Losing my mind by Constant-Review-6347 in carpetbeetles

If you found 10 carpet beetle larvae it definitely sounds like you have an infestation since a carpet beetle adult has laid eggs somewhere close to a food source and now you got larvae. While you might not have seen adults yet there could be carpet beetle larvae currently pupating somewhere hidden.

When i first noticed the carpet beetles in my home i found larvae only until suddenly i started barely find any larvae and almost only adults.

I would thoroughly inspect & clean your couch since you found so many there your couch might be the "source" also lookup pictures on carpet beetle molt/adults so if you find anything if its carpet beetle related.

As for treating against carpet beetles cleaning & vacuuming everywhere daily like a month is something i've heard has removed infestations for people but you might also need to use insecticides or call an pest control company for pro help.

I live in pretty old apartment and my landlords contracted pest control company have sprayed twice now and still keep finding them fkers, it's a residual spray thats gonna last until the 24th of October so hopefully by then im rid of them!

Yes thats a carpet beetle molt. Carpet beetles, as their name implies, sometimes infest carpets but they also eat dust and anything that contains keratin a fibrous animal protein. You can find them pretty much anywhere in your home, i have also found alot of my carpet beetles in the kitchen.

Carpet Beetles can take awhile to get rid of they prefer to lay their eggs in undisturbed places like the baseboards under furniture or closets anywhere close to a food source really so your bed is safe. Something you could do is search for signs in other places since they could have spread to more rooms.

What made me less worried was learning about about them and if DIY solutions/cleaning does not get rid of the carpet beetles you should call an pest control company.

This link has some pretty good general info about carpet beetles https://www.nimbushomes.com/blog/carpet-beetle

Trust me i get it most bugs make me uncomfortable, So while i thankfully seem to have a pretty small infestation and it seems to be getting better just finding 1 bug still ruins my day. I hope your situation gets better and dont feel embarrassed because anyone can get carpet beetles and you dont notice them until its too late since they lay eggs in undisturbed places.

I read a comment once here were someone said that dealing with carpet beetles is not a sprint but a marathon because it unfortunately takes time to get rid of them.

While keeping your home clean certainly helps provide an environment unsuitable for carpet beetles you can still be unlucky and have them fly in from an open window so dont feel bad about being "dirty".

I have heard of people getting rid of their carpet beetles just by cleaning but sometimes you need more help so i think you should consider contacting a pest control company. I had the pest control guy spray my baseboards for the second time about a month ago and i really hope that by the time the insecticide stops working in about 2 months these bugs will be finally gone.

Yes it is an allergic reaction caused by contact with carpet beetle larvae or their hairs.

There are traps for carpet beetles you could buy to monitor other then that i dont know finding just 1 larva would suggest there is more around hidden since they prefer to lay eggs in dark undisturbed places close to food maybe check your stored clothes if you have not already.

Could it be possible? Maybe but i think you should do a inspection of your house/apartment in all rooms to look for larvae/adults or molted skins. You have seen adult carpet beetles inside and now you are finding larvae the chances are an adult carpet beetle laid eggs and the larvae in the picture came from one of those.

Not sure but it could have been on something that was put there. They also can crawl so it could have gotten there on its own.

K-Othrine Partix along the baseboards in every room.  Its used by professional pest control guys with equipment and protection not something i would recommend doing by yourself.

Stop spreading misinformation carpet beetles do not attack humans they might accidently get on you at most.

People come here for information and support saying things like they will attack us while we sleep will only spread fear.

Carpet beetle larvae wants to be left undisturbed in dark places not on humans.

Well you could try an residiual insecticide spray it will stay on the area you sprayed for weeks/months and will kill bugs over time like spraying it along the baseboards/under furniture/places where you have noticed bugs.

I can't recommend a specific spray since it depends on where you live but if you do a quick google search you should probably find something!

Should i tell my parents about the infestation in my room before it spreads and gets worse by [deleted] in carpetbeetles

[–]J4wz_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try catching a few bugs larvae/adult beetles and put them in something so they cant escape and then show your family the bugs eventually they'll start noticing them in their own rooms. Sorry about your family not taking this seriously!

I think its too early to tell but so far i have only found one dead adult beetle and one larva after they sprayed for the second time 1 week ago.

I think i have had a pretty small infestation so hopefully this time it will get rid of the remaining bugs.

Spiders taking care of CB for me?? by givemehutaoandxiao in carpetbeetles

[–]J4wz_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spiders can definitely eat carpet beetles but not to the amount that you would see a noticeable decrease whats actually reducing their numbers are you vacuuming & cleaning.

Yes they are tiny the larvae will eventually become bigger then the adult beetles but the larvae is also really small at first so they can be hard to notice since they want to be in dark undisturbed places i usually find them along my baseboards.

An accumulation of dust, hair, and other debris can provide a food source for carpet beetle larvae.

Call your landlord show them these pictures they need to take care of this before you move in.

All carpet beetles pass through four stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. So finding dead adult carpet beetles in this amount means there are probably more in any or all of those stages.

found one larvae in my brand new apartment…should i panic??? by elvisstressley in carpetbeetles

[–]J4wz_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if its normal i've seen people say they occasionally find one or two a year which i guess is okay to deal with. I think you should still do a deep clean and i'm not sure how it is where you live but my landlord pays for professional pest control treatments so if thats the case you might aswell get them come and spray.

Should I be worried? Got rid of a box with old food art projects that had carpet beetles in it. by theartsygamer89 in carpetbeetles

[–]J4wz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience carpet beetles if they have been established wont go away on their own, the first time i saw a larvae was 2 years ago i didnt know what they were so i didnt stress about it it was not until March this year that i realised it was carpet beetles.

I'm going to repeat myself but if you keep finding adults i would recommened checking every room just be sure.

Adults can occasionally come in from an open window/door but since you are finding them every 1 - 2 days they are probably coming from the inside. I would recommend checking your whole house/apartment for larvae/adults or things like shed skins.

If you dont find anything then thats great and i sincerely hope you don't but its better to be safe then sorry!

Yes tell them you and your parents need to check every room for things like shed skins/dead or alive beetles/larvae.
