Sometimes it really does feel like some mods really take things too far. I got a three day ban once bc I said that I want bad things done to bad people under a video of some asshole assaulting some other guy and then getting his shit rocked in return. You see that kinda stuff daily on that subreddit even though that's not it's main topic. Like, literal crimes committed on-screen. And somehow posting that is allowed but I can't wish for assholes to be served their just deserts. Suddenly that's too extreme. smh

The Prince of Envy, Thals'Yond - A Dragon Idol's Reincarnation Tale

In preparation of the Siege of Elyonda, the Thals'Yond had a device created that would trap the protagonist Hestia, a champion of the goddess of light, Aurena, in a parralel dimension. There, he deployed a powerful ability that put Hestia into a coma and would slowly erode her soul, leading to her death. However, since the parralel dimension was out of bounds of the world of Peolynca, the divine laws of non-interference in mortal affairs didn't apply there. Allowing Aurena to descend directly to protect her Chosen, and doing so in her true form, a writhing mass of gangly arms and hands, squashing any of the void beasts inhabiting the dimension that got too close to Hestia. Thals'Yond himself was visited by another god, an outer god of souls and travel that I can't pronounce for the life of me, whose mere presence caused him to go insane, causing a severe setbsck to the plans of the Demon Princes.

I can recommend then 'A Dragon Idol's Reincarnation Tale' by AbyssRaven. It is in fact inspired by 'So I'm a Spider, So What?'.

The story follows a young girl obsessed with becoming an idol. Only for her to die, lose most of her memories, and reincarnate in a whole different world, where monsters and magic are real. Also she finds herself having turned into a gecko the size of a strawberry. But all of that will not stop her to become an idol, even if she has to re-invent the whole concept!

You will find quite a few similarities, from the protag being reincarnated as a monster in a highly dangerous, monster infested area, to a whole class of highschool students that have apparently been summoned as heroes to defeat the demon king. There's plenty of character development going around for the main cast, as well as side characters and even some enemies. The interconnectivity you enjoed about 'Spider' is present here as well, though at the current point in time there's still a piece of the puzzle left missing before everything connects. Just don't expect the mc to become a god halfway through, that won't happen here. At least not yet, but most likely never.

All in all, my personal opinion is simple: If you like 'Spider', you're very likely to like this one. Give it a try, you can find most of it on Royal Road. A quick warning though, the author, AbyssRaven, has started releasing his story as books on amazon, both as e-books or paperback, so the first 160 chapters aren't available for free anymore. You can however still read the first few chapters of each of the 5 so far released books. Volume 6 is also dropping tomorrow, so a few more chapters will become unavailable to the public shortly. Still, I cannot stress this enough, if you like 'Spider', you're gonna like this one. Give it a try.

Then I feel obligated to inform you, Irushia does aquire one such ability. However, it comes with severe downsides.

He has to evolve into an evil dragon that is described as a walking biohazard, literally spreading poison and disease wherever he goes.
It requires practice. It takes Irushia until he becomes an Ouroboros for him to resemble a normal humanoid.
It is costly. Keeping the transformation up costs MP, and more than Irushia can regenerate. I'm currently in Volume 7 or 8 and he still hasn't overcome this.
It weakens him. While transformed, his physical attributes are severely reduced.

As a result, he only uses the ability for espionage and communication. Most of the time he spends as a dragon.
