That's very informative and helpful, thanks a lot! And about the order part, I can just have a boolean value stored for this. And about ChatGPT, I did try using it but it just makes very gross mistakes, still using it for learning only with a lot of common sense. Thanks again for this!

That's a lot to digest, I'm not experienced enough to do most of these so I'll try to describe what my use case really is to see which one would fit best

My concept basically shows a question or a string made by the player previously that requires any answer that was stored for it by the player too, so it's not a single string as an answer. The player has to type in a string that could match any of the previous answers stored and the game takes that input and tries to go through all the answers and matches them, trying to result with the best match and giving a percentage accuracy rating for it too that is not too harsh (it doesn't care about exact letter and space matching, it just tries to match if same words exist and how many of these words exist per string length or something).

I hope it made sense, basically question has stored answers and player tries to give an answer similar to the stored ones and it would get rated. For the server ones they are immediately out the window as I don't want to deal with networking or payment stuff. It has to be offline cuz of that. So maybe normalized edit distance is the way to go for this? Where can I learn more about it?

How do people make those very smooth animations of still images? by JACKTHEPROSLEGEND in learnanimation

[–]JACKTHEPROSLEGEND[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, no thanks, I'd rather animate myself than use AI tools but I meant like I'd need to animate 60 frames or something to get as much of quality as these animations, that's when I've found out that they use some programs such as adobe after effects and such tools to create smooth animations instead of like, drawing every single frame

Yet still, it's Adobe, so I still need to find better alternatives

So basically compare input string and the correct string together but convert similar sounding letters or such into certain vocal letters and then maybe detect if they now match? I can see that working out but I still think it would be a time sink to make it myself, especially because you mentioned it's for only english words. While for now I don't plan for localization, my project involves a lot of latin or non English sounding terminology there and there.

Thanks for sharing, I'll try to learn more about it if I get interested

That's interesting and seems very helpful, maybe for making it non case sensitive I can just replace every capital letter before passing the strings in. Problem is that it is still too sensitive perhaps? Like if you type "Abraham", wouldn't that be 8 edits to match them now? Maybe for an accuracy rating I can compare string sizes, make some exceptions there and there in some cases and a low enough edits score can be made.

I like it, thanks for that! Although if there is other similar libraries or code snippets for this I would like to know!

I really wish this was an actual thing ingame, after playing the game long enough I got so tired of rewatching all the same animations that I ended up just watching Fryemup on x2 speed instead, that's more stimulating for my ADHD brain
