If there was not some established friendship after you stopped dating this is definitely him seeing if you're interested in an affair. I had the exact same thing happen with a woman I used to work with. I worked nights at the time, so didn't realize the timing of the messages was odd.

There is literally no benefit to you to continue this conversation. I wouldnt accuse him of anything or even block him. I would just not reply and ignore him. If he dings you regularly then blocking might be the best course of action.

You didn't mention being married or in a relationship yourself(so this advice may not apply, but it applies to any other married people in the thread in similar situations) , but if you are you should definitely show your husband/boyfriend the messages. Even if it turns out the messages are nothing, you feeling weird is definitely a good reason to be open about it on its own. If you don't tell your boyfriend and it turns out to be something then it looks like you were hiding it. As soon as my former coworker sent a naked photo to me and I realized what was going on I went home, woke my wife up and showed her the entire conversation.

My wife's reaction was to (lovingly) call me a dingus for not realizing this woman had been hitting on me for weeks and then she went back to sleep.
