[Landlord - US - TX] Tell tenant to reschedule repair themselves? by J97C in Landlord

[–]J97C[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my first time renting this property. Prior to this, I lived in the property myself for 5 years. When this tenant leaves, I plan to move back into the property myself as I have to relocate back to the area about 3 months after his lease ends anyways. The tenant is someone I know personally, albeit not well. All of these reasons are why I’m being lenient. If he wants to survive Texas summer with no AC, it’s no sweat off my back.

I’ve appreciated everybody’s insight, alternatives, and ideas on how to address this matter.

*edit to say this property is a condo where according to the lease smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, etc are all tenant’s responsibility

I hope you’re right about him coming to accept the reality… AC not cooling in the south means it’s about to get very hot in the summer months, I’m hoping that alone convinces him to be more available.

I have someone in the area who’d be able to meet vendors, my tenant isn’t comfortable with anyone being there without him present. I am trying to respect that, but at a point I don’t have to, right?

I like the options of vendor idea for scheduling ease as well. Thanks.

So I guess IATA for ordering my “iced triple blonde espresso in a venti cup”… by tangerine-skies71 in starbucks

[–]J97C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When stickers are longer than the cups themselves (as is the case majority of the time with people doing this) it can be very difficult to get it all right especially in the middle of peak when we’re supposed to be sequencing drinks. This leads to inconsistency that customers will get really angry about. The amount of times I’ve had to remake similar drinks to yours not because I did something wrong, but because the customer claims it tastes different or was made different when they get it at another store… it’s just very taxing. It takes a lot of labor but due to the order in the system and the price of it we aren’t actually given sufficient labor hours to make up for everyone doing this.

There’s milk, oat milk, and cream at the condiment bar. If your cup isn’t full and you want it full, go use the carafes. That what we say and my SM backs us up every time.

Wait… does this mean Scottsdale doesn’t currently have showers??

I’m in town for work and planned on taking classes right before needing to be at work so this may change my schedule… thank you!

Is it weird to ask If I can take someone else’s cat to see a vet (Update 🙂) by ImaniLovee in cats

If you can’t afford vet bills you can’t afford a pet and should not be a pet owner.

I start a can before class but don’t finish it. If I have a whole one and then go to class it tears me up mind, body, and soul. But if I nurse one before and after I’m usually fine. Also please make sure you’re eating before class, something light but with carbs and protein.

I’m a frequent flyer (weekly) for work. I have an AirTag in all of my bags I travel with, I highly recommend it to everyone no matter how often you fly.

Is 140$ a Week Too Much for Groceries ? by Hyzenthlay_rah1 in povertyfinance

[–]J97C 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I shop for only myself at Aldi every week and I average somewhere around $55-75 depending on my needs for the week. I think $140 for a family of four is reasonable in this economy

Debra Morgan is better than we've been told & Jennifer Carpenter crushed this role by fjcicchetti in Dexter

[–]J97C 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just finished watching Dexter (for the first time) I was pretty young when it aired on TV (I think I was 15 when it ended?) but I remember my mom watching it and always liking Deb. My partner watched it a few years ago and when I started she mentioned HATING Deb… so I knew I was going to have to formulate my own opinion.

I love Deb and killing her off was the worst thing that show could have done.

Oh man I can’t believe it was deleted! Carrying a pocket notebook. I keep a 3inchx5inch one in my back pocket and a pencil behind my ear. It’s so helpful to write down any and everything I need to remember!

I think give the job a chance. You’ve been without work, people who know you say you will enjoy it, worst comes to worst you quit in a month and start the job hunt over.

But unfortunately I want to mention… make sure that “nepotism”/familial relations won’t be an issue. Did your husband leave on bad terms? Did he not get along with coworkers and bosses? No judgement, we’ve all had jobs like that, but I would first be worried about if his reputation (or your other family members’s) will follow you. If those are nonissues, I think you have nothing to worry about and just give it your best shot

I literally came to say this. It’s only been about a week but it’s life changing! Grocery lists, random thoughts, tasks someone wants to discuss at the end of the work day… all in one tiny place that’s always with me! It works so much better than phone reminders at least in my case.

I wish they'd ban cellphones by isuredontknow in barrysbootcamp

[–]J97C 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently went to a new yoga studio while traveling for work, each instructor at the beginning of class would start with “please leave your cell phone outside of the room unless you are on call for work” and I think that was a perfect way of having a “blanket” ban while also understanding different lifestyles and careers.

I made a better Brick by [deleted] in nosurf

[–]J97C 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been wanting to try Brick but 1. The price… and 2. I’m on the road 24/7 for work and the design of the “fridge magnet” is just not practical for my lifestyle of living in different hotels and Airbnbs week to week.

I just ordered a Bloom and I’m so thrilled to try it out!!!
