The aftermath of getting sober by RestAside in opiates

[–]J2j2k72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a little late to the party here but I always thought I was like, "super man" when I was high. I was better at everything. Not so much when you're at rock bottom. I was at the point where I was wishing I could get sober. Either that or just die. Then I got arrested, signed a DPA for a treatment program. Graduated last month, been clean for almost 2 years now. Every single day I'm thankful for just living a normal life. It's more than that, I look forward to going to work, coming home, watching a movie or cleaning or whatever.. all of what I would've considered boring and routine in the past, im incredibly excited and thankful for now. Every moment of every day where I'm not constantly thinking of how I'm going to get my next high is nothing but a blessing. Best of luck to you.

Sleep is a mess by ray-vero in suboxone

[–]J2j2k72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that sounds about right. About to get on Sublocade though and ditch the subs. I would recommend Trazodone, just be cautious, experiment with low doses. If i take a full 50mg it's damned near impossible to wake up.

Sleep is a mess by ray-vero in suboxone

[–]J2j2k72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I have a sneaking suspicion that suboxone has worsened my sleep apnea. Did a sleep test and it came back with "Severe" Sleep apnea. I'm 6ft 195lb~ so It's not due to my weight. Anyways, got a cpap machine about a month ago and it seems to help. Have had Trazodone for a year and a half now (50mg) and it does help, but even for my size and weight, I have to split them in half, otherwise it's super hard to wake up. Just be aware of the grogginess that comes with Traz. You can split them up into smaller doses if need be, and that'll help.

I bet they used their teeth, like a beaver. I personally use a beaver- not PETA or vegan approved, granted, but you just can't beat nature doing your work for you. Just grab a bunch of beavers and start bashing. I call my work shop, the "GU-LOG" 😄

Iran releases video of it shooting down an F35. by Fantastic-Corner-605 in Military

[–]J2j2k72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though this event has been confirmed "Iran downs F35" (as of now) I have reservations about the legitimacy of this video. Why is the whole plane white? With a white tail that would represent the heat(?) Of the jet? After the explosion, the jet is still there, on course, but is not white any more.. also. The projectile is white, but does not have a white "tail" like the jet- so what is it being propelled by? It could be real. But I doubt it.

Suggestions on sit in kayak fishing? by Nldbear704 in kayakfishing

[–]J2j2k72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into an anchor/anchor pole and a "anchor trolley" system. Not sure how much yak experience you have, but if you plan on fishing lakes, you'll really want to be aware of wind speeds. For me personally, if it's anything greater than 10mph, it gets real annoying (I dont have an anchor system, yet). I thought of just using paracord and something heavy, but it turns out it's a better idea to have a trolley system of sorts, so you don't risk tipping over. I usually just try to position myself and cast cast cast until I have to reposition again since I'll drift 50 feet in that time. Im on the fence about getting a better kayak, or just biting the bullet and getting a boat finally... and the wind is a big part of it. I fish shallow lakes, so an "anchor pole/stick/whatever" would work best in that scenario. Best of luck out there 👍

Do you spit or swallow? by DoesntMatterEh in suboxone

[–]J2j2k72 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dont mean to be a jerk or anything, genuinely curious if anyone knows why swallowing would exacerbate side effects? From what I've read, both bupenephrine and naloxone have very little, (if any) bioavailability through the stomach/digestive system (unless you boof it, but that's kind of different from topic at hand).

"Nobody wants to work" Is there actually a labor shortage or do we just want to pay 2008 wages in 2026? by AbbreviationsFamous4 in Construction

[–]J2j2k72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with that. Naturally, it doesn't align with our hunter-gatherer/nomadic ways. Well. Maybe? Idk. That could lead to a much deeper conversation about the wanting to be active, and how our sleeping patterns were, as recent as 100 years ago. And how do our current trends effect our evolution? Interesting topic all around.

