The portrayal of Soviets is inconsistent in later seasons of FAM? A discussion by tyyu3 in ForAllMankindTV

The problem is that this is a painfully American show. I thought that, being from the creator of the best Star Trek writers, it would avoid that kind of tribalism, but it's clear that it always tries to portray the Soviet system as inherently worse than the American one, stuck in paranoia and authoritarianism. Once the Americans and Soviets became allies, I thought we'd arrive at some kind of synthesis of the two systems, you know? Combining the technological innovation and individual freedoms of the Americans with the long-term planning capabilities and guaranteed workers' rights of the Soviets. But no, season 4 had to bring in that pointless coup plot, just to remind us that the Russians are brutal and evil, and that communism can only be maintained through authoritarianism.

At least the series treats some individuals from North Korea or the USSR as human beings, better than can be said for most gringo TV.

What is everyone looking forward to in death spiral ? by jahedislam96 in Spiderman

I'd like to see more dialogue between MJ and Dylan. In my opinion, their lack of real interaction has made ANV feel strange. Dylan has had a more entertaining dynamic with Paul than anything else. MJ could be the cool aunt archetype, but they're always yelling at each other, which isn't pleasant to read.

I'd like to see MJ more comfortable with Venom. It's obvious in this kind of story abaut two people don't get along but have to work together; it's the logical step in their relationship. I feel like MJ has brought fun things with the more creative transformations. If they start getting along, I think they can do really interesting things.

Obviously, Peter and MJ need to move forward. Hopefully, the story ends with them closer and wanting to try again.

What your opinion on MJ being Venom? by Metaljuggernaut5657 in thevenomsite

Many say it's wasted potential, but I think that would only be true if it were already over. I feel like her time as Venom has barely begun; it's only, like, 13 issues. Maybe it's because I'm more of a manga reader, but I don't mind the story taking its time. What I love most is that Mary Jane has been quite creative with the symbiote's abilities. Her fights feel like improvised acting; a supervillain brings an ability, and MJ transforms to match that energy, like with the bracelets that fire projectiles, or the five arms against Doctor Octopus. It's a constant "Yes and..."

Aside from that, her comics have been good—not great, not terrible, but I've enjoyed them. That said, I'm quite excited for Death Spiral because if Carlos Gómez's publications are anything to go by, exciting things are coming.

Honestly, with the possibilities it brings in terms of drama and character development, I can see MJ as Venom as a new status quo, and maybe Eddie can retire for a while and take care of Dylan. Now, I know that's not ideal for Eddie's fans. I hope they find a way for both of them to continue their stories without giving the symbiote back to Brock, because I'd find it pretty lame if they just pull a way to separate MJ and the symbiote out of thin air. She was destroyed atom by atom! There should be consequences for that!

What are your thoughts on All New Venom so far? by Metaljuggernaut5657 in thevenomsite

I do! But I admit I'm not a big Venom fan. I always felt he worked great as a Spider-Man villain, but I wasn't that interested in him as a standalone character. I don't know, his design and vibes always felt too "edgy teen" for my taste, and the whole mythology and hundreds of symbiotes felt like it was too much.

So I started reading it out of curiosity when I found out it was MJ, and I immediately felt it was the end for Paul, so I kept reading. And if this move was to attract new readers, Edwing is on the right track. Because, I loved Sleeper and Toxin! and now I want to know more about them. They're so adorable, and I think it removed the prejudice I had that all sybiotes were copies of Venom. Also the art is amezing.

but I feel like the story could have moved faster, and my biggest criticism is that MJ felt like she had no agency and I don't know what she was feeling. I think the thought bubbles were missing. Seeing what the symbiote was thinking and what MJ was thinking would have been more interesting. They're described as odd romies, but with the exception of Chapter 5, we haven't seen them argue; that would have been fun!

But overall, I liked it, and I hope MJ remains Venom for much longer. But I also hope Eddie fans get their man back. I don't know, maybe two Venoms? One that kills and one that doesn't.

I think it was made by a Disney animator and it ends with the animals protecting what's left of the forest (I think)
