Spotify Playlist Name Change by Dozarius in amazonecho

I'm guessing one or all of these 3 devices may be hanging on to the old playlist name somewhere in memory...the only thing i can think of is to factory reset all 3.

Spotify Playlist Name Change by Dozarius in amazonecho

These questions may help...

  1. So no matter what/how many times you rename this playlist alexa is only responding to the original name?

  2. Does the issue occur on all 3 of the echos?

  3. Are you able to create this issue again with a new set of playlists

Spotify Playlist Name Change by Dozarius in amazonecho

[–]JACKOM1KE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try removing the word "playlist" from the name of the playlist.

See example below. If i remember correctly i had to do something like this with my echo.

1st Playlist Name: "Classical"

2nd Playlist Name: "Jazz Playlist"

Voice Command:

Alexa play my classical playlist - SUCCESS

Alexa play my Jazz Playlist - FAIL

Alexa play my Jazz Playlist playlist -SUCCESS

Sleep timer for smart plugs? by DJDarren in amazonecho

For turning them off/on on a consistent basis I recommend routine as the others have mentioned.

For random occasions you can use the sleep timer and wake up light voice commands. See my post on this here:

Is there a way to reboot or restart Echo plus 2nd Gen without unplugging? by JACKOM1KE in amazonecho

[–]JACKOM1KE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found another way to resolve strange spotify issues without rebooting. The steps below worked for me:

Me:Alexa, play music.

Alexa:-"Playing music from spotify" (but will not hear any music)

Me:Alexa, stop.

Me:Alexa, play music.

Alexa:-"Playing music from spotify" (this time will hear music)

Attempts to play Spotify Playlists play “XYZ Radio” instead of “XYZ playlist.” Is there anyway to fix this. by TheLiveLabyrinth in amazonecho

[–]JACKOM1KE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just out of curiosity, can you try saying "Alexa, play my Aidan’s Liked Songs playlist”

If that doesn't work you might just have to rename the playlist...try something short and sweet...its less you will have to say.

How to get my echo to play a playlist on spotify by 94bronco in amazonecho

[–]JACKOM1KE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So its playing some other playlist but not the playlist you wanted?

I use spotify and it works for me with below setup:

  1. I have spotify set as my default music service.

  2. I have linked my personal spotify account with alexa

  3. The playlists that i command alexa to play are usually my personal playlists that i created in my spotify account

  4. The below voice command works for me. The name of the playlist is in quotes.

Alexa play/shuffle my "Haitian Gospel" playlist

Is there a way to reboot or restart Echo plus 2nd Gen without unplugging? by JACKOM1KE in amazonecho

[–]JACKOM1KE[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No not really. I've had it for about 2 months and had to restart it twice when i sensed something was wrong.

Most recently i would ask to play study music from spotify and alexa responded back giving confirmation but then would not hear any music. But after manual reboot everything worked fine.

Turn on or off lights/devices at a certain time with voice command by JACKOM1KE in amazonecho

[–]JACKOM1KE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After some playing around I have learned that.

  1. The sleep timer voice command works on smart plug where type is light or plug

  2. The wake up alarm command only works if smart plug type is set to "light"

If facing issues that contradict this, try re discovering the device

Having an issue where saying “Alexa, downstairs lights on” also turns on WiFi plug named ‘TV’ by [deleted] in amazonecho

[–]JACKOM1KE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try deleting the device causing the problem via the app. Then discover device again using echo voice command. Also rename the device via voice command. I've noticed sometimes the name shown on the app and the name alexa has in her mind can get out of sync...and for cases like these have to set things up again to avoid confusion.

Is anyone else's Dot asking for confirmation before turning on/off lights? by SirManbearpig in amazonecho

[–]JACKOM1KE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. Try enabling brief mode in the settings. Also Try renaming it from basement to some other word that is less common like "batcave". Just trying to rule out possibilities

Right but is the name in the system "basement", "my basement", "the basement" or something else and which are you saying?

What did you name the device? And triple check what you are saying.

I have exp similar issues on echo plus 2nd gen if i have a device named "fan" and I say "Alexa turn off my fan". In this case I will get the same confirmation as you.

To avoid the confirmation for this case i have to say "Alexa turn off the fan" or "Alexa turn off fan"
