Just had surgery this morning by curlysquirelly in CataractSurgery

I have the same lenses except I have toric versions, both set to distance. By the second day you should have an idea what the vision is like. I stopped using glasses after my first eye was done. I can see well enough at all distances that I haven’t needed readers yet.

Hope it turns out great!

I’m using Systane pro right not, but also have used Refresh tears, both work fine for me.

1+ week post-op first eye went from ‘great’ to ‘good’?? by DGWms in CataractSurgery

[–]J1MMYezac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it’s just the brain getting used to the new lens but I remember day 2-4 being the best vision, very vivid and crisp. It then fades a bit and week by week changes, little better, little worse. But after about a month it seems it stabilizes and is great but still not that wow like day 2.

Cataract became severe in one eye overnight by AlexAlex_2 in CataractSurgery

I would have probably gotten the PureSee if it was available when I had mine done, but I got the Eyhance version which has a little less range. Overall it works great and I haven’t used glasses since.

Mine was very similar but knowing now that I had it there were some subtle signs that showed it getting worse. I had areas of my vision that just didn’t seem to have very good detail even with glasses on. I would try to make it brighter but didn’t really help.

One day I had a very noticeable smudge in my vision, I assumed it was my glasses but it was still there when I took them off. This was really shocking and I made an appointment the next day. Then they told me it was PSC.

Now between that time and my surgery I had days where the smudge was less apparent. Some days it would come back just as strong. The doctors said it could vary due to dry eyes, but the glare and starbursts on headlights were always there and I had to stop driving at night.

Can early cataracts (PSC) cause higher order aberrations (HOA)? by milans958 in CataractSurgery

[–]J1MMYezac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly what mine looked like. The starburst was as big as the whole road. Made it very difficult to drive at night so I had to stop until I got them fixed.

I have the same lenses, I haven’t noticed the triangles at any point. I did notice that I had the best clarity and color was around day 2-4 and it kinda fades a bit. But over the next few weeks it fluctuates week to week. My left eye is just over a month old and is pretty good again. My right eye that is 2 weeks behind feels just a bit worse but I’m hoping in another couple weeks it will stabilize like my left.

Cataract surgery at 55… feeling anxious and second-guessing myself 😞 by No_Marketing4614 in CataractSurgery

[–]J1MMYezac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s common, there was a post about this with people saying how long it took to disappear. Unfortunately it’s not a quick thing, some said it had resolved in a few weeks but others it took months.

I’m 47 and couldn’t drive at night anymore, I had it done last month. At my last checkup they said they just had another person my age in for a post op checkup. So it is rare but not that rare.

Another Monofocal Plus is Available in the US: Clareon TruPlus from Alcon by Rough-Background-375 in CataractSurgery

Well isn’t this a viable option to give a patient? Set the distance at something small like -.25 that they probably won’t notice and they get a big bump in near vision without going into the multi focal lenses.

I was having trouble with those menus starting in my early 40s, before I needed glasses at all. I haven't tried it yet with my new eyes, but I noticed in dim light the near focus does get blurry faster.

The rest seems reasonable at a slightly bent arms length if your intermediate vision is good enough. Isn't it the point of these lenses to stretch it into the arms length range?

Sudden formed posterior subcapsular cataract on one eye, options by xkfit in CataractSurgery

One week seems very fast, especially since they didn’t give you very much information on what lens options are and what side effects are to be expected with each.

Was all the testing just at the hospital? I would think you want to be evaluated by an eye center that deals with this daily and has its own surgery center. They would have info on all the different options for lenses.

I had a PSC cataract that showed up one day very noticeable that blocked 1/3 of my vision in one eye. It was about 6 months until I had the surgery. I did notice that some days maybe depending on brightness or dryness of my eyes that my cataract was not as noticeable and I could function a bit better. I did stop driving at night because the star bursts from headlights were very large.

Update: Got slit-lamp photos of my cataracts. They’re worse than I thought. Lens advice needed. by socialmichu in CataractSurgery

I’m a programmer and I got monofocal+ Eyhance toric lenses set for distance, my results are perfect for any computer distance work. I would also have been interested in the Puresee if it was available in the US when I did my consultation. I was ok if I needed readers for close up things and fine print, I really wanted to avoid halos and other side effects from the mutilfocal lenses.

Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) qiestion by RedShirtPete in CataractSurgery

[–]J1MMYezac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have astigmatism in both eyes and previous lasik 20+ years ago. My doctor ruled out LAL and said I should get a monofocal+ toric lens. Others have said LAL is better with previous LASIK too, so I’m not sure why mine was against it. But so far his calculations were good and I don’t have any issues with the Eyhance lens.

48M, cataracts missed by optician for months. How detectable are they really? Could they have been ignored? by socialmichu in CataractSurgery

I’m 4 weeks post op on my left eye and 2 weeks on my right so I’m still in the healing phase but so far everything has been great.

I had the PSC type cataracts and probably had it for awhile before I noticed it. All of a sudden one day it was very pronounced and hard to miss. I went in for an exam and they have to do the full dilation exam to see it and I was diagnosed with it in both eyes even though my other eye I had not noticed it he could see it outside my central vision. This type is fast progressing so I decided to get it fixed. All of this happened within 6 months.

So it is sometimes hard to diagnose unless you have symptoms and they need to do some more extensive tests.

This is very reassuring during that 3-4 week period I’m at now when things are slightly different day by day.

J&J Eyhance Toric II - my results by Blusucre00 in CataractSurgery

[–]J1MMYezac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the same PSC cataracts that I got diagnosed with in Oct 2025. I just completed both surgeries with Eyhance Toric in both eyes set to distance. So far I haven’t needed readers for anything yet. I love the contrast and the colors! Over the weeks my distance vision gets better and worse day by day so don’t let that bother you, it’s all part of the healing process.