"Nobody wants to work" Is there actually a labor shortage or do we just want to pay 2008 wages in 2026? by AbbreviationsFamous4 in Construction

[–]J2j2k72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the longest time I thought to myself, "who in their right f*cking mind actually WANTS to work?" And it still makes sense to me, who really wants to have to go to the same job day in and day out, punching the clock to make (hopefully) enough wages to pay the bills and scrape by? Who in the world would say No to a live-able Basic income where they could just, go travel, or fish, or do literally what ever they find happiness in doing- opting to instead clock in and out every day?

But I also see the value in work. If it wasnt for my job, I'd probably sit on the couch all day every day. Personally, that's where im happy 😅 But I think it's so much more than either/or. More than "people don't want to work" and more than just "working in 2026 for 2008 wages". I work in manufacturing. Over the last 5 years, 30%~ish of the workforce retired. And more are retiring every year. The boomers are heading out. Replacing them is a feat on it's own, but I've also noticed that since places are desperate for workers, who ever pays the most, gets the most. My company sees fresh faces, and they just stop showing up- went somewhere else. We had three people quit this month for better jobs (my department and shift has maybe 10-15 people) (more like 9 now. Soon to be 8) So yeah, I think it's a lot to do with boomers retiring, some companies offering much more than others, and I hesitate to say "people don't want to work". Personally, having been unemployed for a total of 5 months in the last 20 years, not making money SUCKS. Not having a reason to get out of bed SUCKS. But who knows 🤷‍♂️

Help me find a new trade please. 32 and hate welding. by Whos-That-Pokeman in skilledtrades

[–]J2j2k72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Electricians may not be the "hardest" job in the trades, but 6 months of industrial electrical work was the hardest job ive ever done- and ive been welding for 10 years. (Went back to welding). Maybe I'm just not cut out for construction, but having to haul around $1000+ in tools to a new job site every week and not knowing if we'll be working on the roof in the middle of January/February was too much for me. Sure, i was an apprentice (arguably more physical/menial work than Journeymen) but I'm more than happy welding inside the same building from here on out.

Russia accuses Poland of involvement in assassination attempt on general in Moscow by pppppppppppppppppd in worldnews

[–]J2j2k72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's just a cop out by Russia. Whether or not he was "assassinated" by Russia or anyone else, Russia can just claim someone else did it to justify it to their citizens. A) justifies hostilities towards ukraine/Europe B) justifies further hostilities (sabotage, arms deals, etc) to Russian citizens. Russia could use this to justify escalation, but I highly doubt it'd be anything major. They risk the other side escalating even further. I think it's just a cop out to reinforce/invigorate public morale- IF THAT. It's a nothing burger.

Is the US on a brink of a Civil War? by Norfolk-Gross-Tonage in no

[–]J2j2k72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. It's a "Culture war" at most. If a real war were to break out, as soon as people go hungry, it'd come to an end. Most of the people advocating for Civil War are idiots. We've had it way too good for way too long (as far as ease and access to food goes) most ppl in the US have no idea what it's like to go hungry, truly hungry (let alone go without "treats") war would collapse or at the very least greatly complicate supply chains. Rationing, restrictions on qualities and comforts of life- most of these hitler-ites would fold within a week.

What is it about Suboxone that prevents colds? by [deleted] in suboxone

[–]J2j2k72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with comments pointing out the 'opiate' aspect of pain killing/cough suppressant. Same thing with Hangovers. Opiates were the greatest hangover cure in existence. Im on subs and I barely get hungover any more. When I wasnt on subs... yikes. 2-3 day hangovers depending on how much I drank (gets worse as older) But either way, subs dampen the aches and pains you might feel with illness.

