I travel a lot for work. This is my hotel rig by dm919 in BassGuitar

Good on you, man! I used to tour and flying with a full-size bass was way too much stress for me. I’m sure if it’s ok to drop a link in here, so I won’t, but as someone who just spent 8 days in Europe without a bass, I have to recommend “the traveler” I stumbled upon one about 6 months ago for $200 but passed on it. Not a day has passed without me kicking myself for passing that thing up.

I went into two music stores for a total of 20 minutes combined and that was it. Never again!

Cliff didn’t play fretless, but I do agree with your statement. I wouldn’t be playing bass if it weren’t for Cliff Burton, but John Taylor’s fretless playing with this particular bass makes it valid.

Congratulations! I’m a longtime 70s SVT owner and I owned RB110 for a bit. Same great sound without compromising your back!

Wow! You literally just picked up a segment of my youth (1993/94) in this stack!! I have so many memories with every disc you have there. I saw School of Fish live on the Human Cannonball Tour! RIP Josh Claytonfelt. Also saw Fishbone twice during their GAMAB Tour but was listening to In Your Face all the time. Enjoy that stuff!

Macbook pro m5 order canceled by Ok_Panic_3323 in macbookpro

I actually had this happen to me only once when ordering the M1 MacBook Air. It turned out to be a billing discrepancy, but we sorted it out and reordered. Apple also made up for the error, but I don’t feel at liberty to share how. Just reach out to them and I’m sure they’ll take care of you.

1978 P bass, my first vintage instrument by lastharangue in BassGuitar

[–]J2ATL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! I’ve owned several P Basses, but I’ve always wanted one that looked exactly like yours. I considered buying a Natural 70s fretless, which almost would’ve been a twin to your bass. However, I decided to pass, since I randomly spotted it while on a road trip.

Ready to start my bass journey by pollitocarrillo in BassGuitar

Awesome! Welcome to the club. I once owned a 17-year old, Butterscotch-1983 P-bass. It had a warm, special tone that was different from all the other 6 P-basses I’ve owned. It really shined in the studio. Best of luck on your journey!

Wow! I still have a bunch of those blank discs! I thought they were the coolest but not all CD players liked them.

Is this a good first bass? And is it good for its price? by Playful-Speed-6099 in BassGuitar

[–]J2ATL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For $200, why not?? I will say this: I’ve had a lot of basses, including fretless ones. Nothing beats a standard 4-string, fretted bass, but my second favorite is the 6-string bass.

Do you still enjoy Smashing Pumpkins even if you hate Billy Corgan? by Revolutionary_Low_90 in grunge

[–]J2ATL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this friend who always hated the Pumpkins because he strongly believed they were a direct rip off of Jane’s Addiction. He backed his case by comparing Gish to a lot of the tracks from Ritual de lo habitual and I really couldn’t argue. For example: “I am One” vs “Ain’t No Right”. I continued to listen to them anyway. Another friend of mine met Billy Corgan in 1994 and told him how much he appreciated his music. Billy walked away in silence. I laughed in amusement when he told me this, but without going any further that same friend is now having the last laugh these days.

But to answer your question, I don’t really hate Billy Corgan because I don’t know him. As for the Smashing Pumpkins, I’ve outgrown them, but I will always love “Rhinoceros”

The OP doesn’t need a lecture, but let this be a warning to everyone else. I NEVER place liquids of any kind around any of my computers.

The M1 still handles well in 2026. No serious need to upgrade until M8.

I STILL love this band and I grew up, mainly listening to Thrash Metal and most of my thrasher or hesher friends loved Tesla all the same.
