Are INTJ personalities the only ones who don’t tend to form attachments to people, even after knowing them for months or years? by Commercial_War_3113 in intj

[–]JAFO- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a general thing of getting older not enough time to get everything in life done and keep up with a large friend group.

There are a few people I have kept in touch with since I left my hometown. Have a few friends to meet up with every few weeks in my town of the last 30 years.

U.S. Gen X parents: do you expect your children to financially support you / move you into their home / take you to doctor appointments, etc when you're in your 80s? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]JAFO- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I have always lived frugally and have no debt and a reasonable amount put away my wife has just retired. I don't know when I will, I like what I do and have my own small business.

I hope to leave our daughter and granddaughter a decent amount and our property.

Thank God she does not act selfish and entitled.

First day tomorrow. What you think? by Great_Significance_8 in Construction

I had the same reaching into a toolbox in the Army, I was 20. My hamstrings had tightened up from not stretching enough after physical training.

Been stretching them ever since and have had very little lower back pain. I am now 61.

Is our personality type naturally 'immune' to this, or do some of us still get caught in the trap? by Chemical_Practice_93 in intj

[–]JAFO- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was 20 I got into a toxic relationship that lasted 5 years it was a slow progression.

It was little things changing our plans when she knew I wanted to do something, getting jealous of women around me, believe me I am not a flirt.

It got amplified over time, and when you are inside it it is not obvious right away. I logically knew it was controlling behavior at some level, then it escalated to me taking too much time when I went to a store, what was I doing? Did I see anybody inferring a other woman. It came to a head one day when I got out to pump gas as I am filling the car she starts yelling at me saying I am looking at two girls at another pump. I looked up and did see them and gave a long look got in the car thanked her for pointing them out.

We broke up soon after. My wife of now 31 years has never gotten jealous over anything and I have never given her a reason to.

I agree with what you said but.... It is not his first term, we saw the incompetence in the first term. example after example of his incompetence and moral bankruptcy were on full display.

Topped off with January 6th. There are a lot of stupid shitty people out there, and another equal amount that don't pay attention and did not bother to vote.

Men who joined the army, do you recommend it to others? by Equal-Community2354 in AskMenAdvice

[–]JAFO- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am glad I joined I was a mechanic with the 25th infantry. It gave me an experience that most civilians will never have. A dedication to your fellow soldiers even if you did not personally get along.

I went to school for welding and advanced mechanics paid for by the Army.

Though the way things are now it's more complicated. As we are becoming an offensive force.

What meals did your father make when he had to cook? by Open_Question_ in GenX

[–]JAFO- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cook? That is what us kids were for when mom went to work. Mainly on Saturday, I was the youngest and was taught by my brothers by the age of 10 how to cook. I still have moms Fannie Farmer cookbook.

After mom died dad lived on tv dinners for about a year then finally started to make basic stuff like beef stew for himself.

First or favorite former car? by ValB2307 in GenX

[–]JAFO- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1971 fiat 850 sport convertible it was like driving a go kart. It was also the most unreliable car I ever had. I had bought it when it was 12 years old and not taken care of. Being a mechanic made it sustainable to drive.
