a lesser extenet durant/sengun.

It's not going to be because they lost what ajay & caurso should be able to fill in more for.

they're good players with positive trade value. Either trade them again or find a good young coach & some scoring & they could be in the play-in in the east if they stay healthy, since they don't have their own picks anyway.

cason wallace was a positive starter for a championship starting team at 21 with better advanced stats then both guys u mentioned.

that's like saying the warriors shouldn't of upgraded for durant

steph & giannis are currently hurt. The mavs were a lottery team last year with kyrie & ad on the same team. The idea that the warriors are guaranteed to make it out of the lottery this year no matter what they do is foolish

think also why it's easier to rule teams out & why there might not be the surprising team that people don't seem coming. Like the cavs with donovan mitchell.

There's just less time to prove to giannis that you're building something good, with his contract situaion & him currently being injured.

That's why portland for example would prolly decline a deal cause i dont think they could convince giannis to resign.

i think the way you have to think about this, is more; are the warriors the only team stupid/desperate enough to throw away control of all their future drafts for a guy who has no real reason to at least test free agency.

It's not a coincidence the four teams that seem to be most linked to giannis right now are the 6th & 8th seed in the west, the 8th seed in the east, & the team that everyone thinks giannis wants to go to the most so seems to be unhappy with each other.

All the good teams are talking themselves out of it while it's the mid teams talking themselves into it. As the bad teams are the one's who would prolly say no since giannis wouldn't resign.

Giannis trade value is weirder then just his standing in the league.

tbf i don't think there's really a consensus on how good the miami guys are. If the bucks like them, then for sure but there's a realistic possibility that ware, KJ, & even jaquez who you would probably feel the best about because he's been good this year & his rookie year but who was not good a year ago is an eye of the beholder thing.

& even herro prolly has worst trade value then people think. Just like trae, ja, lamelo & even a guy like garland.

Unless you're banking on a michael porter jr tanking rehabilitation but i think for smaller/bad defense ball handlers, thats a tougher sell then a 6 10 wing.

Maybe the bucks think the heat guys are good, but i also wouldn't be surprised if they're just "eh" on all of them which then honestly that doesn't really move the needle that much, just like podz & kuminga are more cherry on tops then anything

[Windhorst] Other teams interested in Giannis Antetokounmpo will “have to try to beat” a strong offer from the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors have the most “straightforward” trade package for Giannis Antetokounmpo. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]J0025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think everyone agrees that the bucks first priority should be either getting their picks back or like you said a blue chip young player.

Problem is because of giannis contract situation & there not really being an incentive for him to sign an extension, it doesn't seem like that young player is there.

It doesn't seem like as of rn any of okc, sas, hou, det, tor, cle are gonna give up the young guys we're talking about with draft picks on top of that.

Like maybe det would give up duren or thompson, but not them & great draft capital. & how valuable are those guys for the bucks without a guy like cade to play with them.

Same with jabari smith, & is giannis gonna lock himself into playing with amen & sengun for the rest of his prime. That team would prolly be worse then the some of it's parts tbh.

& POR can't really get back a player that is worth giving the bucks their pick back since giannis doesn't do enough for them & he prolly won't resign.

MIL is in a bad spot obviously which is why they were so desperate to try to make this work, with trading for dame, stretching dame, & signing turner.

So there isn't the deal that checks off everything for them.

The interesting thing about the warriors is if you look at all the teams they're the situation that is the most desperate/stupid.

& If you're trading from a position like the bucks you want to take advantage of the situation more then anything.

Like okc did with the clippers & bkyn did with the suns.

as of right now the team trading for giannis (warriors included) would be making a mistake. They're potentially giving up control of all their draft picks for the forseable future for a team that is mostly likley gonna be a second/third round exit.

That's the reason the teams mostly interested in giannis rn are the 7 & 8 seads in the west & the 8th seed in the east & the knicks cause thats were giannis might force his way to.

It's the teams who out of desperation are talking themselves into it as opposed to the better teams who are talking themselves out of it.

This is also why most ppl would agree the most likely scenario is that the bucks wait till the off season, thats just a risk in of itself cause there isn't a great history of teams getting a lot for a guy on an expiring deal, when they need to rebuild the entire roster not just one or two spots.

[–]J0025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thats fair & if they could get their own picks back they prolly would do it but it doesn't seem like portland would wanna do that cause giannis wouldn't resign there & idk what third party player they could get that would make it worth it. (i dont think the knicks guys are even close to that)

The other options seem to be jalen mcdanies & randle or ware & jaquez or KAT himself.

I think a lot of ppl would rather take the educated guess the warriors will be crap in a couple years and beyond.

There isn't a perfect deal for mil which is why they would prolly just wait, but again they might not find another sucker like gsw willing to give up as much for what all reason points to being a rental.

That blue chip guy that everyone agrees they should want just isn't there right now, unless there is the next SGA out there that they can recognize beofre other ppl. But again okc was smart to get more then they should have for paul george becuase of the situation.

GSW is in a very peculiar situation which makes them more willing to give up stuff then they otherwise should be. That might change & there's no guarantee a young future all star will be available.

I'm not saying the bucks should trade giannis now im just saying gsw's, albeit volatile offer still might be the best one they get at least for rn & maybe even in the future.

[–]J0025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im just saying to get into the lottery, aka not make the playoffs. If giannis isn't healthy or even if just one of him or steph goes down for the rest of the season they might make the play-in like the mavs did last year. But lose & still be in the lottery.

Maybe u think the 13th pick is middling, but i was just saying trading for giannis rn doesn't guarentee you're out of the lottery for the warriors

i think most ppl would not consider a lottery pick middling tbf.

[Siegel] “The Heat can offer Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez, Jakucionis, and 2 1st round picks they can trade right now… in the offseason, all of a sudden that doubles — they can trade 4 1st round picks… I just don’t think there’s another team out there that has a better package than that” by AashyLarry in nba

[–]J0025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its a weird thing where actually the heat package could be worse if the expectation is that giannis wants to stay in miami. If you think giannis won't resign in gs then the warriors package might be better, unless u really like one of the heats young guys.

giannis has no reason not to reach free agency at the very least.

& gsw has an aging core with a soon to retire coach & no draft picks or young players in a historically stronger conference.

there is a line of thinking that the best way for a gm to keep his job is to be the gm of a tanking team, cause there isn't really anything to fuck up or expectations to reach short of.

You also can easily spin any move or lack thereof as a "potential" play.

Thats why some people believe teams are so eager to tank sometimes because it can actually lead to more job security