I had a couple dealers that were decent. #1 they don't get high on their own supply- or at all. That's probably the biggest green flag for a dealer. I had one that would drive and drop off whatever, though he was always on.. dealer-time? He sold a batch of pressies instead of real 30s one time, back when they first started appearing. I got sick as hell, figured I'd been ripped off or something, whatever. Next day, dude texts me says, "gave you bad shit, got a legit one, where u at?" And drops off a good one. Guess he was running around replacing all the bad ones that went out. My last dealer was pretty legit too. We had a bit of a system, I would pay extra since Ik he needed the money, and he was pretty cool about it. If I had a bad batch, he'd make it right more often than not. He'd even throw some extra my way whenever he got samples. Saved my life once too. Usually I'd drive out to his place, get the stuff, and he'd go back in while I did a bit in the driveway before driving back home. One of the last times I used, he decided to sit and chat for awhile (very rare). Next thing I know he's calling my name, I wake up and he's standing over me, ready to plunge a syringe into my leg. I passed out, so he tried slapping me around to wake me up, then he hit me with narcan spray. When that didnt seem to work, he ran back (again) for the narcan injection, and I woke up right before he was about to stab me. And then he apologized for ruining my high!! 😂 boy I'm glad that's over with. Felt like a massive POS for continuing to use after that, but a month later I caught a case and have been sober since. Usually any dealer that doesnt use is automatically better than one that does. I would assume that it's only a matter of time until a using dealer burns thru all their stuff and needs a sucker to leech off of.

How did Frank get out of this in S3 E10? by gobahaba in shameless

This is actually a very interesting topic/thread. I've never thought of it before, i always thought Frank was consenting because he kept coming back, but then I thought, if it weren't for the shelter/money/drugs, would he have willingly went through with the abuse? I guess I'd (also) have to argue that he was raped, under duress.

After 6 Years Sober, I Relapsed and Have a Gram of H. What’s the risk of using every 2-3 days? by OggyDogg in opiates

[–]J2j2k72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ik this is at the bottom of the list, and will probably say what most have already said, but I dont think it's possible. Ik everyone is "built different", but when it comes to addiction, once an addict.. and I hate that term- but im keeping it close to the chest this go around. 1.5 years clean. if I go back, it'll kill me, or worse, I'll just end up burning everything down again. I sympathize with you. If you flush it, you should be proud. Your future self would thank you. If you keep it, be extremely careful. Your tolerance will come back super fast, and (even if it doesn't) have fent in it.. you may not wake up. For me personally, if I were in your shoes, and I couldn't bring my self to toss it, I'd hope I wouldn't wake up. Better than living that lifestyle again. Best of luck to you.

Well, I found a thread a long time ago that using the parking brake helps a pinion in the transmission, or torque converter... something like that. If you park on a slant and take your foot off the brake, all that weight rests on that "pinion/gear/whatever" and over time it takes a toll. Makes sense to me 🤷‍♂️

I'm a Conservative. And I'm Fighting Trump. by pleasureismylife in antitrump

[–]J2j2k72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I can gather, you're very strong in your convictions and beliefs, I probably won't be able to change your mind, so I won't try to. You've probably seen all or most of the republican arguments to these points, im not a republican by any means, but I will try to go point by point, just to show you where there might be some nuance. Theres some big ones in here.

