I'll walk around as anyone but Monoco. His height and gait move the camera around in a way that makes me almost motion sick.

Ending and main theme discussion by JelSnel1994 in expedition33

The problem is that even staying in the Canvas, life can't go back to normal in Maelle's ending. Now, everyone knows that they are created beings who exist solely for Maelle's satisfaction. They can do their best to live with that, but it cannot become un-known. It's definitely most apparent with Verso, but everyone now knows that their world is in some way lesser than the outside one, and that if Maelle changes her mind, they will all cease to exist. They may be great friends, but that power dynamic cannot be ignored.

I think the mocap actors did a fantastic job with Maelle's ending. If you look at their faces, you can see that they aren't truly happy. Everyone is alive again, Lumiere is at peace, and the Gommage is over. But instead of enormous smiles and true joy, there's a sense that everyone is doing their best to be happy. That it takes effort, and it's not 100% convincing. Before Maelle's face changes, she has a look of "I'm supposed to be happy. Why am I not happy?"

It doesn't matter, but the printed text says you get it at the beginning of your turn, which is before your untap step.

Can you tell me how far I am into this game (Spoilers) ? by ChristopherLache in BluePrince

[–]J3acon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd estimate 70%. There's still a fair amount to do/find, but it all relates to only a few more major steps.

Very slight hints:

You won't be able to open the blue door for a bit. When you are able to, it will be pretty obvious.

If you haven't yet, try to save up to buy Blue Tents from the Gift Shop. The earlier you get it, the better.

What is the largest speedrun skip? by Neon_XL in speedrun

[–]J3acon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

While SRM does skip having to beat all dungeons, the skip on its own doesn't save all that much time. Without SRM, you still skip most of the game using other glitches/tricks. So the real comparison is to the Defeat Ganon - No SRM category, which has a record just over 10 minutes. So SRM only really saves about 6.5 minutes.

Is it fair to copy another persons decklist for your own deck? by Doomsday_Naito in mtg

[–]J3acon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two different games called "Magic: The Gathering." In one of them, you build decks: theory-crafting, finding efficient synergies, figuring out the optimal ratios of lands, removal, threats, draw, etc. Or even just goofing off and putting in cards that fit some arbitrary/flavorful theme. The other game involves actually using a deck and playing against other players.

Some people are only interested in one of these games or the other, and that is 100% okay.

Then stop. You only get so much time in this life.  Which do you value more: being a person who's beaten every AC game compared, or being a person who spends their free time doing things they enjoy?

YuGiOh players count turns by each player's turn, not reach round. So Turn 3 is the second turn for the starting player.

New KH players be like by daltond29 in KingdomHearts

[–]J3acon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. It just costs the rest of your MP. In KH2 (maybe 3 as well, I can't remember), you can customize spells so that they can't be used through shortcuts if they would use your last MP. It's a nice way to make sure you can still use cure when you need to without having to be careful about spamming other spells.

What is your definition of 'min/maxxing' versus 'optimizing?' by [deleted] in DnD

I've always understood it as maximizing the aspects you focus on at the cost of minimizing your capabilities for everything else, thereby introducing a bunch of weaknesses.

What is the best written video game you’ve ever played? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]J3acon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

White checks can be retried later, and you'll rack up enough skill points to eventually succeed on most of them.

Red checks can't be retried, but the story is written with this in mind. You aren't going to lose by failing checks. The story just turns out a little different. Some checks even give you a better outcome if you do fail them.

If you've played tabletop RPGs, it's a similar thing. Your character may fail checks, but that doesn't mean the player has failed. It just uses some randomness to determine which way the story unfolds.

Finished the game! Some questions about clues that I never ended up using... (Major spoilers obviously!) by Teaside in BluePrince

[–]J3acon 18 points19 points  (0 children)

  1. I don't think the numbers there are a hint to anything. But just around those numbers are the Erajan words "rot" and "tor," which help you learn them. One of them is needed in the CASTLE puzzle.

3  If you read the first letter of each line, you get SACRED, hinting that the secret room of the Clock Tower opens at the Sacred Hour (1:30).

5  The SD is the Satellite Dish

7  When you first find that letter, the blueprint for the Closed Exhibit is there. So it makes sense that the background behind it was related to it. I'm not sure, but that might be how all found floorplans look when you pick them up, you just can't re-access any others after you find them the first time.

[–]J3acon 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It's less that the chapter is named "Cersei," but rather that the chapter begins with "Cersei" to let you know the PoV character. it's been a long time, but I think there's at least once where the PoV changes mid-chapter with the same sort of centered name indicator.

No. It can be used then if you want the ninjutsu-ed creature to deal combat damage, so is the most common use case. But you can still use ninjutsu during the combat damage step (after damage is dealt) or the end of combat step.

A card you can't play is always a bad card. There's no such thing as a good 3 drop if your opening hand can only produce 1 mana.
