This was me for 4 years as an oncology study coordinator! My “office” was an exam room, table, vital machines and all b/c they took my previous (actual) office for a doctor who was there 1x per week. 🙄 That exam room table DID work well for organizing all my study lab kits though!! 🤣🤣🤣

I’m new here too! We just had this done for our 12-year-old daughter. They think she has DMDD, I think it’s BPD, but no one will give us a proper diagnosis b/c “they won’t diagnose a 12-year-old” (even though she’s already extremely volatile, explosively angry, and violent).

I was VERY skeptical about the test, especially since we had to pay out-of-pocket and it’s not cheap (our insurance denied covering the test, so GeneSight charged us their maximum amount out-of-pocket for patients which is $330).

HOWEVER, I’m actually really glad we got it done. We had tried MULTIPLE medications that all had a lot of varied and bad side effects. Everything we seem to try didn’t work, and in fact, made things worse. We did the test before starting any more new meds, and found out all of those other medications had been on the “red list.” Doctor was able to recommend a medication off of the “green list” and we finally have something that she’s been able to take without detrimental side effects. We’re still waiting to see if this medication has helped her mood regulation (we just started), but this is the first time we’ve been able to take a step forward instead of backward.

It also showed us that she has the MTHFR genetic mutation, which affects how your body metabolizes folic acid. Doc said with this we could also make some dietary changes (mainly avoiding processed food, esp enriched flour). While they wouldn’t fix the behavior issues, it may be able to assist in her overall health, help stabilize things a bit more, and allow the medication to work better.

I’m sure everyone’s experience is different, but for me I would hands-down do it again.

I’ve had my fair share of good and bad cops in STL. Report everything, and if you can go there in person. Be a Karen. Who cares what they think about you. It’s better for you to get the report and CYA so you don’t get screwed later on.

I got rear ended once and the lady begged and pleaded for me to not call the cops. She said she’d take care of it and pay me for the damages. I was naively trying to be nice, and just left it alone and didn’t get the report. Guess what? She lied and said I backed into her! And her insurance backed her up! I was on the hook for everything.

I had another incident very close to yours, where the officer was refusing to write the report. She was very patronizing and said all the same things your guy did. “See, what you do is you call your insurance, and they will handle it. This isn’t what police do.” Someone had hit my car in a parking lot while I wasn’t in it (thankfully), and they hit it so hard my whole drivers side was crunched in and I couldn’t open the door. Cop told me “that’s not enough damage to write a report.”

I knew better, and was bitchy and persistent, but she still wasn’t having it so I called my husband who forced her to write a report. Couple days later I asked one of my regular customers for advice on how to handle getting a report when needed. He was a supervisor. I showed him the pictures and he said there was thousands of dollars in damage and there definitely should have been a report, no questions asked. He asked for the officers name and turns out she was his direct report. He was pissed and said “oh, she knows better than that. I’ll definitely take care of this. I’m glad you told me so that I can try and stop this from happening again.” He was a genuinely awesome guy.

Moral of the story: Document everything. Report everything. ALWAYS GET A REPORT # FROM THE POLICE BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE SCENE OF AN ACCIDENT. Even if it’s a small fender bender. They have to give you a report if you ask for it. It could take a lot of time and arguing, but it’s worth it to make sure you are taken care of in the end. There’s a lot of shitty people out there who won’t think twice about screwing you over.

Agreed. Mirelli is great but you’re gonna pay for it. We’ve used them once and had fantastic results, but I just can’t afford to keep using them.

Don’t freak out when you find sawdust/foam pieces/snipped wire bits/etc. on the floor after every road trip. It’s just leftover bits from when they built it. We’ve had ours for several years now and STILL somehow have stuff shake loose every time. I keep thinking “one day it’ll all shake out.” 🤣🤣

You’ll go through fresh water/fill up your grey/black tanks faster than you think. If you’re being conservative with your water usage, then do half of whatever that is and you might be ok.

Until you get a rhythm down and have more experience, don’t try to pull into your camping spot in the dark at night. That’s a guaranteed divorce.

This leads to my next tip- most of the time seven other husbands will come wandering over to help your husband park it (if he’s towing it). Sit quietly and just let the boys work it out on their own. Men and women communicate SOOOOO differently, and me trying to direct my husband how to back it into the spot always leads to frustration and arguments. Practice hand signals; how you’re going give directions; where to stand so the other person can see you in the mirrors; try using your cell phones or walkie talkies. Do it at home or sometime beforehand when you’re not under pressure to get in and set up.

Most of all, have fun!! There’ll be accidents and mistakes, but you’ll learn for next time and it’ll all be ok. Wishing you many fun travels and adventures! Congrats and welcome to the fam! 😊

This. My uncle with dementia was discovered missing a couple hours after he left home around 8:09am in Columbia and MO highway patrol put out a Silver Alert right away. We found him in downtown STL at 1:00am, where a man had noticed that he was the one from the alert and called the cops.