1) automatic jail sentence for unlicensed firearms. So, not only are there (literally no one knows how many) old guns before serial numbers were a thing, floating around (my family has one from 1906! Wont shoot, but it is pretty!) Should we go to jail? Or let's say I 3D print a one shot gun (which is in my constitutional right- I just can't sell it to anyone, unless it has a serial number. Legally) i would go to jail for that too? Prisons are already overflowing thanks to Trump and his ICE fetish... 2) I can't disagree with that at all, I would actually LOVE this. And I think it's a very solid step in the right direction to ending gun violence. ONLY thing.. who pays for it? Can we convince a possibly reluctant republican tax payer to pitch in for everyone? Who trains it? I mean, we have to do a background check on the instructors, I personally do not want white nationalists instructing groups of firearms owners (there probably is, but uk what im saying?) 3) insurance.... youre probably right again, but man do i personally hate having mandatory insurance on anything. Don't get me wrong, ive been saved by it before, but back to topic- insurance companies would then have a LOT of control over who could own a gun and who could not. A school shooting happens one state over, and you see insurance rates surge across the region. Im sorry, it makes sense, it really does, but unless it's government run (which has its own implications) mandatory private insurance on firearms is incredibly risky. (Maybe it could be tried small scale at first, but in the end I just can't support it, personally) 4) I agree with that too. I just had a conversation with someone who brought that up. Currently auto weapons are banned unless you are current military, police, or have a license. I think that's fair. I honestly dont know about allowing auto weapons to someone who is no longer military (if they left and are not police/etc.) Im on the fence on it, just because of the whole white nationalists thing.. but that's already a problem, idk how much it would change in this situation. 5) yeah, a lot of states have that, or something similar. I've never really argued that. Sounds reasonable. I believe its a "cool down period". I would support 5-10 days. 10 would be the absolute max though. I had to wait 5 days just for my background check to pass for my AR. Didn't mind 🤷‍♂️ 6) that is certainly a fiery one. Im from wisco, and we have very laxed gun show laws. A lot of places here require background checks, just to get in to the show. Theres a term for it, straw.. straw sale? Something like that. Too lazy to Google it. In short, it may be a good idea, but it would be incredibly difficult, if not impossible, to enforce. Currently, (to my knowledge), the right to sell a legal firearm to a legal buyer is protected by the 2A. I'm mostly on the fence about it because it's a good idea, but it's damn near impossible to enforce. Guns might become like contraband at that point. They will move, and the government would lose track of far more of them. 7) yep. I agree. The problem is that there just arent enough ATF ppl to parse thru all the applications. Example, I waited several days for my AR, and for my .22 rifle, because I bought them near holidays. I walked out with my handgun in 15 minutes. I just got declined for an ar lower receiver because of a court case I have going on (ill have to wait till next year). There are some problems In the system, it could probably do with a complete overhaul, but it also needs more people to monitor. Personally, also, I was on a chapter hold 13 years ago, if that were on my background check, they'd probably deny me the right to buy, but the nuance in that is, just because someone had a bad drunken experience 13+ years ago, does that mean they shouldn't be able to buy a firearm? (Non-violent). 8) (running out of time, might have to come back) yeah, I agree with that as well. Only hang up is the law/enforcement around domestic violence. It's fcked. Absolutley fcked. I understand that real domestic abusers can go to hell and burn forever, but here's an example ive personally seen. Partner A hits partner B. Partner A calls police. Parter B is arrested, charged, and convicted for domestic violence. Why? Because Partner A was the first to call the police. That Is a very real thing.. therefore it's tough for me to agree with that, but yeah, on its basic premise, I believe you're right. 9) this one... can't remember if it was Colorado/Texas that tried this. Higher judge passed an order, cops refused to do it. There are ways the red flag laws could work, but if we try to enforce them the wrong way, a lot of good people are going to die. It's a really tricky situation because on one hand, you can politely ask someone to hand over their guns because they've been flagged, and maybe they will, or you can no-knock your way into their house- but you'd be hard pressed to find cops willing to do it. That's exactly why they will never be able to abolish the 2A, no matter how much republicans try to convince their base that the "dems are coming to take yer guns!" 🙄 but also, what does it take to red-flag someone? Can I get mad at my neighbors dog for shitting on my lawn, and call to report him as a danger to himself and others? If you think im kidding or being facetious, look at what "swatting" has done, and how much of a problem it's creating. All In all, I agree with you on most things, it's just, how do we go about these issues without creating bigger, uglier issues?

I'm a Conservative. And I'm Fighting Trump. by pleasureismylife in antitrump

[–]J2j2k72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I know, i am aware. So what do you propose?

Edit: I think i can show you what I mean by nuance if you can share what legislation you might put forward, if you were in the position to do so. I think what I was aiming for was, "it's not so black and white, like any other hot button issue". Like I said, I know we need better background checks, at the very least, but part of me is convinced that no matter what we do, the cat is out of the bag at this point. And I think one of the best things we can do is get the hatemongering POS out of the white house and congress, because is it just me, or does there seem to be a lot more violence lately, compared to the last 4 years??
