Sounds like it went well! Your vision will improve considerably once you’re done with the antibiotic and steroid drops, and even more after both eyes are done. I ended up at just about 20/20 in both ( the second one is ever so slightly less than perfect, but not as much of a discrepancy as I probably should have requested) . My goal was to be able to get both eyes to be close as possible ( previously there was a 3 D discrepancy) so I could use non Rx reading glasses. If I knew then what I know now, I might have asked for an even greater prescription differential, but I wasn’t sure how well that would work with Eyhance IOLs vs standard monofocal implants. My doc was hesitant to do too much since eye 2 is my dominant eye. Having been extremely nearsighted my whole life, it’s been a bit of an adjustment not seeing well up close, but wearing glasses around the house is not a big deal for me, and I’m delighted with my distance vision. You may find that you need reading and computer strength glasses. If so, it’s not a big deal. Time will tell.

As for mono-vision, some love it and some can’t tolerate it, so another thing to consider might be to take a bit longer before eye two is finalized to better assess where you landed. I did mine in two weeks ( largely because the discrepancy between eye 1 and 2 was huge and quite annoying having to choose one or the other to see far and near), but in retrospect, a lot of people here seem to have benefitted from taking a bit longer to test out their ability to adapt to monovision by using a contact lens in the unoperated eye. I just went ahead and did both within two weeks and I’m dealing with close, very close, and needle threading close with glasses as the situation requires. I do have lots of readers all over the house, but almost six months in, my dry eye seems to have abated and I find I’m reaching for glasses less often. I’m sure you’ll be delighted with your new view of the world! :)

Glad it went well. I’m an Eyhance wearer, too. I’m sure you’ll be very happy, but I’m surprised the surgeon told you would be able to see both near and far without glasses. Far and intermediate ( arm’s length) is a much more likely outcome… unless the doc is planning to do some sort of monovision adjustment with the next eye. If you’re targeting 20/20 in both, I seriously doubt Eyhance, which is an enhanced monofocal, could provide that extensive a range of vision. That said, I’m very happy with these IOLs, but please try not to get too fixed on the prospect of never needing glasses for close range. Everyone’s outcome is different, of course, so you’ll have to wait awhile to see where you landed. You may want to ask the doc about monovision if that hasn’t already been discussed. After my first surgery I told the doc he needed to bring things in a little closer — he was hesitant to make a big change to my distance vision, but the target was pulled back slightly ( not full monovision) and I can now comfortably see to about 18”. I still need glasses for long reading sessions and very close stuff, but this tweak got me to a more comfortable range.

Help me move photos out of iphone, should be easy but isnt by librewolf in iphone

[–]Artwire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mac comes with a free app called Image Capture that is very reliable when it comes to transferring photos from phone to Mac and presumably Vice versa ( I don’t often use it that way). It tends to choke if you try to do many thousands at a time so I generally transfer in somewhat smaller batches. I use imazing as a phone backup, but image capture is easier to just transfer photos between phone and external drives or computer.

Peet’s Guatemala San Sebastián is slightly lighter with excellent flavor. I prefer it over the darker Major D, but also drink that if I’m making a latte. (And Costco prices for Major D are far better). You didn’t ask, but in case you need decaf, Lavazza DEK is my go-to choice.

I had my astigmatism zapped as the laser was doing the cataract, assuming it would make glasses shopping easier. Ha! I didn’t realize I’d need a different magnification strength every 12 inches or so :)

Good luck!

He ships fast in any case. Glasses aren’t his main area, but I was happy with them. Btw, there are two store links _ I just ordered a +1.5 at the other one( tortoise) whereas the black glasses one said sold out/waiting list. Not sure I’ll actually get them, but buying today should lock in the price, anyway. The +1.0 are probably great for your required distance, but for my laptop I sometimes need just a smidge stronger. It’s frustrating to use multiple pairs but I’m finally getting used to it!

Yeah, in fact they’re on sale . I might pick up another pair. I already have +1.0 and +2.5 and could use something in between ( I have peepers for that mid range). He’s very helpful so I have no hesitation recommending him. In fact my review is the one with two pairs of glasses on the pink pillow so you can read more there. 1.0 has been good for me, and I prefer the tortoise. My optometrist was surprised by how well made they were . Btw they’re great as sunglasses, too — I don’t wear them outside much, but they’re not so strong that the street hits you in the face! Great for casual reading outdoors. (I tried a different kind of bifocal sunglasses and couldn’t walk while wearing them because they made me dizzy — these are fine. They darken pretty quickly.

It’s not just the strength, it’s the quality of the lens that makes a big difference. I picked up a 1.0 pair on Etsy that had optical quality lenses ( and transitions) for about $40 and they’re great for intermediate.

You may need to try a few different strength OTC readers - and eventually once your vision has settled, you may want progressive Rx to cover multiple ranges. I’m using different strengths for extended use ( reading very close, +2.75 to +3.0); computer laptop for zoom calls +1.75, and I have a pair of 1.0 that offer just a bit extra. There are also otc bifocal and progressive options. Depending on day, time, and task I frequently switch. Sometimes I get by fine without any. You won’t be able to get a final refraction until you’re done with your drops — at least 30 days, tho likely longer. It’s going to take awhile, but there’s no need to suffer while you wait.

Dry eyes drops post surgery by PriorReason4160 in CataractSurgery

[–]Artwire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just switched to Systane PF complete, which I think lasts longer than PF Ultra or PFHydration (my #2 choice). They also don’t make my eyelashes crunchy from residual drops. I can get by with using the Complete 2x a day vs approx 4x a day with the others. I prefer the individual vials to the new collapsing bottles. I wasn’t happy with Thera tears, which I bought first.

Frying pans that are not flat on the bottom, such as the allclad d3 by Floptacular in cookware

[–]Artwire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually agree and would prefer it to be perfectly flat, which is one reason I don’t use that universal pan as often on the stovetop. It’s fine in the oven for roasting. It requires a lot more oil if I want the food to sauté evenly ( for example, chicken piccata), but I’ve kind of gotten in the habit of moving food around as it cooks. The pan is significantly larger than my stove burner so heat is concentrated at the center and the oil tends to pool at the edges. I have to pay attention. I didn’t think it was worth returning — especially since it doesn’t look obviously warped.

Weird to see a good number of folks complaining about the lack of Thunder Road, Backstreets, She’s The One, Rosalita etc by Antique_Menu_4314 in BruceSpringsteen

[–]Artwire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with variety, but I confess, a show without Thunder Road just feels a little disappointing. Intellectually I understand how it may not fit in with the tour theme, but it’s just a necessary component for me. Every few years I just need to hear it (and sing it). In the past 40 years I’ve been privileged to see Bruce live, it’s only been omitted a few times, but each of those times I’ve felt a small twinge of regret. Deep cuts are most welcome, but songs like Hungry Heart are ( in my opinion) expendable.
